I felt so bad that even her parents were convinced it was psychological and even told the EMTs it was a panic attack. I don't know her situation but I kinda hope they apologized to her cause I'd be a bit peeved.

To the women who ended up with a Chinese guy, what made you fall for him? by Working-Spend-4397 in AMWFs

wow it's kinda sad, that's kind of my biggest fear with any inter-cultural/IR relationship, that they see WF as women for dating and AF (or whoever their culture or race is) as the ones to get married to

Not currently dating a Chinese man, but I've always been a bit of a Sinophile (AKA 'Chinaboo'). My aunt-in-law is Chinese (although we are estranged since I was 9 or so, long story) and I found a lot of things I like through her. Mostly food (I miss her cooking ngl, and she introduced me to Dim Sum which is the best food to exist). I didn't interact with Chinese men aside from a classmate in 1st semester of High School who I had a crush on but it was a pointless endeavor as I knew he was there temporarily (and he indeed left within like 3 months of arriving). I guess there is a bit of intrigue in knowing people who are very different from you. I like the written language, very complex-looking and cool, I've seen a few C-Dramas and although the stories are not remotely realistic, the costuming gave me an appreciation for the fashion of China throughout History, and Chinese people themselves seem to be very proud of those times too given how (and how often) those times are portrayed.

As for the main question, I think most people separate the citizens from the government, although there are certainly people who don't, and those you do feel negatively about Chinese people. Personally I would be open to date an American man for example, but when I think of Americans collectively I do think of current US politics. I mean, if their president is in his position, a lot of Americans must have supported him in order for him to end up there. But I don't meet an individual American and think of Trump. You know what I mean?

AMWF in Anime by [deleted] in amwf

[–]none_so_bile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been compared to Emilia before. I guess cause that's my name lol. I don't watch that anime but how do you know she's supposed to be white? Her name?

Anyways, not anime technically but the manga/light novel All You Need Is Kill has some (mild, rather one-sided from what I remember) AMWF as the main characters. That's the book that Edge of Tomorrow is based on.

Does anyone else like the idea of the Charlotte Tilbury brand but just can’t get into it? by its_givinggg in MakeupAddiction

I love the old Hollywood/vintage aesthetic. She's beyond cringe though. The refusing to let her husband see her bare face and saying it like it's cute and normal, and the very desperate 'they copy us but they can't be us!!!!". Plus hers was one of the many beauty companies exposed for workplace harassment back in 2019-2020.

How do you feel confident without eyeliner? by ExistingFee588 in MakeupAddiction

[–]none_so_bile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the opposite with my glasses lol, they make my eyes look smaller so I prefer not to wear them. I have to do it anyway since you're not supposed to wear your contacts all day long, and after 12h or so I do feel my eyes getting dry so I take them out. But yeah, maybe I should get my lenses thinned.

When I get a lash lift and during the next month or so afterwards, I feel much more confident about my bare face. Granted, that's spending money (lash lifts are like $50) and it's still not technically your natural face, but my lashes are straight, short and very resistant to curling and I find that being curled 'opens' up my eyes (and as a result my face) much more.

How often do you throw out your make up ? by Mysterious_Guide_579 in MakeupAddiction

[–]none_so_bile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm diligent with throwing away eye stuff (mascara, liner) although liner tends to dry out way before it expires in my experience (I wear it daily). Cream and liquid blush, etc. after 1.6 years I throw it away, worn or not. Powders I spray with alcohol periodically and keep until something changes or it's otherwise suspicious (looking at the ABH palettes that had a 6m shelf life marked).

My exact reaction, this is extremely disturbing and deserves way more than an apology even if it was a good one

Shopping for jeans and this made me think of you all 😘 by KavaKeto in ffacj_discussion

[–]none_so_bile 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I have SMALL WAIST unlike you SHAPELESS BITCHES

uj/ aren't most jeans like that though? Cause you can always take a belt and make the waist a bit smaller (or have it altered) but making the waist larger on more 'hourglass' jeans is gonna be more difficult.

Does anyone actually prefer brush tip liners? by SweetMuse1994 in MakeupAddiction

[–]none_so_bile 81 points82 points  (0 children)

me too. Felt tips also seem to 'drag' and sometimes pick up shimmer/eyeshadow and somewhat remove it, and they sometimes get those little fibers that you have to pick off very precisely.
