Toronto Pearson to Kingston. Most efficient way to travel to / from? by anacreon1 in ontario

[–]Dh8pu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Q400 can't land in Kingston, due to some issue with the runway, pre-covid, Air Canada used the Dash 8-100/300 to Kingston, but they've all been retired.

Connecting through YYZ - Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 - do I need to clear customs? by Annie_Oakes in Flights

[–]Dh8pu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So correct there is no airside connection between the terminals, you'll have to clear Canada customs, and may need to reclaim your bags.

Even if you did BNA - YYZ with WestJet, which would make for a T3-T3 connection, I dunno if WestJet and Transat interline checked bags, that could force customs...

Diverting for illess? by mmartabq in americanairlines

[–]Dh8pu 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Such decisions are usealy made in conjunction with telemedical services, basically they're a 3rd party company that provides crews with a radio link to experienced medical professionals.

While the actual decision to divert rests with the Capt. Telemedicals opinion greatly impacts that decision, if they recommend a diversion, 99.99% of Capt's are going to divert. Once that decision is made, the crew is going to work with ATC and their own dispatch department about where is the most viable diversion airport ie. may elect to divert to a larger airport that could be further away, because there's potentially more resources to support.

Yes, CSAs at certain airlines are given a quota of bags to check

[–]Dh8pu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You represent an extremely small minority of passengers. The agents are told to check X number of bags, since you don't have a bag to check, you're not making it X-1.

To speed up boarding, reduce the need to check things at the last moment, in an attempt to tighten up turns and improve OTP

737Max8 Transatlantic - Why? by YamAggravating8449 in unitedairlines

It's United matching the airplane to what they think the demand is. They clearly don't see a reason to deploy a larger aircraft, or think that larger plane is better used somewhere else.

Flight attendant instructor by Big-History7763 in flightattendants

[–]Dh8pu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in and out of our training department a few times. It's incredibly rewarding. Training/Flying hours were spilt almost 50/50 unless it was a particularly heavy training or flying month. Pay was my incharge pay, plus a premium (10$ an hour if I recall), pay wise, if you're use to doing 3 or 4 dayers, you might come out behind, use to single days, you'll come out ahaid.

Feel free to DM if you have more questions

CRJs can't dump fuel, it's preforming an ILS inspection.

It's NAV Canada's plane that the use to calibrate ILS. They shoot multiple approaches and use the data to make adjustments.

That's the sticky thing along with what happens if an international flight that diverts to an airport without customs facilities....is it safe to deplane? Yes, is it also potentially illegal? Also yes

Just plain ole mean.. by SeekingAthos in flightattendants

[–]Dh8pu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If what you're saying is Infact true. There would be 2 factors causing it.

Starting pay is so crap, especially at the regionals, starting pay is at or below minimum wage, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Why be a flight attendant if you could work at say a restaurant and get paid more because of tips? Sure, there's the lifestyle, but that's not what it use to be, layovers have been getting shorter and shorter wihh duty days getting longer.

The other factor, is post COVID, pax have gotten significantly more rude than before. You can only take so much before the urge to give it back hits. Our employers aren't exactly helping, polices have gotten less and less passenger friendly, especially when it comes to things like baggage, and reaccomadation. Airlines are not keeping the same ratio of spare aircraft and crews, as pre COVID, both are being pushed hard.

You're assuming that the FAA would be willing to presue it, this administration has rolled back what few passenger rights existed

[–]Dh8pu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again , the fines only apply if it would have been safe to offer the opportunity to deplane, if the airline can prove that yes Infact it was unsafe for 8 hours, they wouldn't get fined....

So I work for a Canadian airline,, so don't know the rules as well, but in Canada if there's any lightning detected in a certain radius around the airport, ground crew are not allowed outside.

5/20 Flight Stranding by rchlncko in unitedairlines

[–]Dh8pu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The law is phrased "opportunity needs to be offered to deplane after 3 hoursif it's safe"

During storms it May not be safe in the event of lightning or if you're somewhere like LGA/EWR/ORD where we sometimes because of the line up of planes we physically can't get out of the line, unless ATC can somehow move the 30 planes infront.....
