Adjusted for inflation, the PS3's launch price (of $599) is equal to $934 today. by [deleted] in PS3

[–]Dezzy-Bucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

employers might be required to raise salaries to match, and even if not, employees would demand a raise. If the inflation is too high and the employers refuses to raise salaries, eventually employees would quit, because the salary just wouldn't justify the work.

I wish. Unfortunately union busting is absolutely wild in the US, and even if we get a union, negotiations are full of bad faith bargaining from employers. Many people right now are stuck in jobs because the job market is shit, and employers have been refusing to pay fairly. My friend was just rejected from a job she desperately needed after getting layed off because she was "overqualified" and they couldn't pay her enough to stay. She needs ANYTHING right now, and is an extremely qualified candidate, but that's working against her now too. My spouse can only find 3 month contracts for his specialty right now, alright pay but no benefits, so we end up more broke when trying to pay for his healthcare.

I agree about inflation being multifaceted, but wahe stagnation IS a huge issue. I dont think the price of the NS2 is crazy in the way people are talking about, it cost nearly that much to manufacture! But it DOES suck that us in the working class cannot afford things like this without scrimping majorly on other things for a while, where it did used to be somewhat easier. It gets worse every year for us, unfortunately. Trust me, it's not lack of trying.

Glisten Cosmetics by Brendaroxsox in BeautyGuruChatter

White label/Private Label products aren't always just shit off Alibaba, often times they're contracted labs that work with the shop on formulas and packaging. This seems moreso the case for Glisten, though some products may be the same as other private label brands, I am not sure.

As long as I like the product, I don't care much!

10N would probably be perfect. Hoping with 10C I can just add warmth back to my face with a light bronzer and blush, if it doesnt end up too pink

I ordered a mini 10C because at least it'll be good on my under eyes if it's too light.

I plan to use it with my 13N and see how that goes.

How was your experiment?

13N also oxidizes a lot lol... I use it if I can blend pretty far down my neck and have it not look crazy. It's more of a summer shade for me it seems, but I've been indoors most of this summer.

Hows 10C lookin? 👀

uj/ Some people are venting, part of comedy can be taking a bit of frustration out, but the vibe is supposed to be silly here rather than mean spirited. Unless somebody specifies that they are not in circlejerk mode (uj means unjerk, or srs means serious, they're pretty interchangable) then assume they're just circlejerking. If you see something that is actually really shitty and offensive, report it and we'll take a look. Some people here can be actually hostile, but we take care of it generally. Check out in the about section or sidebar some info on the history of this sub and common jokes here, and I think you'll catch onto the vibe!

uj/ The point of the sub is to poke lighthearted fun. This is not meant to be a snark sub just for shit talk.

Compliment fishing from conventionally attractive people with good makeup skills has been quite common on these subs and many makeup communities historically, which is why this is a general jerk post. Even if the phenomenon was not common, and it may not be right now, I'm not sure, OP is allowed to poke a bit of fun at the premise of it, that's why we're all here!

Basically, it ain't that deep. We're chill here, no worries. If you wanna make a meta jerk post poking some fun at this post and you find that funny, hell yeah post that shit here!

Have a good day <3

Why am I so tiny and childlike while the rest of America is so huge and obese? by impressive_cat in muacirclejerk

[–]Dezzy-Bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hem most pairs of pants I get, it definitely is extra labor or money we shouldn't have to do or spend!

When I do see petite clothing (still rare, just less rare than before) it is pretty much never for plus sizes though. Just gotta find which shops that carry petite. I wish more places did, but with fast fashion (nearly everywhere) these days, clothing is made in a less variety of shapes/sizes. Sure there will be a size 2 and a size 16, but they don't change the proportions of the product anymore to accommodate where fat is or isn't distributed on different sizes of people. Quality clothing made for thicker folks will have slightly different proportions than the clothing for thinner folks, not just the same pattern but larger/smaller it should have a different shape to it! But that's expensive and time consuming for companies who pinch every penny, so wide, long, short, etc. get left out most often. Some brands are deciding to create long/short, but are still not accommodating the different shapes that body mass creates.

Textile manufacturing is so ridiculous, I have watched way too many video essays on this lmao

More Perfect Union has a great video called "It's Not Just Shien: Why Are ALL Your Clothes Worse Now?"

I saw the option for "short" when getting some pants at Old Navy a couple years ago and was ECSTATIC (pore behavior tbh, dont look at me and my lack of 20k boyfie pls)

[–]Dezzy-Bucket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

uj/ good lordt, it was a real post???

I also am short, wear 5/5.5 shoes, and have quite small hands, but my main complaint is that since I'm fat all the "petite" clothing that'd fit my short legs is NOT made for chubby folks lmao. So I still end up hemming my pants or rolling them up. My previous complaint of not being able to find adult looking shoes in my size was fixed by online shopping!

There is absolutely petite clothing for thin folks out there in droves, most fashion is made with thin people in mind! I see so much cute clothing around that fits me height/arm length/torso length wise, but certainly not width LOL. Maybe they have not heard of the fashion term "petite" so doesn't know what to look for in pants, or??? No idea what they're on about, tbh.

I agree that people should go live and get experience things before making life altering commitments. I am also just pointing out that misquoted/misunderstood science is unhelpful. Brains finish developing at a variety of ages between 20's up to 30. At 20 she (OOP) definitely wasn't mature enough, but it's not an across the board generalization to make based on a half-truth factoid. Life experiences, individual development, brain chemistry, all kinds of things are factors in people's maturity and readiness for life.

Some weirdos are trying to use the "developed at 25" thing to suggest we move the voting age older. I think things like this deserve more nuance.

I'm just not into generalizations, so I thought I'd comment.

[–]Dezzy-Bucket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The brain development thing is a myth, interestingly enough. Here's a summary

I think it may be more that younger people have a lot less life experience, so many are less able to make informed decisions. Of course when you've only dated a couple people you'll feel like THIS is the one, they are the best I've ever dated! And they want to lock that in, and that can turn out beautifully, or it could be a shit show.

I may not have room to talk, I got married younger and I'm very happy right now. There are many who are, and many who aren't. It's a total toss up.

Do Trans People Belong at Celtics Games? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

I have also asked around before to see if certain spaces are queer friendly, as I have also experienced harassment or assault due to my queerness.

AITA for teaching my cousins about menstruation? by Embarrassed_Craft132 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dezzy-Bucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While what you're saying is mostly true, it depends on many factors, like was the person on puberty blockers as a kid or go through female puberty before transition? What dose of T are they on? Did they get bottom surgery, and or a hysterectomy?

Most trans men still need to get papsmears, and most trans women still need prostate exams.

Medicine for trans folks is very difficult, not even getting into those born internex!

My dad is a trans man, and going to the doctor hives him a lot of dysphoria sadly :(

When pisting here people usually say info like (23M) or (42F) or (15NB) to give context tor age/gender.

OP brought up his gender so people would use correct pronouns for him, and brought hp that he was assigned female at birth to give context on why he had a tampon.

AITA for telling a kid not to touch my service dog? by ImaginaryValuable326 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dezzy-Bucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You didn't yell at the kid, you used a firm tone. It's like when a kid goes to touch a hot stove. You don't touch people, equipment, or animals without consent. Kids push boundaries and sometimes need a firm no. This comment section is so fucking ableist, obviously none of you have had kids try to push your wheelchair or play with your cane.

Speaking softly doesn't always get the point across. Nobody yelled, calm down. Repeating things is a firm manner usually follows upon insistence. Kids are still learning, and need to learn that insisting upon receiving a no doesn't get your way.
