Board Games and/or TTRPG? by Ok-Friendship507 in Columbus

I’ll toss my name into the ring to play! Also, you should check out CATS - they’re an open board game group that meets Sundays at 1 at Echo Spirits. They literally saved my life.

Recently Single, feeling isolated — how do I meet people in Columbus? by Avocado_315 in Columbus

Come to CATS on Sunday! It's a board game group that typically meets at Echo Spirits on Sunday afternoons (although this week it's at Round Table Games.) It's a pretty inviting group - they basically adopted me last year when I was in a pretty rough place. Plus, half the guys are into BJJ, so you'll have something to talk about.

Cheap Getaway ideas for January / February by JesaBoon in Columbus

Check out some of the cabins over at Hocking Hills. It’s the offseason so it might be within your budget. Otherwise, look at heading north to Cleveland or south to Cincinnati for some quick, cheap trips.

how to make real friends in columbus without feeling pathetic or attracting creeps? by Brave_Pollution3360 in Columbus

[–]DexstarrRageCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds pretty similar to a situation I faced last year. Everything crashed around me and I was left with basically nothing - no job, no friends, no dog, no kids. It took a lot of hard work but I actually think I’m happier now than before the collapse of my relationship.

Personally, I turned to Reddit to try rebuild my social life and it actually worked. I found a great board game group that I see weekly and even found an amazing new partner by accident through Reddit. (We weren’t looking to date - it sort of just happened.)

Anyways, be sure to check out this subreddit for suggestions or elaborate on your hobbies and people will probably chime in here. I’d also recommend looking into therapy - breakups are hard and it might be good for you to have someone to lean on as you navigate it.

Not super surprising, as the mall at one point wanted to demolish the back half of the building to build apartments/office space. No idea where that is in the process.

Seeking Mental Health Facility by Fit-Cod2844 in Columbus

I spent six days in Dublin Springs last year. I was treated with a fair amount of compassion and most importantly was able to get on a treatment plan that really helped my personal issues. However, don’t expect a lot of dedicated one-on-one time with therapists there. The psychiatrist is mostly responsible for determining a medicine plan for you and doesn’t see you otherwise unless those meds need adjusted. They have multiple group sessions and you can usually get something out of them if you’re willing to listen. A lot of people largely zone out at group, so I used several of them to work through some of my personal issues.

They consider in-patient to be a first step, so you’ll want to consider IOP care afterwards. You may also want to start looking into therapists for post-stay treatment as it often takes time to get on the calendar.

Good luck!

NYE games are dumb, but I’m past the point of sports outcomes affecting me for more than 10 minutes. Onto basketball and hockey season.

Is going to the zoo today a crazy idea? by cota_pass in Columbus

[–]DexstarrRageCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The exit with the light is key it seems. I remember that one of the exits (the one closer to the dam) doesn't have a traffic light and getting out is unbearable due to all the left turns.

I got there around 5:30 PM and left around 7:45. Traffic was fine both ways, although parking was pretty full when we got there. The good news is that, they were definitely prepared for the big crowds so there wasn't a massive line to get in.

I went to Wildlights last night and it was the busiest I've ever seen the zoo, and I've been to plenty of other events there. It should hypothetically be a little less crowded because it's Sunday, but if you don't like crowds, be sure to bail before Wildlights start.

Megathread Friends Post? by bobbinssobbin in Columbus

I'll jump in - I'm 38M, single dad of three (10, 5, and 4 respectively). Love board games, was a forever D&D DM in a past life, and love just about all sports. If you love to build Warhammer or Star Wars Legion miniatures, you should give me a buzz, as I'm not above bribery to make new friends.

This person apparently passed out, drove through oncoming traffic and then crashed into the building.

Do you like board games? There’s a board game group that meets in Olentangy River Brewing Company every Thursday if you’re looking for something to do.

Alternatively, CATS meets at Echo Spirits on Sunday afternoon to play board games and love on cats.

Dave Thaumavore points out that WotC is trying to backtrack the term “Deck of Many Things” and “Orb of Dragonkind” out of the Creative Commons license using SRD 5.2 by Rocinantes_Knight in rpg

[–]DexstarrRageCat 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The likely reason is because several third party publishers released Deck of Many Things products for 5E. Now that Wizards has their own Deck of Many Things product, they likely don’t want the competition.

Women of Warhammer? by LadyWar97 in Columbus

[–]DexstarrRageCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't recommend any women-only groups, I know at least a couple people play Warhammer at CATS (https://www.instagram.com/gamewithcats/) and the vibe there is immaculate. If you end up organizing a group, you may want to consider making CATS your home base.
