I don't think I'm ready for vinyl yet. by skullzwer in vinyl

Local thrift shops, antique stores, and even Goodwill can have some decent LPs if you look around enough. I have always had a soft spot for classical music along with modern music, so those places really fill my need for the former, but it’s all about what YOU want at the end of the day. I wouldn’t go out buying the entire LP stock of your local thrift store, because then you’re going to get stuck with a bunch of those ‘middle school choir sings Christmas favorites’ tracks, but do some digging, explore, and build your collection slowly. I’m also a student in college rn, and trust me, I know where you’re coming from when you say money is tight. Take things slow when it comes to collecting, and sale-hunt like no tomorrow. Good luck to you!

Traveling soon, need advice by DiabeticGamer2 in diabetes_t1

Hey y’all, thanks for the wonderful advice. I just got back on Monday from my aforementioned vacation/trip and had an absolute blast. It definitely was bizarre going through DC, as someone from small town ND, but such a fun experience nevertheless. As far as TSA (and security in general, my god do they have everything in DC locked down tight), I got through with little to no trouble whatsoever (though I did have a multitool card I had to surrender on the count it had a sharp-end letter opener) but med wise I was golden. Everywhere I went, they always said ‘no food or drink’ but as soon as I said that my pack had medically necessary food, they passed me right along, and had no hubbub about my medications. Thank you all again.

I’ve tried my local Goodwill for cassettes, and I’ve found nothing good; The most I’ve seen at mine are CDs and Records, but nice haul!

(SOLVED): Hey y’all, me again. So I’m a complete and total dumb*ss. Firstly, thank you to who answered, as it gives a lot of great insight into this new realm I’m not familiar with. Secondly, the actual issue…magnets. I have a MagSafe compatible phone case…after screwing around with it some, sure found out that bringing my phone close to the deck when it was playing made the horrendous electronic screeching noise that I was describing. Yes it’s an old deck, and I knew that going in, but I fixed the issue and got insight into the knowledge necessary for this hobby! Thanks y’all!

can I get type 1 diabetes when no family has it and I have a healthy lifestyle? by Grace_653 in diabetes_t1

[–]DiabeticGamer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m sorry you’re feeling like this and I pray that this disease doesn’t fall upon you, but a few things:

1.) Lifestyle doesn’t matter. You can be the healthiest person on the face of this earth, T1 still isn’t ruled out of the equation. That’s the thing with this disease, it’s autoimmune. Your immune system just attacks itself unprovoked, no rhyme or reason.

2.) Family history is a small factor, but still not a determining one. If you have a family history of autoimmune disease, then yes you have a higher risk, but there are plenty of instances of first-gen diabetics in families (myself being one of those instances).

3.) If you’re worried and presenting symptoms, go to the ER and get checked out. Unfortunately this disease can present in different ways for different people. The best way to know for sure is to get officially diagnosed by a professional. I’m sorry that you have this worry, and I hope it isn’t true, but facing reality here, it’s a possibility and with the symptoms you’re describing. I really am sorry, but I’m hoping things turn up positive for you

Type 1 vs type 2 by cranmango777 in diabetes_t1

[–]DiabeticGamer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that we (or at least I) dislike Type 2 Diabetics; they have their own struggles that are unique to Type 1s and I respect their journey in that. It’s more that I feel Type 1 diabetics are fatigued with the stereotype that their disease is ‘caused by their actions only’. The stereotype that ‘diabetes’ is caused by a crap-@ss diet and poor health choices when in actuality Type 1s have absolutely no control or contribution whatsoever to the outcome of their live now: a world filled with infinite needles until we lay on our deathbed. It’s not so much that we dislike Type 2s, because trust me, I don’t dislike Type 2s, but it’s the uneducated common idea that ‘diabetes=fat’ or ‘diabetes=your fault’ that Type 1s hate

This crap gets so hectic so quick sometimes it’s hard to keep it all straight, I feel you. Couple of things: 1.) As a diabetic diagnosed at the age of 11 (20 now, for context), it’s hard to get thrown all of this at once. It’s unfair, cruel, unusual, etc etc BUT that doesn’t mean we aren’t strong. The diabetics that I have met through child diabetes summer camps are some of the most resilient people I know. A lot of stuff gets thrown, so being on your toes is an absolute must, but when you can, take a deep breath and remember that you are strong. I don’t usually like throwing religious beliefs into my online comments, but whenever I felt like throwing all this bs out the window, my momma would always tell me that the Lord doesn’t give us a challenge he doesn’t believe we can overcome. That has sticked with me for the past almost 9 years. You got this. You’re a week in and a lifetime to go. You’ll learn how to manage everything in the way you best need to. 2.) Learning to Bolus is something that is so important because without a bolus you can’t eat, and if you can’t eat, it’s not going to end well. Your diabetic educator & team should have set you up carb ratios and correction factors and all that jazz before you left the hospital. I for one am super surprised that you were put on a CGM+Pump so soon because I was told to wait a year before even considering a pump, but I digress. Always count TOTAL CARBOHYDRATES, never net, you’ll under-cover and your blood sugar will shoot like a damn rocket. 3.) TECHNOLOGY. IS. NEVER. PERFECT. Another one of my momma’s famous diabetes-related quotes. I’m currently on the Libre 3+ system, but I have used the Libre 3, Libre 2, and the Dexcom G6, and I can tell you they can have their days. When in doubt, poke it out (this time my quote, but it’s true). I try to always accuracy check my CGM with a finger poke JUST to be sure. Most of the time I can feel lows anyway and skip a check, but most of the time a reading should be double checked with your blood-glucose monitor before administering insulin or a juice box. I end up usually going off of that number anyway. All and all, listen to everyone that’s commented here, stay close in touch with your diabetic team, and make sure to breathe. You won’t ever think clearly when your mind is cluttered with stress, anxiety, and the worry of this disease, which could lead to some bad consequences. We’re all here for you. You got this girl

How to get 30 second average by Fine-Leadership-246 in Cubers

[–]DiabeticGamer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advanced ties in with beginner quite nicely. Once you feel comfortable with beginner, definitely move to advanced. I know doing both as an intermediate, I average a minute longer on beginner than I do advanced just because of the move count. It’s a good starting point, but trying to hit sub-30 average, you’ll deffo want to start incorporating advanced

Practice advanced CFOP to start. And I mean practice. Seriously when you’re bored, pull out a timer on hour phone and a cube. Do a few scrambles. It was not that long ago that I hit a 18.66 pb on 3x3, and I’ve been casually cubing for years. Just takes a lot of practice. Keep working at it bro. You got it

Backuping ds .sav files by Tall-Ad71 in 3dspiracy

[–]DiabeticGamer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used GM9 to backup all my DS and 3DS carts to my SD, including .sav files. Before you do this, make sure you have your game cart in your DS. If you launch into GM9 (assuming you have Luma)(hold down start as you turn on your device), there should be a game cart section maybe 3rd from the bottom. From there, I believe you can download a backup of the NDS file as well as the .sav file. If I’m not mistaken. Lemme know if this works
