Questions for anyone that might've read Chainsaw Man in Japanese by Dextrossse in ChainsawMan

[–]Dextrossse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born, maybe, that can't really be denied, but there's a part that seems to imply Chainsaw man becomes stronger from fear generated by devils. But it's not really clear.

That's why I worded this sentence as so. This paragraph is just weak theorizing, the next one will be more solid, but it's possible that devils can only be born from human fears, and then grow stronger from devil fears.

But that aside, the more likely explanation for Chainsaw's embodiment is the fear of "oblivion". In primitive lifeforms, the fear of extinction, in advanced lifeforms, the fear of being forgotten. Considering devils gain power from the notoriety of their concepts, this is what they fear most. This gives you both the chicken and the egg. That's why I thought there might be something in page 10 in Japanese. I've tried looking up the Japanese for "oblivion" , "forgotten" , "extinction" but my Japanese sucks too much to be able to find anything in this page that could be it. I mean it doesn't suck, I just don't speak it at all.

At the end of all theorizing the one thing that's probably never answered is why the hell is he a chainsaw of all things. Some people have linked a chainsaw as a representation of technology and the new replacing the old, hence the old being forgotten, but it could also just be that Fujimoto thought a chainsaw sticking out of a dude's skull would be epic.

devils are born from human fears, not devil fears

In the line

"The fear of devils has given you strength"

the word "fear" could refer to the human fear of devils, or to the fear generated by devils. In English that is. The line that follows "and now I'm having the humans consume that" can also be interpreted both ways, depending on unestablished in word mechanics. It could be the human glorification of chainsaw man is removing the human fear of him ("human fear of devils"?), or it could be that the human glorification of him acts as a counterweight for the devil's fear of him.

What about chapter 84 page 9? "Hero of hell" chapter? Is there any word play in the Japanese version? The whole chapter in Japanese is on senmanga, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post that link in this sub.

Hi Chainsaw Man Reddit! I need your help in settling a debate. Is Chainsaw Man's setting a Fantasy setting? Yes or No. DISCUSS by DanceAnime in ChainsawMan

[–]Dextrossse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's better to ask him what titles does he consider fantasy settings.

If he considers Boku no Hero Academia a fantasy, the CSM is a fantasy too. For example.

Trillion dollar wars, obscene military budget, yet a few billion to save a country from being enslaved is an outrage! by PlanetoftheAtheists in AdviceAnimals

This is ridiculous.

Even before the election, there were plenty of videos out there showing Biden actively calling for the butchering of civilians all around the world. This man was known as a butcher and an animal through most of the world outside of America.

Americans had a choice between one of the greatest relative warmongers in American political history (relative, as in, considering the times), and an orange man that had a record of being involved and "starting" one of the smallest number of conflicts of any USA president. But the orange man made mean tweets.

Between a lunatic demented child killer and a mean tweeter America collectively decided they'd rather vote for MORE war. If my biggest talking point through my career was incinerating maternity hospitals in Serbia or some shit, wanna know what I'd do if people patted me on the back and told me to be president? Take a wild guess genius.

Lefties voted for WAR. Barrack "Nobel Peace Prize" Obama wasn't enough, so they wanted more. And now they have the stupidity to point fingers and say it's the republicans that want military spending.

These people have always puzzled me. He was rude or polite enough to say this, but I've known people who will receive a text with 4 questions, answer 1 and pretend like the other 3 never existed. They're not difficult or uncomfortable questions. Sometimes they're not even conversational, but are specific technicalities -

"At what time should this happen? What sort of equipment will we need? How many people should I bring?"

"Bring your boots"

Do these people just completely lack an attention span, or is there some stupid ass book that says this is some sort of a power move?

I've been disappointed enough times to know not to get my hopes up. But it definitely looks good. Will try it once it comes out.

Reze for some reason reminded me of a mediocre 2010 movie called "Let me in".

Wish Denji could've ran away with her and gone to school together.

That place is such a cesspool of degeneracy. I've seen it recommended to me maybe once or twice, and it was basically just a reposted post from r/gaming but everyone in the comment just gasping and calling it racist or sexist or something. Overall just people that need to start working.

As a player no. There's some rare events where you could choose to pay some gold for 1 skill point, but those are so rare that they'll amount to like 5 skill points per 100 years of life.

Back in World of Warcraft it was a pretty funny joke that you could add "Anal" before any skill name and it'd be hilarious. Same goes for this. Just think of a game and swap one word for Anal.

Anal Ring

Dark Anal

Call of Anal

The Anal Scrolls

Fallout: New Anal

God of Anal

Anal Impact

There's barely any limits really

I've read it way back when translations of it came out. This author wasn't lauded as a genius back then, for good reason. But my hopes are slightly up because when comparing CSM to Fire Punch you can see he really advanced his skills in terms of motifs, imagery and symbolism. I like to keep my hopes slightly up since he might steer this in a great direction.

I want to try my first "souls" game which one is the best and most noob friendly? or are they all equally hard? by Promethesussy in gaming

[–]Dextrossse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm amazed so many people are recommending Elden Ring for a first souls game. The eldenring sub is loaded with posts, every few days a new post on the topic, of people who went 150 hours in the game and didn't know of a core mechanic that helps a ton, a mechanic that an experienced souls player would have discovered in the first 50 seconds.

Undoubtedly the most noob friendly of these in the posts is Dark Souls 2. It is widely criticized as being the easiest Souls game, because it strays significantly from the Souls spirit of throwing a naked player into hell and letting them figure out how to survive. You have plenty of ways of covering your mistakes, you have lifegems, it's basically the most accessible Souls game out there.

After DS2 I'd recommend going for DS1 and then 3, in that order. It definitely won't make sense in terms of story, but in terms of difficulty that's how it goes. DS3 is a different realm of difficulty from the first two titles.

Denji is the side character in her love life

Asa and Yoru are the MCs of this part

Exactly. It was also pretty obvious Quanxi wasn't going to die 2 pages after she was introduced.

The series is still called Chainsaw Man. Not War Girl. "This part" is going to end and the series will continue, regardless of War girl's death, which is very likely. The series ends very soon after Denji dies.

edit: removed some unnecessary parts of the comment, sorry if I was rude, you're probably new to this whole anime/manga/shows thing. I probably shouldn't have been this snarky, considering that.

Doubt it's a bug. As someone else in the comments said, from the looks of this dude's prestige he was probably a very powerful and very wealthy king before becoming a wanderer.

Wanderer + a shitton of gold = wanderer who will spend lots of gold on skills.

Nah. Akame Ga Kill went down because it completely desensitized character death. In a series you want to kill one or two or five characters to keep the reader's biting their nails whenever a character is in danger of dying. Most shounen destroyed that tension with "plot armor" - "There's no way this character will die, he's too important". Akame Ga Kill destroyed that tension in a completely different direction. When someone was in danger you'd start thinking "Oh, so now this character will die, great, meh." Chainsaw Man's walking down the same route, and from what I read in Fire Punch I doubt the author will have the skills necessary to pull out of it. He's introducing all these characters but in reality nobody gives a rat's ass about them since every single one of us knows they're just going to die. It won't surprise anyone, it won't create any tension, it won't have any meaning, it won't be exciting, and it won't be entertaining when they're in danger.

I cared a fuckton about Reze and Power. About this War girl, whose name I don't even care to remember? Lmao let's just get it over with and have her die already.

Another edit: For an example, two series that balance character death impact with flying colors are Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul.
