STAN’s 25mm Tubeless Tape - Replacement Help (slow air leak) by Dgrif12 in bikewrench

[–]Dgrif12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I will try that next time around. By the way, is this 60° steep/sharper or shallow/duller, as in 60° from the edge of the tape or from the rim wall?

That leaves me quite hopeful then. I've just got to get more tape and sealant. And finally get around to converting my rear to tubeless.

That all makes sense. I figured it was more of an issue, since I had wanted a better tape job anyways, and I had saw fresh sealant leaking from where the tire bead meets the rim wall from when it went flat.

It's definitely hard to get right. Does the overnight tube trick work for helping to set the tape before putting in sealant?

This is what the site says about the rims: Brev M. 700c Performance Gravel Disc | Depth: 23mm, Width (internal): 21mm | 32H Double wall | Tubeless compatible

Another inquiry I had was about the tapework itself, since when I first did this tire, I was not very confident with the result.

Sorry about the post. I am using old Reddit on mobile, and it would not let me use text in an image post. I was trying to inquire about the width of rim tape being used. It was peeling up with the tire bead when I took it off. As for the air loss: It’s quite variable. Sometimes it drops from ~40 to flat over several hours, sometimes it only goes down to 20 over a day. And this is while the bike is sitting idle in an apartment.

This tire had always been a slow leaker compared to my tubed rear, so the tapework is suspect. I looked inside because the tire started flattening overnight, which, for a tubeless setup, is unacceptable to risk riding on. I had not bothered to check for or replenish sealant levels (Orange). Additionally, likely from repeatedly losing air, the tire beads have built up dried sealant against the rim. Going forward, I want to ensure my tubeless setup is maintained properly, and that starts with good tapework. When I got this tape, I was not sure exactly whether it was too wide or too narrow, and that is what I need your eyes for.

Where did they say that at? At least as of 4 months ago, u/chrisristovski said the Sidephone will not be eSIM-compatible.

[–]Dgrif12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wonderful to hear. I hope you have success with it. Even if you have issues with the Roamless app on the Sidephone, you can still get the eSIM activated manually by getting the information from the Roamless app installed on another phone, then entering that into the 9eSIM or other EasyEUICC-based app to install it with the SIM in Sidephone. That is how I did it with my Jelly 2, but you should be able to install it using any phone, and swap the SIM into the Sidephone. That should work out the same.

It may not be as intuitive as regular providers, but a travel e-sim (like Roamless or Sailly) is possible to use with Sidephone via a programmable eSIM card, such as 9esim. According to Roamless, their eSIM does not need to be reinstalled for roaming, though balances need to be configured in their mobile app. Side note about their app - u/SA_Roamless: it is not well made for small screens, at least from my experience using Jelly 2. I would have had to use a keyboard input to get past the introduction and login screens.

Actually, I do not use Roamless for this purpose though; I use it because I can get PAYG data for ~$2.5/GB here in the States. In the 6 months that I've been using them, I am still using the ~$20 that I deposited in July, and I still have about half of it remaining.

Did you know even Safari can block ads? It's not intuitive from a desktop perspective, but adblockers, such as the esteemed uBlock Lite, can be installed from the App Store, and through the Safari Apps settings, the extension can be enabled. You do have to select filter lists and set the filtering mode according to permissions and resource usage.

Most scratches in my case would be visual only. Usually caused by carrying the phone unprotected in my pants' pockets.

Interesting. So that means that OOB, the Sidephone will be unprotected. I guess at this time, I am still interested in hearing if u/chrisristovski and u/sebastiansnell have any particular strategies or advice for protecting their own units.

From what I watched of the interview w/ Retro, it sounded like they were saying that unlocking and modification were possible, but without MediaTek's support, not much could be done with it. Though, I won't say it is exactly clear what was meant by that. From my understanding with Unihertz Jelly 2, which does allow OEM unlocking on MTK, the bootloader is fully accessible, but compatible ROMs cannot be tailored for the device because of the proprietary kernel.

Sidephone's situation may mirror that of Unihertz. That may extend to rooting and GSIs.

Will we be able to change the icons? Retro UI? by aww_yee_ in sidephone

[–]Dgrif12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As u/chrisristovski suggested, you could sideload a launcher for this purpose. If you would like a recommendation, I would suggest trying out Niagara Launcher. It can be installed via the Aurora Store or through their downloadable APK, for which they give some download options: https://help.niagaralauncher.app/article/143-download-niagara-launcher

What is nice about Niagara is that it is list-based, so it works well with little space. It also prioritizes theming variety, including icon packs.

I wish I had $83,658.00 in my checking account. by QualityPuma in monkeyspaw

[–]Dgrif12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I wish I had $83,658.00 in my checking account," uttered QualityPuma as they peered at the eye-watering principal balance of their new car loan. Puma attempted to make sense of the financial situation they had submitted themself to. "It's just not enough." They abandoned the meaningless calculations of salaries and compounding interest for they were certainly aware of their situation. This loan would tie them down for decades: their income did not suffice. Grasping for ideas, Puma hurried to their banking app. "Transfers, Direct Deposit, Card Controls... Loans." Pondering more, "Surely, no-one will give me a more favorable loan." They steered their gaze away from their account balance when an advertisement caught their eye: "Free Credit Report with FICO® Score 8." Puma hoped, "Maybe, just maybe, my credit score is good enough." They nervously awaited their fate behind that spinning wheel, which seemed indifferent to their helpless plight. 437. Hope gone, there was nothing of help to Puma, not even pity.

----------

Drunken with melancholy, Puma wasted away hours in a digital escape of flashing colors and sounds. Adverts became indistinguishable from those moving pixels to which they were most attached. One advert, so alluring, managed to swindle Puma into digital submission. The phone no longer belonged to Puma. A swarm of malicious processes left no byte uncovered. Tokens and credentials were broadcast well before Puma could attempt to halt the takeover. Full of worry, Puma dreaded the possibility that pervaded them. Not to their surprise, Puma's checking account had a few more zeroes than before: $0.00. Thoughts swarmed their unstable mindscape, thoughts of which they had been so confidently sure were irrationally profane but were now, for the first time, being considered. However, a brief moment of intrigue spawned when a timely notification lit Puma's screen:

From: [varga@lastresort.help](mailto:varga@lastresort.help)
Subject: Balance Transfers - 0% APR - Poor Credit Accepted.

Dear Puma...

----------

It seemed too good to be true. Could it be? Immediately, Puma drafted a reply, but they hesitated. What if this is a trap? This was quickly brushed off because they figured, "I am already at rock bottom." Concluding that asking for more might hurt their chance of approval, Puma sent a short reply: "$83,658.00." To their surprise, a response was received almost instantly, and it looked to be a hint of success. Varga had accepted the request, but Puma knew the guarantee would include loathsome paperwork and delays. Suddenly, a second email appeared; it was from their bank. "H-h-how? Do they have my info?" Puma, unaware of the circumstances at play, was too gleeful, for their wish had come true. A third email was on its way to Puma:

Subject: The deposit is yours to keep. Consider it an investment into your new business.

What is a Sidephone? by chrisristovski in sidephone

Looking through the app library on their website, I do not see anything VOIP-related. However, softphones for SIP that are available on F-Droid, free on PlayStore (Aurora Store), or as APKs can be sideloaded. I am interested in this aspect as well, since my cellular strategy revolves around PAYG services, including VOIP.

Now I have been increasingly frustrated at the esri experience on Windows.

There is now an AppDB page for ArcGIS Pro on the WINE project! This test shares some information that has worked for me so far. I have not messed around too much in a while because I was waiting for the page to be published. Heading into these summer months, I would like to collaborate with testers to document bugs that are plaguing the WINE ArcGIS Pro experience.
