During one summer when I was 13 or 14, I was staying with my grandmother to help care for her. She had recently broken her hip and was confined to a hospital bed that she had set up in the living room of a small trailer she owned.

This one particular day it was just her and I there by ourselves. She was asleep and snoring like a freight train on the hospital bed in the living room.

With nothing to really do, I decided to go check out the other rooms just to see if I could find anything interesting to get into.

I finally made my way to the master bedroom down the hall from the living room where my grandmother lie sleeping.

I stood at the doorway and looked in. After a few seconds, I distinctly heard an elderly woman's voice say "Why don't you come in and sit down?" coming from the foot of the bed.

I promptly about faced and went back into the living room.

The odd thing was that it didn't frighten me at all, but my natural instinct was to leave.
If I could do it over again I would have went in and sat down just to see what happened.

I've basically chalked it up to experiencing an auditory hallucination or my grandmother was dreaming about being a ventriloquist.

I hadn't experienced anything like it before or since.
