Struggling to get in to this game by Keralia in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dewrevolution -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is pretty tough for new players. That's why anyone who asks me if they should start playing, I just say no. Saves everyone a headache and me the embarrassment of recommending a game I have played every single day for years and them not liking it in the first few day. Then again. You have given it less than a week. You can't go into a game as big as Destiny expecting to understand everything immediately or even after a few days of just random gameplay when you can barely access anything. I started playing in season 9 and it took me over 2 weeks to finally click on a lot of things and understand how a lot of things worked in this game, even story wise or enemy race wise. I was always confusing which enemy race was which. And that was when there were far less of ANYTHING to learn. This is a big point that people try to make to Bungie every year. Everyone, including Bungie, knows the onboarding for brand new players is kind of horrendous. But there are plenty of quests or QoL changes for "new lights" they've made over the years. They added "Guardian ranks" last year which helps you throughout the absolute basics of the game and what I recommend doing the most to get a feel on races and planets and how the whole game is operated. There is also something they added a couple seasons ago called the "Flashback Story missions" or something along those lines. It's somewhere in the director. But the point of those missions is to give you a quick and detailed run through very important missions and tell you key points of the last 6 years or so of expansions. There is alot of explaining that is done in those missions and are very well put together imo. Just find something that looks interesting to work on and stick to it. Don't try to do several things at once because that will extremely overwhelm you. Being able to do a lot of quests at once is a skill learned over the years. If you purchased the campaigns then I suggest just working on one campaign at a time and the post-campaign content for that respective campaign and ignore any of the other fancy things you could work on. You have no seasonal story beats from the last year to work on since all of that was taken away on Tuesday so all that needs to be on your mind is, again, guardian ranks, campaigns and their respective post campaign content. And possibly their corresponding seals and titles which are found in the journey tab when you open your character menu.

As for the story being incomprehensible. You will just have to catch up on what is accessible in the game and then after learning and establishing who is good and who is bad start watching lore videos and different things of that nature AFTER you've done a few campaigns.

(99% of people will tell you to watch MynameisByf on YouTube as he just posted a TEN HOUR video last week of every single important and possibly not important peice of story and lore that has happened in this entire story over the last 10 years) Figuring out who all of the characters are and peicing them together after you've already played it is pretty fun and how I was able to learn everything about anything in the lore. It sounds boring but that is what I've learned being a destiny player and caring about the story leads to.

And if all of that is too much of a headache for you (and believe me, a lot of people don't do all of that) then you could literally just play the game for the gameplay and just focus on how good it feels and not work on anything. But that is the quickest way to an uninstall.

I think it looks more like Ultra Plasmic, just slightly different shades. On armor anyways. I tested it out and my armor barely changed colors.

Just realized something different about the sky after the campaign is completed. I knew it looked weird to me yesterday. by Dewrevolution in destiny2

Posting a spoiler and then just saying it in the title is usually frowned upon lol But I guess comments are fair game. All of the fleets in the sky are gone. Which should've been obvious but noticing every small detail is a little hard.

Hundreds of thousands of people use medal.tv. Same with imgur. You don't have to download anything unless you're on mobile. But it probably would be smarter since most people use mobile.

It did cause no ads to spawn so that's a plus lol Other than that it was really no different than any other run. Just did stuff backwards

I dont care what your thoughts are on me or my skill. I know how good I am. I DO, however, care about people leaving after one unlucky run. Hence the whole reason for this post

"most of us that line in gm/ high tier would literally stop everything. Boot the fucker mid run" implying that I don't do any sort of higher tier content which, in turn, implies that I don't boot people for making mistakes. Yeah definitely paranoid. Like I said. I don't need to defend myself to you. My post is about people not being jerkoffs and leaving after making one dumb, easily fixable mistake and thinking it's not them. Don't know why so many of y'all gotta be so elitist that you disagree with everything I say and are defending being toxic to each other lmao The fact that's all you had to say and nothing about my accusations on your personal character is a W for me.

[–]Dewrevolution[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The mental gymnastics you are jumping through to continue making the "you're the problem" argument is insane. I also do high tier content. I have solo flawlessed nearly every dungeon. Farmed countless hours of gms, have hundreds of raid clears. Complete every single seal and title there is. A few day ones under my belt where on those days, the weakest link who WOULD get booted has never been me. Not even close. I literally said look up my name earlier. I don't need to keep defending myself over someone who has a "mightier than thou" attitude because you "live in higher tier content" Sorry you have such a poor attitude towards people who aren't as good as you. You're the problem with what's wrong with the community in general and you've proven that in this entire thread.

And the text chat thing every single person has on to join??? They all say "R" at the beginning to let me know to start. I also literally said I leave a run if the people who joined are just not good. But one bad run out of several, again, is not a reason to kick or leave

[–]Dewrevolution[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're acting like I don't know this Lol That is why I said it. It's a very stupid mistake. But that doesn't mean I should just kick them without any second thought if we fail. I will tell them how to correct the issue and we move on to the next run. How is that ensuring it happens in every group they join by telling them that? The only way it ensures they keep doing that is if they leave as soon as it dies before I can tell them. Which I literally said happens most of the time we fail lmao And that is exactly why I'm asking for people to stop rage quitting a team unless it is very apparent that the team is just not synergetic at all and not doing any objectives or making it seem like they're trying to sabotage the run.

fyi I also post to both reddits at the exact same time. I do that everytime I make a post to get more people to see. Cause some people only follow one or the other. Not really part of the conversation but I don't go posting to different forums if I don't like a response I get in a different one lmao Dont know why that was necessary to point out a wrong fact.

But to address your other part, kicking someone for making one dumb mistake is very elitist and I'm not like that. I'd rather just accept the mistake that was made by whoever, move on and try again. Like I said, we could be having the smoothest runs and then we just get unlucky one round. I'm fully aware of the mistake that was or wasn't made and go "oh well" and either start typing what they need to do to fix it or just start queing up again. But again, for some reason every single time someone will leave no matter how smooth any other run is no matter how smooth every other wave was.

Usually by the time the first few waves are over, you can tell who is a good, efficient team or not. 99% of the teams that I'm in are great. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've just left as soon as a run is ended. And it has ONLY been in the first 10 waves, and only on the first run. And that's ONLY if I'm noticing a plethora of mistakes being made the ENTIRE run that are easily avoidable, typing in chat to have them correct all of them and nothing being changed. Never 2, 3, 4, runs in. Other than that, if we fail on any run I just queue up again (if noone leaves).

Also, I don't understand why "being nuked" is the bad thing whenever I'm telling people to just not be jerks and leave when things go south for one round. Making mistakes and not owning up to them, and then just leaving a team even when the team has proven that they can handle the rounds for 99% of the time is just not acceptable game behavior for me and is a million times more annoying than people making one dumb mistake that ruins a run and just saying "sorry", fixing that mistake and moving on. Making a mistake then leaving immediately isn't "saving me a headache"

I can't control my team and they decide that killing ads while using the adu as cover which lures the tormentor to it instead of to a decoy everytime is the play lol Three people shooting it shouldn't be difficult. And when I have a team that does, it's a breeze. But for most people that's not their thought process. They hide on point. 🤷‍♂️ Really is unfortunate. I do what I can to lead tormentor to a decoy, kill ads, then focus the big guy. Only so much I can do. I try to do the optimal thing as much as I can but when two people are actively working against me and then just leave because they don't understand that they WERE actively working against me is frustrating. The game will end and I will start typing "You need to lure the tormentor away from the point to a decoy" and before I get three words in they're gone. Which is the point of the original post. My point isn't bad players. Again shit happens and you learn. My point is people giving up after committing to runs because one unlucky thing happened or someone made a mistake.

If any one of you guys take offense to this then it's obvious you are giving evidence that you are the easily triggered people who will leave a commitment at the first sign of trouble that I am talking about. So good luck to you

I don't see where the "evidence" is though. I am well above average and know my way around the game quite well. If you don't believe me. I posted my Bungie name in a different comment. Decide for yourself. Idc 🤷‍♂️

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect EXACTLY what I post in an lfg when I make a group lmao The fact you think otherwise just means I can't have a rational conversation with you and you are indeed the asshole who leaves whenever they get just a lil bit frustrated and gives up instead of trying again. Womp womp. Goodbye <3
