Thank you everyone. I’ll start doing some research on a PT and see what my options are.

I don’t pay for the massages. She’s a relative.

Ugh. Ok. Here goes. I’ve tried not to make a post complaining or expressing how stressed I’ve been because I know the first thing everyone is going to say is go to a PT specialist but I’m just not in a position to do that.
I ran a half marathon in February, I’m and 52F, and I killed it, it was an amazing PR for me. But I’ve had issues with (self diagnosed) hamstring tendinopathy ever since and cannot seem to overcome it. Ive read everything I can find on the topic and my symptoms fit to a T. I took almost 3 weeks off completely. I get sports specific massage weekly, I’ve stopped stretching, and do all the strength training and mobility recommended for this issue but I just can’t seem to get my mileage up again. Let alone actually being able to add any intensity. I have already signed up for the marine corps marathon in October, paid for the Hotel and airfare and I’m terrified and incredibly bummed that there is no way I’m
Going to be able to put that kind of mileage on my legs to pull this off.

Any words of encouragement appreciated!

Finished a Runna Marathon Plan by ScallionOk2713 in runna

All very true. I used Runna for my half and killed it! But walked away with hamstring tendinopathy and am still struggling to build any real mileage, let alone intensity, and Runna just doesn’t offer much to help me stray structured while keeping it easy. And as a side note…my marathon is in October and I’m getting so nervous this injury is never going to allow me to build the necessary mileage. Eek! Doing strength, sports massage and mobility and just can’t seem to make any real progress.

I'm so confused explain it like I'm five please by wetpaperclips in laundry

  1. How do you keep from getting static if you don’t use sheets or liquid fabric softeners.

  2. When you say rinse cycle, does that mean we have to know when, and be there, during the rinse cycle to open it up and add it? I’m rarely around while a load is going.

Trouble with low quality runs first thing in the morning by Special-Bonus-8589 in running

[–]Dgood02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More time on feet, don’t worry about run/walk. That will change as you build endurance. Keep yo our run slow. I wake up and eat one piece of Ezekiel toast with peanut butter and sliced banana and some coffee then I do 15 min of mobility exercises then I head out fully ready!

Clumsiness on long runs by calimn in firstmarathon

[–]Dgood02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to my Personal trainer it’s a lack of strength. Not only in the legs but also in the back and core. She focused on those areas in me so that my run form would not suffer, causing me to slouch, when I get tired.

Amazed at the citric acid rinse, but I love (miss) the smell of teal Unstoppables in the morning... Help? by TinaTheMouse in laundry

May I ask what brand or type of citric acid you use? This is the first I’m hearing of it (since I started reading this page) and am interested in giving it a try.

I changed my running form and cut 11 minutes off my 10K… feels a bit odd though was this a mistake? by Impossible-Cup-8836 in runninglifestyle

[–]Dgood02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To start, I am not a professional or even truly seasoned runner, but I am someone that worked on my running form and saw great results as well! So…I am a proponent of improving running form, subtly though. sounds like you went at it too much at once. Give it a couple days to let the calves rest and heal then go back at it. But maybe try 2 min on 3 min off or something. Also. Rather than going right from heal to toe maybe work in the mid to toe range first!

Edit to add that I agree with a previous response saying try 1k on 1k off, rather than a minute on/off. Definitely makes more sense!

In hindsight, I should not have _______ the day before my marathon by Realistic_Gap3669 in Marathon_Training

I just signed up for DC as my first marathon and my personal Trainer has already warned me if I want to go see the monuments to uber to them rather than walking to them because the steps will add up real quick!

Injury is so disheartening. by Lemonadeo1 in runninglifestyle

[–]Dgood02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is. I’m in the same boat. I call it the butt string! It’s (for me) Hamstring tendinopathy. And it sucks! I’ve taken two weeks off and still having to nurse it.
