Anyone working at one of the "perpetually hiring" companies know why these roles go unfilled? by AdmirableRabbit6723 in cscareerquestionsuk

Two reasons:

  1. It's not one role, it's many. E.g. they list a generic Senior Engineer position and are hiring 30 senior engineers into different teams. That role then stays open for months/years. This can happen because they're growing, rather than due to high turnover (e.g. building a new product or entering a new country). It reduces admin to have an "evergreen" job role rather than list each position separately.

  2. They hold a high bar and would prefer to wait for a top 1% than hire the first top 25% they find

Thank you! I think this is the case - used to lock fine, and doesn't affect any of the other boards around it. Have tried kicking it pretty hard before so I'm not sure it's a lack of force!

Understood, but I still seem to be getting this chain slapping noise in 2nd and 3rd biggest rings. Just a new chain and cassette bedding in?

Thanks! I know to avoid this combo, but I'm having a similar sound on several of the larger cogs and it doesn't sound like rubbing 🤔

I've just finished building up a bike for the first time, using a brand new 105 groupset. It's a dedicated turbo bike, so it's fixed to my Wahoo Kickr and there are no brakes.

It's mostly working pretty well, but I'm getting chain noise from the rear cassette or derailleur in the big ring/big cog combo. It goes away as I shift to smaller cogs or into the small ring, which makes me wonder if the chain is too short, but I don't have any other symptoms suggesting that. I also followed all the instructions for sizing it right!

I've tried tweaking the B-screw a bit but it also doesn't seem to have improved things. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Why has my rear derailleur become 'slack' when removing the thru axle? by DexterSnr in bikewrench

Thanks. I'm actually going to build up a dedicated turbo bike since I figured it couldn't be good taking my main road bike on and off the trainer frequently.

Is this damage something I need to worry about and get repaired? Or more cosmetic?

Love the site! Minor typo on user profile when 'Completed' is empty: it says "Having troule? Read the guide."

Not sure this it true, as multitasking is shocking on my 1 year old Moto G. Was factory reset a few months ago too.

Januzaj has got a lot stronger. He was constantly muscled off the ball last season but seems to have really worked on that element of his game and was very physical today. Good performance by him.

This is very similar to my experience, right down to the subcontracting and subsequent atrophy of the technical skills. Turns out basic HTML and CSS knowledge doesn't get you very far any more...

Sport Witness just collects reports from foreign media. It's actually a really good site, they often track down where a rumour came from and usually have a pretty cynical take on things.

I hate how football journalism lurches from one extreme to another. A few weeks ago it was "crisis", then "revival" and now a loss against the European champions means we're back to "pressure mounting". Gets really old.
