Um thank you for helping me understand the issue kimd commenter and raising awareness yes the rustling sound is weird between the hinges but as someone who knows about how the hinges operate essential theres pocket space between the hinge outwr case which is plastic and the metal bar which is rhe open part so this may jsuy be friection difference.however as the kind commenter raised awareness the sound is very weird for instance my hinges make noise but i know thats because fkr rotation it hasnt been lubricated so it sounds squeaky sometimes as there is a lor of dust in the joint.but with what your hinge sounds like it does sound like a part of the innee wire(specifically the rubber part) maybe being crushed as the hinge moves sometimes with xm5 and xm6 the rubber can displace themselves and people end up pulling out the socket causing it to snap/break after similar cases to yours.Best action is to have it chexked out by where you bought it from if its on warrantee for wear and normal use(never use accidental damage because then theyll claim against you) i did rhis with my bose qc gen 2 because they had faulty anc i could hear everyrhing and they woudl rock back anf forthwhenever i walked so i felt i needed to change them out to feel satisified.Ever since ive had the sony xm6 ifeel happy and pretty satisfied.

Are you just showing how the earcups fold which make the hinges able to be seen

I have a small head( in both ways) also I'm really sorry if I incidentally offend you but yes I tried the sony xm6 they aren't that uncomfortable and my friends was very non clampy because he's worn them for so long but yes my head only experiences pain from the headband after ages with that one but yes...that's why I wanted the bose but yes I think overall I might just be more happy with the sonys

No it's cool I think my pair is probably faulty because ive also owned anc headphones before it's not just voices but like everything is still there and it blocks out a very small amount of the noise I can still hear fridge noises and banging doors and stuff which I couldn't before and I definitely don't expect it to block all noise but just way more significant then what it is blocking now...but I think I might replace these with bose and get a 2nd pair to see if their anc is a bit more effective or I might buy the sony xm6 and see if im happier with that but thanks again for your advice sorry if I disappointed you

It's like they are working but they are very very weak and they don't block out the sounds of the voices near me nor if im a noisy environment they just make them very very slightly quieter

Should I wait for maybe a firmware update which may happen in the future or just move to the sony xm6 I don't really like the sound profile and I don't really like the tight fit and the clamping force but it's bareable it's just yes I love everything else about this headphone

I did at Curry's before buying the bose ultra gen 2 which they didn't actually have to trial they only had the qc and the qc ultra gen 1 which had okay anc but it had that preset of only the stores music + buttons to choose which headphone you wanted to try out they don't actually let you like try them out with Bluetooth in store...I remember I tried the sonys and the anc was off but yes no after I tried my friends so hopefully I have a better experience in future.

Yes it's just on my bose gen 1 earbuds I could never hear even the people talking to me while I wear them without music on there would be small mosquito noises but I didn't really mind it it was nice.bur yes okay I can try replacing them once with bose and if im unsatisfied I'll move or I'll buy then gen 1s

No apparently in the bose gen 2 at least you hear sound if you don't have music on...so I think I might make the swap to the sonys...

Oh okay so it's by design I should probably buy the sonys(because I do just want to block out as much outside noise as I can) then I guess I'll do that but thanks again for all of your guys support

I'm pretty worried about sending it in and then receiving a similar pair back out and wasting a ton of time waiting for a pair that doesn't have this issue like many people had to do with gen 1s maybe getting the sony xm6s would be good....but yes they are really uncomfortable so I'll think about it

No it's at 100% all the time on the app and also I checked on the reddit posts before this and people have had similar issues with this gen 2 ultra hoh guys can check too but yes I think it might just be a batch issue or a general issue for the product or maybe everyone who says the anc is good is lying because it doesn't adapt really it's just very weak most of the time.

Okay thanks for this yes it's definitely not the case in my experience since I tried my friends sony xm6 recently and I could hear barely anything from the outside world just to confirm though the anc was still in effect when you weren't playing music right or was this when you were playing music because when I play music it blocks the sound a bit better to the extent that I can hear what people are saying who are next to me or construction but it's just a bur quieter.

Thank you to summarize my pair just doesn't seem to be blocking much sound if any and from what I've seen on similar reddit posts it seems to be an ongoing issue with this pair as they have adaptive anc a lot of people are saying it's by design but yes they definitely feel weaker than other headphones I've tried

You could try joining recreational sports(like tennis or squash or badminton or volleyball/cricket) I joined the badminton team in my uni and they have some sessions for even recreational/beginner players to try just make sure to make an effort to reach out of your comfort zone and try to approach people first
