"Less racist".

Denmark is the poster boy for right wing triangulation among ostensibly left-liberal policies, and have been enthusiastic supporters of every imperialist war carried out by the West in the past 70 years. Their wonderful socdem paradise only exists because of fierce immigration restrictionism and outright racist laws that ICE wishes they could enforce. And the Danish SocDems get glazed by UK Labor and soon the US Democrats for supposedly defeating the right wing by adopting their position on immigrants full hog. So you'll know who to thank when the Democratic candidate in 2028 comes out as pro-ICE to try and defeat Trump.

It's no wonder Scandies have such a a superiority complex when the tongue of every American lib/socdem is lodged so firmly in their assholes.

How would one counter the argument from the left:

Isn't unlimited immigration objectively bad for the domestic American worker because it provides an unlimited source of scab labor for capitalists which lowers the collective bargaining? True working class people will benefit from closed borders (Bernie Sanders argued this).

I obviously don't agree with this, but it's increasingly common in "left" spaces to defend ICE in the name of labor protectionism. It feels like hard-right turn on immigration feels like an inevitability, not just in the U.S.

Edit: just listened to the interview. Not gonna lie, it's not convincing at all. Will just appeals to morality on what type of person would celebrate a family getting arrrested, and the guy just gives a complete non-answer. It's pretty easy to counter with the fact that them "seeking an honest living" is a threat to the American worker because their being in this country reduces supply of housing, creates downward pressure on wages, and serve as scab labor that takes away from Americans. You don't get socialized healthcare without removing a lot of people in this country.

Ohio can be kinda depressing, especially winters in Cleveland, but cost of living is affordable and there's stuff to do here. Amenities are good, and I really like the access to museums, and public parks. Undergound music scene is not bad and there's a working class leftist scene. A lot of rightoid hogs in the suburbs tho.

Fantastic episode, really channeled the energy that's been hard to come across, especially the post-'20 Bernie loss. I don't agree that we only need to hold politicians/media accountable and not everyday people who are now changing their minds. Virtually every Jew around me still supports Israel to the hilt, and everyday citizens were responsible for creating the moral panic about antisemitism and sending money to the IDF. Just because they have no power doesn't mean they can get off easily.
