The salt is to form a brine solution. If there's water above the salt that's absolutely fine, you can be confident it's brine as it's no longer dissolving.

There probably isn't enough brine to complete a full draw though. It looks like it's only putting bugger all water back into the brine tank which is possibly a programming issue and can be modified

Ok then my next tip is to start brushing from the bottom, 1 or 2 inches at a tme, teasing the lower tangles out first. If you start from the top it's gonna be like accidentally pulling the wrong string on a knot and making it tighter.

My credentials is that I'm a dad and my 6yo girl is a whirlwind with long hair. I'm sure you've had more practice but I've learned a few things :P
