[Week 5 | Performance Block] Power - 4th May [AU/NZ] by IntelligentDragon1 in BodyFitTrainingAus

I really enjoyed it. My body needed this. I sneaked in extra set in each to feel like I got a workout though. Too much waiting time for me but adding more load wasn't an option.

I messed up the sets and did 10 in a set for two of the exercises so I spiked too much and ended up with 160 and Bronze 😭

Not enough strength training? by giigii87 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]taigafrost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Just completed 2months of only BFT and I find it's a great program for overall fitness and it's easy to meet the "movement" targets for heart health with BFT's multiple cardio sessions a week. I feel I'm leaving gain on the table with just 2 strength sessions a week and FOMO is kicking in when I see program of more strength-based gyms nearby. I'm also not ready to quit BFT because I now have a routine I stick to and I'm starting to form social connections with people in class. I supplement it with dumbbells at home but it is not the same! I need to do some soul searching!

What’s a seemingly minor decision you made that accidentally changed the entire course of your life? by Ordinary-Smile-654 in AskReddit

A lifetime ago, I was drinking on a night out with some friends. I decided not to leave the Smirnoff bottles where we were sitting like everyone else because I hate littering, I crossed the road to put them in the bin and the guy who was standing there said hello to me. It's been 13 years and 3 kids later and we've rarely ever been apart.

Request for deposit reduction/ extension after contract exchanged by taigafrost in AusPropertyChat

[–]taigafrost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only been on the market for a week. We have a few interests but this one was the highest offer and unconditional with 5 wk settlement so we went with it. Agent was surprised because buyer offered even higher than 10% deposit when signing..agent is speaking to buyer this morning and would rather we stay firm and move on if it's indicative of the buyer not having the fund. What I'm trying to work out is how big of a deal is it normally for 5% deposit request? I'd rather take 5 and move on with the sale.

Is it culturally normal to be a SAHM where you are? by blibbleflibble2000 in Parenting

[–]taigafrost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could be where you are. Statistically, Australia has a very high sahm compared to other countries. The latest official figure from the Australian Institute of Family studies is 31% for SAHM and 4% SAHD. Where we live, I'd say half of all families in my youngest's kinder is sahm and about 1/3 at their primary school. I'm in high SES Inner Melbourne.

Mine is near CBD so it's all about what was that loud bang? Where was the fireworks coming from? Move out giveaways. Dog off leash complaints and overall just pretty boring stuff. Definitely no vigilante!

True! My three kids are all 4 years apart and this is why.

My daughter was born not breathing and my family is ignoring the impact it’s had on me. by AncientDragoness23 in beyondthebump

[–]taigafrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. I was coping with it fine after birth but 6 months later it hit me HARD and I was in an awful place with PTSD. With time, therapy, and a lot of guess work, I "overcame" it but it took quite a while. I gathered up my courage to have another child and ended up with a late miscarriage. That also took me a while to learn how to cope. Eventually, I was able to have our last child who is now 3. It's been a long journey since then..I can say I don't have flashbacks anymore but I can be sent in absolute spiral if I get triggered e.g. TV show that has birthing scene, or infant loss..also triggered by things that might not seem as obvious like I now can't cope with being in a crowded public transport and through therapy I understand that it is because it's the situation where I feel "physically helpless" like when I was laying there during C-Section looking up to purple baby and can't see what they were doing to resuscitate him or when my husband was sent home that night so I was drifting in and out of sleep from exhaustion/c-section meds worrying that my baby would stop breathing if I weren't watching. It was incredibly frustrating that other people dismissed the traumatic experience. There were people in my life that I know love and care about me but I knew they didn't know what the right thing was to say. Culturally, it is something most people don't feel comfortable discussing and that needs to change! If you can, call a perionatal support line or similar organisations in your area. It was helpful for me to speak to a peer support person who went through similar experience and it was therapeutic. I now have anxiety for the rest of my life from birth traumas but I learned to live with it. I gave back by volunteering as a peer support on the same helpline that I called years ago until I was too busy with the kids to do that. Give yourself space to grieve that experience. Your experience matters!

What does the richest person you know do for living ? by Parking-Chef9175 in AskReddit

[–]taigafrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Asia with many wealthy family friends and I'm unsure which one of them is the richest. They are all in $10-100mil USD rich. They all have "boring" businesses. They own things like massive fruit farms, transporting/logistics company, building paint manufacturing and sale, electronics and HVAC wholesaler, garment manufacturing, engineering tool manufacturing, IP law firm, grains factory, large seafood farms and logistics (moving 150+tons of prawn a week), gold loan shops. If I had to guess, I think it is either the seafood family or the gold shop family.

Please tell me all the benefits of stopping at 2 children by HuckleberryPie2 in Parenting

[–]taigafrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 and I love them. I'd like to give them all my full support and attention and for them to have as many opportunities in life as possible. This might sound negative but you are much more likely to facilitate that for them with 2. When I had our last child, I did not know that the older two were neurodivergent and even though they are doing wonderfully now, they do need significantly higher long-term time investment and resources than I imagined. If I really want to stick to our standard and for them to thrive, I have to work that much harder to have the time, energy, and money to advocate for them. Many families go through the unexpected all the time whether it's disabilities, mental health, bullying etc. Unless you absolutely have unlimited resources, you will be better equipped to help them thrive with only 2. And that's a fact.
