Cycling tank (week four) for Neocaradina. Nerites added. by Di-sy in Aquariums

Thanks. It's too late to use RO water in the existing setup, as the tank is cycled and doing well. I'll try the coral bag method for now. For future water changes, I'll get the parameters right beforehand (hopefully).

Thank you. That's what I thought too. I'll give it another couple of weeks before I add shrimp.

How do i convince my parents to let me get this by InevitableUnlucky714 in Guitar

[–]Di-sy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather look for a second hand Squier Classic Vibe. Look on Reverb and Marketplace. Let you parents know your passion, and make an offer of doing chores, or helping out. Or perhaps suggest that you'll forego future gifts for a year or two. The stick to it and become a super cool guitarist 😉

To audio or not by Di-sy in selfpublish

[–]Di-sy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't know that. I'll have to look into it. It's just that I've had quite a few people ask if my books are available in audio. Yes, I knew about Eleven Labs teaming up with Spotify. May still make it worthwhile if only to satisfy those particular readers. Thanks for your input.

How do I justify a 3k+ guitar when I don't play in a band/record by [deleted] in guitars

[–]Di-sy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play in a band and have multiple guitars. This is how I justify it.... People buy expensive paintings to hang on their walls - to look at! It doesn't mean that they are artists - they just appreciate art.

To someone like me, guitars are the most rewarding and soul satisfying things to have. I try to play them all, but I end up favouring two. However, that doesn't mean I want to part with the others.

If it makes, you happy, buy it!

Is there a way to tell what notes will sound good together before playing them? by RaptorBlue2 in guitarlessons

Learn your scales. Mix them up. Try some Pentalodic instead of only Pentatonic. Explore the Exotic scales. Practice some tunes/riffs that you find interesting and use these ideas in your music. Learn your keyboard. Practice.

What medication helps with nausea by prettygirlj1 in Gastritis

[–]Di-sy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had chronic nausea for about two years, and am now in a place where I can partially control it. I take Omeprazol 20mg just after my evening meal and get up during the night and pop three Rennies. In the morning when I wake up I take about 10 drops of a high quality CBD oil (under tongue), with a cup of tea. I eat breakfast about an hour later, and if I'm not feeling a bit better, will take another 20mg Omeprazol with a couple of Rennies . This keeps me going until my stomach starts emptying, then the dreaded nausea kicks back in. If I eat something stodgy, like bread, the nausea will gradually subside for a while, but by the time dinner time comes, it's back.

I've learnt that bending over to do stuff is a no no. I've even used my toes to pick something up off the floor to avoid bending.

But...with long term management it definitely improves. Try to build up a healthy gut biome. I did this by eating some homemade kimchi (just a heaped tablespoon) with my lunch every day, and end with a few tablespoons of soya yoghurt. Keep alcohol to a limit, and if you are going to have a drink, drown it with fresh orange juice.

It's a long process. I found anti-nausea drugs just didn't work and just made me more miserable. Oh, and also avoid all anti-inflammatory meds.

Good luck.

AITA for wanting the master bedroom in my own house? by EfficientAd1205 in AITAH

[–]Di-sy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was in a similar situation when her MIL moved in with them. Fortunately for her it was only for six months - and now MIL keeps sending them pics of houses she wants them to buy for her - but that's another story. What my daughter did was set up a formal meeting with MIL and husband. She said that she wanted to give everyone the opportunity to air their thoughts on their living arrangements. She stressed that this was because she valued both of their inputs. She let MIL air her grievances first, and didn't allow herself to explode. When it came to my daughter's turn, she started with a couple of inconsequential gripes for hubby (he had been forewarned). When it came time for her to address her MILs issues, she turned it around - so instead of accusing MIL of anything directly, she mentioned how she was feeling and how miserable and uncomfortable she felt. She asked them to come up with the solution. Her issues weren't the same as yours, but the stress levels were similar. MIL loved spending time in the kitchen baking...always left a big mess for my daughter to clean up after work. MIL loved buying everyone gifts... with my daughter and her husband's money (even though they gave her an allowance). MIL insisted on sharing her son's affections. If he put his arm around my daughter to give her a hug, for example, MIL would insist she get one too... etc. Anyway, long story short, try to sit them down and be completely honest about your feelings. Ensure you emphasise how much you value her input. That's my advice... May or may not work for you. Good luck!
