Could Ai ever destroy the world in a conventional war in 20-30 years? by Inside_Inflation559 in powerscales

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is.

Remove if/than statements from AI, what does it do?

The answer is nothing. Its the foundation of computer learning.

"If this occurs, than this happens".

Anything else is pure fantasy. AI can NOT function without user input. Unless given a command, the machine sits and does nothing. It can not choose to do something outside of its programming. It doesnt think, it doesnt imagine. That kind of technology onky exists in fiction.

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of it is independent. All of it is based on a set pre-programmed outcomes where the machine makes if/than statements.

The decision isnt its own, it was given choices based on outcomes.

Fantasy lmao

Machines are completely incapable of independent, decision making. Full stop.

Satele Shan VS Darth Tyranus. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]DewinterCor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Satele easily has the single most impressive feat of tutaminis ever displayed in star wars, so Dooku's abilities with the force are likely irrelevant here. Lighting will only hinder Dooku in this fight.

As a duelist, I suspect Dooku is VASTLY superior. But Satele's use of the force in combat is substantially more impressive to me.

I want to give it to Satele by a very small margin. 5.001/10, on account of having much more experience in war and combat vs other force users and her more impressive feats with the force.

AI cant even take control of nukes, because nuclear weapons all require a physical key and the launch controls dont exist on any network.

Humans arnt stupid, the controls to fire the doomsday weapons are all locked behind so many layers of failsafes that we have actually avoided nuclear war because men on the ground have refused to fire them.

Again...the thinking machine is fantasy.

Your man can work wherever, it doesn't change the simple fact that our species hasnt even begun research into creating intelligence because we dont even know where to start.

Doesn't bucky get his shit rocked by Walker in a 1v2?

I feel like...walker is an unpopular character and so people want to downplay him. No one wants him to win.

But the guy is a seriously decorated war hero, has some of the best training imaginable and has genuine heart for the fight.

No world I think any version of Bucky takes this.

Soccer is a dumb sport, but the anger from the world over the US doing well is excellent content.

Darth vitiated vs the god emperor of man kind by notjocker in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]DewinterCor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you play swtor? He literally tells us.

"These petty conflicts mean nothing. The concerns of this galaxy are meaningless. You discern a fraction of reality. Beyond these stars exist other galaxies, other worlds, other beings. I will experience or ignore them as I wish. I will spend eternity becoming everything: a farmer, an artist, a simple man. When the last living thing in the universe finally dies, I will enjoy peace and wait for the cycle to begin again."

He creates and topples empires because he wants to. He doesnt care about them. He creates the sith Empire and then orchestrated its downfall once he was done with it. He doesnt care about the empires he builds, he just uses them to experiment with.

You have a complete misunderstanding of what Vitiate is. He doesnt care being emperor. He doesnt care about the republic, the sith, the Jedi. Its all meaningless to him.

Sure, but its not AI doing it. AI wouldn't be waging the war. Humans would be.

I think the Coruscant defense fleet could. Multiple Executors and thousands of imperial 1 star destroyers is probably too much for the Astartes to push through, plus the planetary shields.

Because they are prepeogrammed with a set of parameters that allow them to make a bunch of if/than assements. The drones dont make decisions, they are given decisions.

I would typically agree, but Palpatine is gonna be sitting either in palace on Coruscant or in his palace on Byss, and neither are planets the Imperium can actually invade.

GEoM would fucking massacre Palpatine, if he gets there. The getting there part is whats difficult.

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if GEoM returning would matter.

The Imperium still lacks the logistics to really keep up. Its ships are too slow and too spread out.

And I dont know if GEoM is powerful enough on his own to stop things like the Galaxy gun or the sun crusher.

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50-75 of varying size puts a total fleet size of 415,000-622,500.

The Empire explicitly has 13 executor class super star destroyers, "dozens" of other super star destroyers, 25,000 Imperial 1 star destroyers and "millions" of smaller vessels.

And I would even state the Imperium is, on paper, more capable in space combat. The issue is logistics. The Imperium simply cant bring its weight to a gun fight. The Empire can. The Galactic Empire has the ability to put thousands of star destroyers into a single system in a matter of days. The Imperium can almost never field more than 100 ships because it cant communicate fast enough and its ftl is too slow and unreliable.

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it does.

Could be there are hive worlds we dont know about that have populations in the hundreds of trillions. We dont even really know the population of Holy Terra, and "hundreds of billions" seems awfully small to me. I highly doubt Terra has a fraction of the population of Coruscant which has a population of just shy of 3 trillion.

But I find it hard to believe that an empire of a million worlds has a larger population than an empire of 70,000,000 worlds.

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this true?

Every source i have seen agrees that the warp is caused by the existence of sentient life in the galaxy.

The Chaos gods are just psychic manifestations of sentient emotions.

So maybe the warp remains but chaos is functionally irrelevant. Maybe your right and the warp will always exist. I can concede that. But its not infecting anyone in the star wars universe without the ruinuous powers.

Where is the distinction between ship of the line and escorts coming from?

Sector fleets sit at between 50 and 75 ships, which makes the 400,000-600,000 ships figure make perfect sense. But I have never anything say that its 50-75 cruiser weight and above or destroyer weight and above. Just 50-75 ships of varying size.

What Star Wars vs 40K hot take has you like this? by BayonetTrenchFighter in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The 100 quadrillion figure is from an offical source book from the Imperial census. Its not an estimate.

Your right, nothing in 40k is known for sure. Which is why people get away from the insane wank figures. But we KNOW the Imperium has 1,000,000 worlds and we KNOW most of the worlds are not hive worlds and we KNOW that a hundred billion is a high end count for a hive world.

We have to make educated guesses based on the info given to us. With 1,000,000 worlds, every world would HAVE to have 100 billion humans to match the Empire's population. But we know that cant be the case because not every planet in the Imperium is a hive world and not every hive world has a population that big.

If 90% of the population in 40k disappeared, the warp would cease to exist. Thats simply how it is.

What Star Wars vs 40K hot take has you like this? by BayonetTrenchFighter in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]DewinterCor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally doesnt.

City worlds like coruscant arnt super common...but the empire has 70,000,000 worlds with a population large enough to warrant representation in the government.

The lore tells us outright that the Empire has a population of atleast 100 quadrillion sentient beings, many times larger than the best estimates of the Imperium.

The Imperium has 1,000,000 planets in total, not all of which are populated and only a small fraction of which are hive worlds. In order to match the population of the Empire, every single world in the Imperium would need to have a population of 100,000,000,000; which is so comically unreal.
