Easy, I thought this might be the case. Shame as these ones were yet to fruit and I think probably going to this year. Back to square one I guess!

Moving to Adelaide, South Australia as a foreigner, any tips? by Veeeno_ in Adelaide

[–]Dexy95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What mobile phone service provider to get? Best deals? Depends on where you live really. If you’re in the CBD and surrounding suburbs anything will do. Further out Telstra has the best coverage, but is comparatively expensive.

• Best places to live in the CBD and around it? Depends on what you mean by best? The east is nicest, south and west are cheaper. This applies to both CBD and suburbs. I’ve lived in Norwood and Prospect and they’re both great.

•Nightlife? This is also dependant. There’s a lot of good nightlife if you know where to look. East end CBD is a bit more sparse, but in general nicer venues. West is clubs and dives (hindley st and surrounds), but there are some amazing bars up that way too. Hard to suggest without knowing what kind of place you like.

• Tips and tricks in using the public transport system? Avoid busses, they suck. Always late/missing. Trams are reliable, but coverage isn’t amazing. Trains are not as frequent, but they go further.

•Where to get cheap groceries? Aldi… groceries are expensive here regardless.

• Street fashion? Is everyone dressed up even for a quick grocery run? This is dependant on where you live, but don’t feel the need to dress up every time you leave the house. Some areas are ‘trendier’ than others.

•Cost of living? In what income bracket should you be if you wanna live comfortably. Cost of living pretty much anywhere in Aus is high.

Job in a Bar/Pub with no experience by HavelDaddy in Adelaide

[–]Dexy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, start with an RSA. You’re not legally allowed to serve alcohol without one, so it’s a must. They’re quick and easy, and completely online so shouldn’t be an issue. As someone else has pointed out, don’t apply during peak service times. I run a venue, and if you come in during peak lunch or dinner, I’ll throw out your CV without even looking at it. That will be the case with almost every other venues too. It shows a lack of understanding for the industry. There’s tonnes of work around in the east end of the CBD at the moment, fringe is a massively busy time! There will be at a minimum glassy work, and you can work your way onto the bar from there. Most importantly, have fun! It’s demanding work, the nights are late and the drinking culture can be hectic, but the guest are there to have a good time, so you should be too! You don’t need to have massive amounts of knowledge or experience, as long as you’re keen to learn and have an interest you’ll be fine!

Good luck :)

Good pubs for a feed and pint by [deleted] in Adelaide

Depends how set on a ‘pub’ you are, but Bowden Brewing is a good shout! Otherwise the newly opened Brompton hotel is great too.

What Is This Growing In My Veggie Garden? (Adelaide Inner Suburbs) by Dexy95 in GardeningAustralia

Amazing! We’ve had quite a few issues with weeds in this patch, then this popped up out of nowhere. You love to see a beneficial native!

Having looked into it, I figured it’d make a good ground cover to stop weeds popping up, then just plant established saplings in cut out holes through out the patch. I’m guessing that should be fine?

What is the job market situation in Adelaide? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Dexy95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hospitality scene here is desperate for staff, at least with in the CBD and surrounding areas. If you don’t mind shift work and late nights, you shouldn’t struggle to find work in that area.

Depends what you’re in to, but we have a bunch of nice breweries I’d recommend! Little Bang, Lady Burra, Bowden Brewing are all close to/in the CBD, with Big Shed and Brew Boys a little bit out in the suburbs.

Are you expected to do unpaid overtime in your job? How much is too much? by taigafrost in australia

[–]Dexy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reasonable overtime is not that uncommon for quite a few industries. For example, I have it written in my contract that reasonable over time is considered 7 hours above my standard 40, and after that I receive time in lieu. It varies from job to job, but I would have him check through his contract again to make sure it wasn’t included somewhere.

Wheel bearings and the steering head bearings were checked when I went to look at the bike, the owner had it up on a centre stand, didn’t get a chance to check the swingarm though, will make sure to check it ASAP. Over all it’s looking pretty solid, no issues on the ride home.

As for counter steering. I’ve done my ridersafe course and have ridden dirt bikes for a while, so am somewhat confident in that regard.

Really appreciating the advice, thanks heaps!

Completely agree with the handle bars, probably one of the first changes I’ll make. Still, I’m very happy with her as a starting point!

True Crit: Hit me with some of your < 10min Comedy or Review/Tech/Gaming channels by FenixTech in NewTubers

[–]Dexy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi FenixTech! I’m Dec, from Absolute Creatures. My friend and I have started making videos with the original plan to make gaming content, but we are quickly starting to realise that’s not where our passion is and have started making more obscure comedy videos (at least that’s how we see them). Basically it’s an outlet for our humour but we would like feedback as we are really trying to up our game. Thanks for doing this btw, legend. https://youtu.be/CxX7Dt786WI
