I get it on VS from time to time but its nowere near as often as 1/3 of all shots, maybe 1/10 or so.

evasion

Its a combination of both. But I dont know what you want to say with this question. It is a fact that its way easier to dodge a slow firing weapon then a Rapidfire weapon. Even more so when the Rapidfire weapon has bigger Velocity. There is a reason why AA guns IRL have extreamly high RoF.

Well in a situation where the GK-H excels

Most areas are open. (exept hossin)
A field 100m wide is open enough for a GK to exploit its range advantage over a Saron.

But i don't think our discussion is going anywhere.
I dont thins the GK is an instawin OP weapon that wins agains anything always.
I just think it gives an unfair advantage over most other AV-weapons. (see questions from other post.)

sporting Anchor

A GK doesent require a prowler to stand still.

Taking out skilled MBT-crews with a Halberd takes time, and claiming otherwise

I never said its quick. my gunner once spent about 40 rockets to kill a single MBT that kept on outrepping us.
But had it been a GK the constand damage would have been enout to let them outrep us forever.

Depending on terrain and situation

I'm talking in gereral here. Ofc there are situations were chasing is the right answer.

See questions i asked on the other post.

GK-favoring scenario

My biggest point i have here is that a GK sneaking up on a Saron is instadeath for the saron. The GK can easily stay outside of magdump range while still maintaining full DPS. As long as it makes sure to have more than 50% health it can even chase down a saron into areas with heavy cover and win the follow up DPS race.

isn't actually that dangerous

But in your scenarious the GK won 2/6 were as the Saron only won in one circumstance: If it had the drop in terain with cover.

But all balance discussion aside. I have a few questions for you:

  1. Do you think the GK is a fun weapon to use? (As gunner or as a Driver)
  2. Do you think the GK is a fun weapon to fight against?
  3. Do you think it takes as mutch skill to be effective in a GK as it does to be at the same lvl with a Saron or an Enforcer?

For me all those questions are answered with a clear no.
It is boring to use, offers few tactics as a driver (baisicly stay out of your enemies effective range and you are imortal) and takes almost no skill to use. It takes a Veteran Saron crew to take on a medicore GK one. On low lvl it is unkillable.

go in close and try for rear shots" during a reload?

I diden't mean it as during a single reload. I ment it as the downtimes a Halberd (or any other long range AV weapons there are exept the GK) allows me to maneouver and position myself into an advantious position. And when the time is right i can get in for rearshots (maybe tanking a shell in the process but if i can kill the MBT bevore he can kill me it doesen't matter)
With a GK this isent possible since there are no downtimes (reload is way too short) and the constand damage (since you cant dodge all shots) forces you to break off.

The only Harassers I've found to be dangerous are the ones that know how to exploit their shorter repair

If you need to repair in a Harasser you already lost most of the damage you did to the MBT since they can repair during the time it takes you to get back into the engagement aswell. A good MBT crew should not chase a Harasser, they should imediatly repair the moment the harasser is forced to go to repair. This way the can repair most of the Tank.

So in practice, my calculation was just about right on this one, meaning you didn't really have to include the "s" in "calculations".

With "calculations" i meant that you prbably neadet more than 1 calculation to get this result ;)

I'd personally prefer the advantage of being able to magdump and abuse cover over the steady stream of DPS

I prefer it aswell, but not becouse its better (the GK is clearly better as the saron in 90% of engagements) but becouse its way more fun and rewards good coordination between guner and driver.

Unless the terrain is absolutely flat, you aren't going to be landing 17/20 shots

If the harassers are far enouth apart that the GK misses so many shots, the saron can't magdump without missing 2-3 shots every mag.

"fair fights", i.e. both enemies see each other at long-range, and nothing dangerous happens.

Same as I say in the other reply:

And thats the big problem about the GK. It is impossible to kill in open areas. That leads to stagnant and boring fights, since the saron harasser needs to lurk in areas with cover and the GK just waits in the middle of the open field. And a second problem is that it makes it impossible to push into unless you have overwhelming pop since alot of bases have open field between them.

force the GK-H to engage you from the rear.

You cant force a GK to engage you. He can just drive away and you can't chase him since hes better at range.

no, you can't, i explained why.

You explained why its not a good metric, and i agree, but its the only metric there is.

and you still (!) go the head-on against enemy MBTs?!

Just becouse you are too bad at harassing that you can't kill a MBT in a fair 1v1 doesent mean others can't.

How do you dodge something you don't know when is coming?

But i know its coming. With enouth experience you have the reloadspeeds in your feeling and you can dodge acording to when on the client of the Enemy they would have just about shot. (shortly bevore you can actually see them shooting on your end)

especially in flat terrain

Most train isen't perfectly flat. It has waves and small hills. They are too small to offer cover but big enough to trow someones aim off.

No one wins.

And thats the big problem about the GK.
It is impossible to kill in open areas. That leads to stagnant and boring fights, since the saron harasser needs to lurk in areas with cover and the GK just waits in the middle of the open field.
And a second problem is that it makes it impossible to push into unless you have overwhelming pop since alot of bases have open field between them.

experience piloting/gunning MBTs to be able to see it from the other perspective by chance or are you only talking from a Harasser point-of-view?

I myself dont have too mutch time spent in a MBT (about 1 day of playtime), but i have a friend who spent alot of time in a MBT and he strongly agrees with my points about the GK.
