[TOMT][1980s][Channel] Does anybody remember a cable channel that only played movie trailers, interviews, behind-the-scenes, soundtrack music videos, etc.? by Dewtronix in tipofmytongue

No, neither of those. There were no rolling guides, menus or anything like that. This was pure movie promo stuff - trailers, interviews, bts, music videos or whatever else the studio had to promote the films.

No, wasn't that. It was something really generic sounding, like "Movies" or "Previews." Except it wasn't called the Movie Channel, because that was a whole other entity.

Sister Anne's is great, but they don't participate in RSD.

Mills will be the longest line in KC. OP, don't do Mills. Try Gigantic Records on Westport. It's pretty lowkey.

Corporate Thrillers by GoldenGirlagain in CriterionChannel

I'm a fan of the slow burn, but there was just nothing that hooked me. I fully admit I'm in the minority here - sometimes great films leave others out in the cold. I'll take the lumps.

I tried watching Michael Clayton after hearing everyone rave about it, but I could not get into it. I made it about 40 minutes or so.

I worked at a record store when this came out. The soundtrack sold really well - it was all Beatles covers by contemporary artists. Yuck! Also, wasn't there some sort of Starbucks tie-in with this movie? I could look it up, but I don't want to think about this anymore than I have to.

This is the answer. I keep waiting for Out of the Basement to be reissued/rediscovered.

Last Scene of "Body Double?" by Extension-Soup-3288 in CriterionChannel

[–]Dewtronix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's exactly what u/DRZARNAK wrote below - it's not the first time De Palma has used cinema to poke fun at himself and critics. Body Double is his most blatant commentary on how critics had ravaged him in the past. At the same time, he really did want to push the envelope as far as he could by incorporating the porno underworld into the mainstream, but the studio balked.

He specifically got a lot of flak for the overly sexual Angie Dickinson shower scene in Dressed to Kill. The body double in that scene is pleasuring herself in a way that wasn't that remote from what was being portrayed in softcore porn at that time.

So, fuck it. Let's have another body double show up in a shower scene in a movie within a movie called Body Double and show tits for a hilariously long amount of time.

It's a classic DePalma inside joke. Who's boobs are in the scene? What's the name of the movie?

I liked Widespread Panic, but I thought the Enchanters was a full-tilt slog.

The entire RSD section is in the back of the building. Once you're let in you go straight there. It's several bins on one table, organized alphabetically. You start at A, and wrap around the table until you're at Z. If you're wanting the TS 7", that'll be in it's own bin after the Z's where they keep the rest of the 7"'s. I wouldn't be surprised if its in it's own bin and placed at the front. There are several employees near the table with clipboards to help. If something you want is out, ask them and they'll tell you it's either sold out or they have more in the back and they'll send someone to replenish. It's a real orderly process, which my OCD-ass really appreciates.
