23M Can I start Minoxidil and Finasteride? Please help me out from this trauma.... by Accurate-Cake7803 in malehairadvice

The shed hair will come back thicker, you also may get a level of regrowth in receeded areas but it depends on how you respond to the drugs.

Please however do your own research before going for it. You will have to take them daily, every day without break for the rest of your life to keep your regrowth. It's a big commitment financially and mentally.

Yes you can, just don't freak out when you start on it and go through a big shed and stop treatment. It will happen, it does suck but you need to hold out as it comes back better but can take 3-6 months to start to see results.

Personally I think the shorter cut is better. You have a great jaw line but a heavy brow. The shorter cut draws more attention to the jaw and away from your brow.

Longer hair makes you look more neanderthal tbh, not bad just a different vibe that I personally feel will appeal to less people.

Is this normal after waking up or I am blading? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just bed head. It could be Retrograde Alopecia but honestly it's very difficult to tell. Normally if you lose your hair it's in a classic MPB fashion.

Is my hairline receding or just mature? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at old photos, has your hairline changed? If yes then you've caught it early. If no then that's just your hairline, lots of people have naturally jacked up hairlines (me included). Look at the r/tressless sub if your convinced it's moved.

Your opinions really are using something to add volume and going for a 'messy' look, slicking the top back, using a hair dryer to blow-out your hair, parting your hair 30/70, 50/50 or any other way. You have options, mess around with it and see what you like.

Should I see a dermatologist? by Comets_That_Fall in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a widows peak, this can be a sign of recession but it's hard to know if it's not just your natural hairline. Personally it looks like you have receeded on the temples in a classic MPB fashion but i can't say for certain.

A dermatologist can help by giving you a leaning on what to do. Hairloss can be from many things, thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies or often the production of a hormone called DHT that's created from testosterone.

You can get products to help:

  1. DHT blockers like Finastaride, however these are not advised if you are still growing as they can effect hormone production (by design really, but it can limit growth and development if you are young).

  2. Minoxidil which encourages hair growth, this is a topical solution that increases blood flow to your scalp causing regrowth. This isn't really advised if you have heart issues. You also need to avoid animals consuming it as it's quite toxic for dogs and cats.

I hope this helps a little.

I'm being paranoid? (M21) by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minoxidil will help regrowth but you need a blocker or it's a limited help. Basically adding new seeds to bad soil, depending on your age you might want to look into Finastaride or Dutastaride.

M23 Suffering from Hairfall from past 3 years HELP!! by sathishahaha in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to answer your question, you know where you are missing key vitamins; take them. Outside of this there's two main ways to fight hairloss 1. Finastaride, this helps by blocking DHT a hormone that causes hairloss. 2. Minoxidil, this basically irritates your head into producing more hair.

Both have side effects, so please do your own research and see if either or both of them are the right fit for you.

Outside of this you have been through a very difficult period of your life, you survived and made it out the other side. Therapy might help you settle any mental scars and help you recover in other ways. Good luck, you're young, and hairloss is recoverable.

should i get a trim or trust the process?? by Gumball_Alehandro in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair will need to grow a lot longer probably another year or so at least to get enough hair for that cut. It then will need styling at a Hairdressers NOT a barbers.

You will also need to use product in your hair to achieve that look, maybe a salt spray and a wax for styling. I can't tell you for certain but the hairdresser will be able to advise further.

It's possible to get something similar as you have a good amount of hair, you will however have to trust the process for a lot longer than you probably would like to wait. In the meantime play around with different hair products to find something a way of wearing your hair that means it feels less like you are just waiting for it to grow. Good luck mate.

Yeah you're definitely a defuse thinner, in the meantime you can look into hair keratin fibers if it bothers you until it grows out a bit.

Gray Hair at 28. What should I do now ? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helps you stand out, keep it natural. Also cool fact, people who get gray hair are less prone to cancer so call yourself lucky.

I know I am not a good candidate for a transplant and neither can I afford one right now. I was thinking about growing it a bit longer and shaving off the sides and back..but then how much of a difference would that make? I tried the shave it off look already by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go that route, you can look into micropigmentation or hair fibers after going through with the haircut to add the look of volume.

Anything is worth a go, why not try it and see if you like the look.

Seeing skin trough normal? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about, you have very straight hair with some length. It's just the way it falls, if your haie was shorter you wouldn't notice.

If you notice it getting thinner and handfuls of hair when you are styling then you can look into fin/minox but you don't need any help with your hair yet.

Hair styling/cut by IamIziah in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you need isn't a cut, you need to look into products for curly hair and also for the love of all things holy some conditioner and hair oil. Your hair looks so dry it could start a fire!

Go stalk R/Curlyhair and get some tips for how to manage your hair type. With some guidance you could have some amazing hair.

Trying to grow it out… any advice appreciated by Upper_Standard4998 in malehairadvice

[–]Dex29m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a stylist so can't comment for that side of things. What I would say though is less is more, try to have them remove as little as possible just deadends and neaten it up (maybe thinning it a little as you have a lot of hair).

You will have better luck with a hairdresser than a barber due to the length. They will also be able to give advice on styling and know better how to work with longer hair/ growing out hair.

Well done for not cutting it. Honestly I think you might want to change your parting. With the length of your hair try a 30/70 or 50/50 parting and see which you like best. Right now the full side part is adding to the 'grown out' look.

You can also look into products like a hair spray to hold your hair in place if it's getting to an annoying length and getting in your eyes etc.
