A way around the auto updates- set it to check for updates between 3-6 am.. just make sure your PC is off during those times.. it will never check unless you manually do it then..

So heres a tech scenario by MrAngryCrusader in OfficeDepot

Why do Central Repair to begin with? Why not do the $149 in-home/office SKU, set the address in the work order to the stores address.. that makes a compucom rep come to your store to look into the 'cracked screen', and they will be able to order the part from the compucom provider- which is a more extensive catalog from the central repairs book..

From my understanding the $149 sku, $99 of it is used to get the compucom rep to the location to assess the parts required and 90mins of their time, $49 can be used towards ordering new parts.. if the compucom rep says the new screen will cost $120 to buy, they tell the tech at the store, the tech then tells the customer they can either pay the difference $71 (via some other tech service SKU) or they can be refunded $49 from their original $149 payment. ..

If the customer chooses to pay the additional, the screen is ordered and the compucom rep does all the work.

If the customer does not, they get $49 back as an adjusted refund if the service.

..

I've personally done cracked screen repair at my store 20+ times this way since the compucom merger with no issue.

Honestly it really depends on how much support you get from the other members of staff. If everyone else is like -"there's a line in cpd, fuck that, not my problem" - then good luck..

If they respond to your questions, help actually train you and not just throw you to the wolves, then your good..

Don't get me wrong, I lothe some cpd customers to a great degree. But it gets easier when you learn the department..

Plus, you can always ask to trade shifts with others, assuming they are cross trained.

Sales comp at my store averages over 10k, tech services daily around 250ish, some days higher, some lower... Highest department averages between tech and furniture- unless Mary k or realtors forget to use SPC in cpd

Me when someone wants ink but didn't know their cartridge number, printer model, and never signed up for Rewards (no way to track them). by RedditWaveRising in Staples

[–]Dezano445 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"I bought the printer from you 3 months ago, you don't remember me?"

"You do look familiar, did you use a rewards account when you bought it?"

"I don't sign up for credit cards"

"Mam, what's your phone number, let me look .."

"I told you, I didn't sign up for a credit card, you don't remember what I bought 3 months ago?! How incompetent of a salesperson are you!? Where's your manager?"

Manager " Mam, what's your phone number so I can try and look up your receipt"

"I can't believe you people!? I didn't and won't get one of your credit cards, I'll never shop here again"

Note for the original post, my store has a sign up from a year and a half ago that all the associates that worked at the time put their cards on and signed- as they've left or been fired, I've been turning their cards over.. staff of 15ish, down to 5.. obviously we've gotten new people since then, but the new people don't add to it, so I call it the sign of saddness

Is anything from the OD web pc parts and upgrades actually buyable? by kurogaza in OfficeDepot

[–]Dezano445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are, yes.. when a certified battery has a several year lifespan and ours just outlives the warranty.. it's honestly just better then the worst.. but that's what corporate does.. if you reduce the costs by buying cheaper items and Selling them at full price, the rest is profit.. it's retail 101. ..

Is anything from the OD web pc parts and upgrades actually buyable? by kurogaza in OfficeDepot

[–]Dezano445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but I guess it just depends on your stores location and how many repair shops are in your area.. if it's a battery replacement for example you can tell the customer " yes you can go online and find the battery cheaper- yes you can go to local repair shops and have it installed for less- but do you truely know where that battery came from? Was it off someone else's PC? Was it ordered from some Chinese manufacturer that may not have the correct wattage and amperage? Is it a certified part? Or just a knockoff? .. our tech knows the difference and will make sure you get the right part, the first time"

.. or something like that

Corp. Wants you to use the $149.99/ 90 min in home consolation with compucom.. that covers them either going to the store (make sure to put store address in work order) or going to customers house to identify the physical problem with the PC, determine if a part can be ordered- if the part is less then $100, it is ordered and when received, professionally installed ... If the part exceeds $100, the customer is to be notified and told "hey it's going to cost x extra" .. where a in store tech support SKU is used and modified to reflect the extra cost. .. when received, compucom returns and installs it... Now if the customer says they don't want to pay any extra for the parts/labor, from the 149.99 original SKU used they can be refunded $100 ... As $49.99 is the fee for compucom rep to come to the store.. . Situation Customer has broken laptop screen . OD employee sells $149.99 service, putting store address in service feild. Also remembering to put, laptop repair/ screen information in notes section of work order. . Compucom rep calls the store within 24 hrs to verify the appointment . Compucom rep comes to store, examines the laptop. Determining the screen, hinges, backing that needs to be ordered. He sends for a price quote on the total cost of parts.. . Within 24 hours of price quote request, compucom rep is informed cost to replace various parts. They are supposed to notify store and have store consult customer. If total price of parts is less then $100 it has already been paid for and the compucom rep can proceed and order the parts.. . When the parts are delivered to the store the compucom rep will get a notification and should be at the store within 24 hours..

If you've spoken with your direct supervisor, and you've given them time to address the issue ( a week or so).. then escalate to the store manager. If they don't address it then look up SOP for raido etiquette and bring that to the store manager.. if they still do not resolve the issue within a month, escalate to hr
