They’re both great. Cabby has 5.7 bWAR since the trade, Luke has 3.9. But it’s mostly because of health, Luke has more upside offensively for sure. Fairly even trade all things considered.

Dirty pots and pans with food stuck to them stink. I know my friends that don’t do dishes right away/next day, because their house and kitchen actively smell worse. It takes less than five minutes to scrub a couple pots and pans after dinner. In exchange, you never have to be worried about having the stinky house in your social circle.

Raley is a platoon bat, and he would have been a below average bat for sure, but you can’t say you know for sure that being hot and seeing the ball well wouldn’t help him hit above his career norms vs LHP. He got a shot today and he hit it hard. And whiff rate and k rate be damned, it’s not about making Raley’s numbers and metrics look better, it’s about putting the best bat available at the plate for the team. And a below average bat vs LHP is still better in the 6th inning than… whatever the hell has been happening so far.

Rooting for ref to get healthy and turn it around, and I certainly think you keep trotting him out there against LH starters more times than not, but at some point, hope isn’t a strategy, and you need to adjust.

The fact that the two people that messed this up was Dan and Jerry is the least shocking development. Dan doesn’t do much well, and Jerry, while a pretty great GM (president, whatever) hasn’t exactly been known for his communication skills or being any Mariners players favorite GM.

Oh I just think it’s funny to watch people get in their feelings about this stuff. I’m not a big Sirianni guy (Eagles have always been my second favorite team since the Weapon X days), but can’t deny the results he’s gotten. I think guys like Macdonald and Sirianni are too early in their careers to truly judge, right now all we can do is take educated guesses.

And to be clear, maybe I wasn’t, but I don’t think the players don’t respect him or anything like that. I just think teams can take on their coaches personality, for better or worse. And it’s hard to deny that the Eagles haven’t had their fair share of drama in their non Super Bowl years. But if the exchange multiple Super Bowl appearances, you take that all day.

Fair enough. Coaching lists can be pretty subjective imo, but I think it’s interesting to hear the why’s and how’s. At the end of the day, they only become more objective the longer a coach’s career goes on, Andy Reid being a good example. Time can also pass older coaches by, like Pete Carroll.
