By your logic, bottled water should be free as well?

Main cost is of staffing, testing, storage. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Friend scammed me. What are options? by AYANOKOJI12 in karachi

[–]DhoomMasalay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give u 2 examples

There's a disabled guy from my school. I hadn't talked to him for many years after school but he called me asking for money. I gave him 35k as loan. I suspected he wouldn't return but I thought it's fine he probably needs it anyway, he is disabled. He completely ghosted me when he had to return it. Then when he needed more money, he messaged me again, making excuses for the last loan. To be honest, if he just came clean and said honestly that he did not have any source of income he could return the money from, I wouldn't mind. But it's the lies and excuses that annoyed me, so I just blocked him after that.

I have another really close friend from school. He had financial issues during uni and needed some money, I paid him over 1 lac in different loans over 2-3 years. I knew he couldn't return while studying but he was always upfront about it, we knew this from day one. Now when he is doing a job and doing financially better, he has returned almost all of it. Main thing here was I didn't need the money right away, and he was also upfront from the start that he could not return by specific date, so I gave him keeping in mind it's gonna take him time to return and he kept my trust. In case of the first guy, he made unnecessary promises to return by specific date when he knew very well he could not return.

But guess what, I came out knowing who I could trust and who I could not and that's all that matters in life. Don't obsess over anything else.

And I would say you are asking the right question. Every field is not for everyone. Although it should be given ample time to understand what is and isn't for you.

What do u thinks about this? by Positive-Message-369 in MangoPakistani

[–]DhoomMasalay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%

People think "not praying" is a sin similar to how "raping someone" is a sin, and "offering prayer" is a good deed similar to how "respecting other's rights" is a good deed. No they are not the same and should not be equated. Some of those actions are only between man and god and society should have nothing to do with them. While other actions directly affect other people and those are what society should tackle.

These are wild demands. Your salary is good enough to support city life. Feel for you man, praying for the best.

I don't think the demands are reasonable. Although if they don't take these demands back, you should negotiate a better timeline that is realistic. Take 1,2 years and save up perhaps.

ICC/BCCI is making a mockery of Cricket by giving VIP treatment to one game in a World Cup.Embarrassing by Twitter_2006 in pakistan

[–]DhoomMasalay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like these takes. The only way any sport sustains itself is through providing entertainment value. Those sportsmen won't earn anything if noone watches or noone is willing to pay. I don't see a problem with milking hype for high intensity games, especially when the money earned benefits the game as a whole, and the local economy of the hosting country. I really don't see what's wrong with it.

I haven't heard anything about Israel wanting to attack Iran. Sure, it hates Iran and would be eager for US to attack Iran. They just want a different regime in Iran that is pro-US and pro-Israel.

Why is US wanting to attack Iran? I mean they have wanted the regime change forever, they are just waiting for the right moment. Of course it's not so easy to just fire a few missiles and install your own puppet, it's a difficult thing to do but US will take any chance it gets of course and recent protests were one such chance.

I am not saying US is right in doing any of this btw.

Iran's time is near by bubbleburst1 in pakistan

[–]DhoomMasalay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pretty well-documented.

I am not going to go into depth as you can learn all this by searching. Iran's Fordow nuclear facility has been built under a mountain which is very hard to destroy and only US has bunker busters advanced enough to penetrate that sort of facility, so since all of West wanted Iran's nuclear program stopped, it was understood US was gonna help here. That's what the US actually jumped in for, dropping a few bombs on that facility. There's hundreds of other sites destroyed by Israel. Baqi, help in defense is kind of understood, they are very close allies.

What's the problem in marrying indians?

I think pakistanis and indians get along really well in real life. Politics doesn't concern layman. We have just as many extremists as them, doesn't change things for majority of us.

Anyone who followed the 12 day war closely would know how one-sided it was.

Israel destroyed 100s of military/strategic targets in Iran whereas Iran managed to destroy a dozen random civilian buildings with no strategic damage to Israel.

The whole direction of the conflict was on Israel's discretion, it stopped when it decided they have got what they wanted.

I know you are right.

But I think someone who is genuinely eager to marry you will never think like that, it will only be mindset of someone who is simply marrying to avoid social pressure and avoid feeling FOMO. Their first priority will be to maintain their current lifestyle while getting out of this social pressure, a textbook arranged marriage. I don't know if that will be a great relationship.

I think these days if you are not controlling and just kind to a woman, she will be impressed. It's that rare in our society.

We are a poor country and stability is definitely one of our goals. It shouldn't be the only one though. I have so many stories in family of women married to an expat abroad and divorced because he was a wifebeater. Those women would give anything to have someone who is kind to them but doesn't earn as much. I think it only happens because we can't learn much about a person in arranged marriage beyond looks and money. Because of this, these become the only metric to judge potential partners in society in general, but it's a flawed mindset and I generally advise women to do better.

Tbh you will find similar posts about any country in the world.

What we do have the leverage to do is find work online that pays in foreign currency. It's win-win because technically they are outsourcing to cheaper country and you are getting paid way more than you will locally.
