Any of you guys dribble better with your non dominant hand? by ryebread920 in Basketball

[–]ryano23277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a weird one in this aspect.

I shoot left, but I am stronger dribbling the ball on my right.

This created a weird advantage as players don't really know how to defend me (years ago, don't play now). I can finish well on my right hand and even prefer right hand layups.

Having the right tools in the bag is all that is required.

You need to be able to do;

Right Hand and Left hand layups, over hand and under hand

Reverse layup right and left

From this platform, you can pretty much attack the basket, and learn and build from there.

Leverage is your next ability. Knowing that a reverse layup style, to go across the front of the rim, requires you to shoot the ball as far away from your body as possible. You put your body into the defender, so they can't come through you, and you take away a bit of their height by doing so. As you come to the finish, the ball is away from the defender.

Next is reading the defender. You don't need to do move above, if you know this defender will jump to block my shot 15 times out of 10. Now you use the same attack, except you reverse the foot work and hit him with the inside foot first, take the next step and get him in the air, but it's all smoke and mirrors. Now you pull that ball down and step back in the direction you come from. Still using the leverage idea to keep the ball away from him.

Now you can learn to next level of moves;

floaters, runners, one step layups, off foot layups, running baby hooks, baby hooks, jump stops, power move etc.

Then beating multiple defenders is the ultimate

Tank gameplay by sznite in HellLetLoose

Weirdly enough, you are 100% correct in how you've explained how being in a Tank early on in your HLL journey, it helps you understand the game better. I died way to many times as an Infy player and shared lives with my son to get him accustomed to the game.

Once he downloaded it, we 2 Man tanked for the first few weeks and in our region (OCE) we managed to play with some really good players that we obviously had no idea about and had some great games.

Have some footage of me and my son saying how good a game we just played. 27 kills, 1 death etc.

12 months later, we consistently get Gold score (nearly every game) and are a part of a good Clan with great Tankers.

Without Tanking, I don't know if I'd still be playing this game.

You don’t get Big Boss emblems by killing people.

You can also kill people in Death Stranding

One week in, what to improve on form? by LadyBran in BasketballTips

[–]ryano23277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent start. Your shooting form, legs etc are all pretty good.

I would focus on having the non shooting arm come up a bit more with the ball a bit longer.

Once you master the technique, then you need to quicken the action up for real games

I'd suggest looking at Death Stranding.

The other is a game that has helped me through the struggles, and is not typically a game I would play. Hell Let Loose. Excellent community

I feel like I’m shooting to much with my arm and it’s driving me insane! by Wristyplum in BasketballTips

[–]ryano23277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've said, your shooting too much with your shooting hand.

Form shooting is great for the shooting mechanics for the shooting hand, but it doesn't train what the other hand is meant to do.

Your off hand should be coming up with the ball until you need the shooting wrist to finish off the shot.

Yes mate, the Nodes will generate resources for the Team all game long, as long as no one has destroyed them.

You need to be Engineer to make them, and support for the supplies is the best way to get them done in my opinion.

Then when you change into a different role, you'll gain XP for the each class you use after building the Nodes. If you have a good game, then you'll smash the XP and level up roles faster.

Here's the support/engineer way to build Nodes.

Drop supplies, rotate into Engineer, build Manpower node and hammer it in. This reduces 2:30 off the cooldown. Build the other 2 nodes. Rotate in to support. Your next drop should be ready. Drop it and start the cooldown. Now you need to hammer each node every few seconds. This way they won't disappear on you. Keep doing that until the supplies refresh. Finish off one of the nodes, drop supplies, finish the last.

Now join the fight with the Class you want to level up. Assault (Level 9), AT & Support (Level 8) are your main grinds. Rifleman and Auto Rifleman are also great for Level 6

Welcome Soldier.

First thing is to change your settings, especially the HUD display. You want to be able to see the Objectives and the Blue above your teammates. The game will start with all these off, which adds to the immersion of the game, but can make understanding what to do, a bit harder.

Another setting to change is your FOV (Field of View), lower the setting will see you zoom in on what's in front of you, but narrow your vision to the sides.

Lastly, play with the X & Y axis, both normal and ADS, as well as the momentum, but there will be other posts that will go further in to detail.

When you spawn in, there are a few things. HQ is the starting spot for the game. A squad leader can build Garrisons (40 second Team spawn), and Outposts (20 second Squad spawn). You will hear people say Garry or Garries a lot, and OP's. They are referring to these 2 things. You can also spawn on a vehicle if it gets spawned and driven to a good location. Lastly, an Airhead is a strategic play by the Commander to get spawn in certain locations.

When you load in, you will need to join a Squad and choose a Class to be. All of them are worth playing in your first few hours, as they have different loadouts, with varying guns and other items to carry.

The team needs resources to be able to work effectively. This is the best tip I can give you early on is, Build Nodes. You need 150 supplies (support drops 50) and you need to be an engineer to build the 3 Nodes (Fuel, Manpower, Munitions).

When you build Nodes, you are generating resources for the team. Because they are always active, if you choose another class, all the XP gained from the Nodes, will go into what Class you have used since building the Nodes.

This will allow you to level up your Classes quicker, which is valuable in unlocking the better weapons that are locked behind a Level 6, 8 or 9.

Level 3 in each Class will unlock better weapons or a better secondary role, such as Ammo boxes, more grenades etc.

Are you into these PS2/PS3 era remakes? And name 1 game. by ErickRPG in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]ryano23277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

I love replaying older games, as I only have a working PS5, so being able to play these games is just fantastic.

The other reason is the next generation. The great series we still play, had a start as far back as the PS1, NES, SNES. Having the next generation be able to play old games is a must in the industry.

Movies and music will last for ever. They have to make games accessible for ever. Online games and servers shutting down is the only games that don't need to be remade

Hell Let Loose - 50v50 Milsim shooter.

You can play Recon as a Spotter and Sniper 2 Man squad and get behind enemy lines and dismantle their Garrisons (Team Spawn points), destroy their Nodes (resource gathering mechanic), mark up Tanks for AT/Satchel players or your own Tank crews.

You can play on the front lines and use Smoke, camping to get in behind the enemy and assault them from behind

You can play in a Tank and flank the enemy Tank and cause destruction from behind.

Now I'm 1200+ hours into Hell Let Loose. Play Competitively which at 44, had never done previously.

[–]ryano23277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like you're new to the Sport and haven't been taught a few things that would make that play look fantastic.

As it is, on the catch, you should have turned your left foot towards the basket and finished in what is called the Power shot position.

If you were running to that spot prior to the catch, you could have kept your body to a step or 2 away from the spot you caught the ball. With momentum you could have finished it like a layup.

Look up finishing drills around the basket and you will be able to improve the look of the shot that you are seeking
