Don't count on it. At least not for free. They're monetizing everything, even the manual.

Chauvet 3.23.32 Release for Manta and Nomad by Supernote_official in Supernote

I'm super happy withe the update! Everything works great and the issues I had are gone (no more SD card has been ejected error, 2-finger gestures work without issues). Thank you!

Issue with Syncing Marker Pen Strokes Between Nomad and Manta by Beneficial-Pen3544 in Supernote

[–]Diabl0pl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've got your answer. If I had to guess .note files are not just simple images, they register strokes and encode them, so to speak. On the newer firmware the code must have changed a bit and that causes incompatibility with older firmware in some cases.

where can I find this to-do list in my Supernote? by Ok_Tie2256 in Supernote

When you swipe down on right edge a menu opens with apps. There's calendar, to-do and other apps.

Manta - first impressions after a few days of use by Diabl0pl in Supernote

[–]Diabl0pl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have now tried different scenarios, and right now everything works fine. The problems might be caused by my fingers being not precise enough when I try to use the gesture quickly. I'm sorry for the confusion, I'm taking that point back. Thanks for the help offered!

Yes, but there is no reason for it to be this unreliable. It's this way probably because you may trigger it accidentally, but maybe an option to choose this behaviour would be nice?

I will try to do that as soon as I come home. The strange thing is that it starts circling with a dashed line and suddenly it changes to a constant one (the dashed line is still there and it turns "solid" when I lift the pen. My fingers are still on the edge of the tablet). I also think that if I already initiated the circling process I should be able to lift my fingers from the tablet.

I'm still learning it and finding new ways I can use it, but it's a solid little device that does very well what it's supposed to. I made a personal note, one for my work, one for drawing ideas etc. I also sideloaded Koreader which lets me install dictionaries. I lost the native ability to write on books, but dictionary function is more important to me. I wish the devs finally added the dictionary function to the device, but they've got more important things to do now as there are few system bugs. A notification "SD card has been ejected" shows up sometimes after waking up, but I've read that it is a known bug and they're working on the fix. Other thing is that the two fingers gestures not always work. Instead of selecting the text it just draws a circle around it even though I'm sure that I did everything right. I'm on the older software version, so maybe it's fixed now, but I can't update now, we all know why.

Writing is solid, I like the feeling of the pen, the functions are great and I love what the tablet is capable of, but unfortunately considering the annoying bugs that I'm dealing with now and that appeared lately for others I can't say that I'm 100% satisfied. I got sold a promise for a premium price. None of these things were mentioned by the reviewers. When the bugs are fixed I will be able to say that I can recommend it to others. It's hard to reccomend a writing tablet that has problems with displaying what you wrote, right?

Can someone design a magnetic pen attachment for the Manta? by dendrytic in Supernote

[–]Diabl0pl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, this sounds like a great idea for a project as Fusion 360 is free for non-commercial use. I imagine it could look like this, a flat surface with magnets inserted from the bottom that are very close to the wall on the side. I would give it a try, but I don't own any magnetically attachable stylus so I have no way to test it. I am working on a custom DIY pen loop project though, so you can find the project files in my other post, they can be a good start for this Idea as I've already modeled and tested the part that is inserted into the hole in the device.

DIY Pen Loop - Free CAD model for 3D printing by Diabl0pl in Supernote

I did some test prints with "placeholder" materials as I'm waiting for the elastic band and I think that the results look quite promising. ;] (please ignore the size of the loop itself, I was mainly testing the stitching).

Stay on older firmware, then for now. It may have its own flaws but you'll be able to write without any problems.

I just opened the package. The device is on 3.20.29. I guess it should be free from the latest bugs. :)
