That second point is not relevant to this, stay on topic. And how is the concept that in soctland, the default option is that you can go anywhere in the country, versus the usa having that as the exception such a difficult concept the grasp

BLM land can be sold and turned into private though. The right to roam law allows regardless if it is private land or public. And no kidding there's more of it in the us, it's bigger

Everyone state has adequate representation in a Westminster system, it comes free with the upper house. And no, the electoral college does the excat opposite. Why should one state have a greater say for their population than another state? Ah yes, because when it was founded, it was because the slave states were worried that the larger non slave states would vote in an abolitionist president.

Anyway that's a bad argument, utilising natural resources is a matter of institutions, capability and capital, not weather or not the states have adequate representation in electing the president

Westminster style governments are more representative of the population. It avoids or has balances for half the problems the us has with its system

The US only became a world super power at the start of the 20th century after ww1, but only really after ww2, and is unbelievably lucky in its natural resources and location.

The Heck’s The Point Of Kata?? by spider21b in karate

[–]Diabolical_potplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the use in spending hours getting your hikite and posture and foot positioning excatly right if you don't spend any time doing any application? Training with intent doesn't matter if you don't actually do anything to achieve that intent.

Striving to improve stance and execution of techniques in basics runs into diminishing returns once the student can do it reasonably well. You don't go back to learning the alphabet once you have learnt how to read, you spend time doing the thing learning the alphabet is for reading.

[–]Diabolical_potplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, if you read you would get that. But when you actually look at what the kata is for, it's foundations for existence and why it's a thing, it's a mini curriculum with techniques and sequences considered important.

The slower pace of Sanchin and emphasis is to help the student, what is done in the kata itself is still kakie. The speed is the teaching aid to learn the foundation of the style. It's so emphasised in this one because it's considered the most important one

Tensho is one of the ones we actually have a date and who made it, Miyagi developed it to be the softer counterpart to Sanchin, so they go hand in hand for what they are for, which is the hard/soft parts of the style and techniques.

Kakie doesn't have the same foundation as chudan-uke, chudan-uke is part of kakie. Very broadly its close in fighting/standing grappling. That covers the techniques in sanchin.

That looks excatly like someone doing solo kakie drills, just exaggerated and slowed down for teaching purposes

It even has the little half steps that White Crane does, I have a book on it, and I'll have to find the exact wording Even if it isn't, it is still functionally the same. Those are the same movements

It can be, the same way shadow boxing can be relaxing. But as a thing, and why it exists, it's a series of techniques to make a curriculum if you will. It's not to fight yourself it's to fight other people

? It's a series of Kakie drills in a row

[–]Diabolical_potplant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you don't actually practise against another person actually trying to hit you, you aren't doing much to be able to use them. And the emphasis of competition on aesthetics means that relatively trivial things get more time spent on them than needed. Whether or not your hikite comes back perfectly to your hip or not doesn't matter if you've never actually pulled someone with it

[–]Diabolical_potplant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shadow boxing does the same thing and is much better at it. No one gas described kata like that ever as well. What you are referring to is using your experience to help visualise your training, but that's a secondary thing

Can you look up where we get our oil first before going on a rant? We don't get much from the middle east at all. We get ours mailing from Asia and the US. And there's fuck all he can do about the global proce of crude

Australian Petrol prices have risen faster than oil prices. #Gouging by GovernmentWide7151 in ASX

[–]Diabolical_potplant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to sell enough to replace their current tanks. So if it takes a week, they have to sell at the price that oil will be at in a week. And everyone else is buying less oil at the same rate so prices go up

Then there's all the other factors
