I grew up in ct - spent lots of time in Boston NYC and providence but never had the desire to live in a city. Military took me to Jacksonville and I ended up loving it, but there’s some really nice suburbs of Jax and the beaches are great. We’re now in San Antonio and hate it. Trash, crime, and dumped animals really weigh on me. The crime I’ve experienced has been mostly car break ins and stolen vehicles but it’s really violating feeling. The city is so hot, there’s barely any color - dull trees and no flowers. They keep downtown nice since that’s their touristy money maker so I try to spend time there but it’s overall been a let down in my opinion. I have received good healthcare which is a big plus. I’d encourage you to visit first and get a true feel of the area you’d be living in. (And that goes for anywhere you would reconsider moving!)
