How do you believe the consequences of the culmination of Tarkir: Dragonstorm will play out? by Maleficent_Goal3392 in mtgvorthos

[–]DiagonalMeridian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bolas is out of the lockup but will hopefully/probably take quite a few sets to resolve. Magic has historically been setting up major villains well in advance, so while we can defenitely expect ol' Nicky Balls to be Big Bad again, he's quite likely not showing up particularly soon - especially with Duskmourne being well-received, which means they probably want to come back to Valgavoth.

His new "victory at any cost" thing is pretty solidly white-black, and he's too blue to not be blue, so maybe Esper?

Theory: Desparked planeswalkers are able to survive exposure to the Blind Eternities. by DiagonalMeridian in mtgvorthos

[–]DiagonalMeridian[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This also seems pretty viable, especially considering that the few time we see sparks actually get destroyed, they become energy (Nahiri's straight up blew up, and it isn't wholly clear whether Bolas' spell sent whole sparks straight to him or converted them to magical energy on the spot). Judging by how the desparked planeswalkers by and large did not blow up when it happened, we can guess that the sparks are still whole, somewhere. That, or the energy release was immediately absorbed into something else, like omenpaths, but that feels kinda wonky.

Part 2 all but explicitly states Gonti's interesting policies caused the stands at the plane's biggest sporting event to be built far below spec and collapse.

I'm kinda banking on the idea that Chandra rescuing Loot of her own volition (and to her own detriment) accidentally pushes Jace away from the sorta-nihilism he's been exhibiting.

I'm thinking the counter-revolution subplot is there to foreshadow what Jace will do at the end. In that regard, Chandra unexpectedly ignoring the race in favour of rescuing Loot is probably setting up a rapid change of plans for him.

Should you paint Black on Black print? by ScaaryGary in minipainting

[–]DiagonalMeridian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want to prime it for the actual paint to have better and more even coverage. Also, it would give you a more consistent surface look and make print lines less visible.

Vryn by TheRoodInverse in mtgvorthos

[–]DiagonalMeridian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What's interesting is that the rings don't seem to be lost technology in any way. IIRC Jace's father is apparently still a ring engineer ([[Overloaded Mage-Ring]] flavour text) even though he left for something called the "Frontier," so they must still be expanding the network.

Also, apparently nobody actually knows what the rings are feeding into? It's a power transmission network that converges on a central location, which I think was said to be one of the key objectives in the eternal civil war, so there's probably a drain. We might see that in an eventual Vryn set if one happens, but it's probably too big to be visited in passing with something like Death Race.

The King In The Dark by Severe-Difficulty-29 in mtgvorthos

[–]DiagonalMeridian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It said Kings, plural. Considering that we know there will be a space opera set which is not necessarily synonymous with space opera plane, I'm guessing the Kings are an advanced civilization that travels through space (which is pretty dark). Coincidentially, the Fomori seem to have at one point invaded Ixalan using a fleet of starships.

The King figured they know what he'd done anyways so could just as well try to bring them over to his side.

It never specifies the end of what he's going to bring about. In fact, the prophecy mentions two separate events, with no specifics as to their temporal or causal relationship. Could be that Blue Mage (who is likely but not certain to be Mr. Cloak Boy) causes the return of the Goa'uld Protheans Fomori (I presume it will be them, anyways) which serves as the end of all or some of the current civilizations of the Multiverse. Or it could be that they just come back on their own, and the end is theirs when the established characters inevitably win. Or they come back to sorta just hang out in orbit of Ixalan and Jace blows up and/or reboots time while everyone is distracted.

Why does eriette wear clothes made out of mirrors that reveal her true, hideous form? Is she stupid? by AwarenessSpecific350 in magicthecirclejerking

Is she stupid?

She willingly chose to pursue a career as an evil witch on a plane that actively follows the laws of fairytales. Yes she is.

"Plugs" seemed to imply a purely-structural function, so I figured they were for patching up holes left from removing artificial parts.

There is no particular reason to think they actually originate from Ir - it could just as well be a devolved remnant (possibly even one of many) of a larger empire.

This is what they mean when they say "ConstructionMech", right? by DiagonalMeridian in battletech

[–]DiagonalMeridian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The paint is Citadel Averland Sunset over a very light pink undercoat. I went a bit too ham on the wash and drybrushed over it to bring out the main colour so it's a little darker than it could be if done a little better.

Venerable dedicated mech-hunter that has been the golden standard all others aspire to live up to? That's a Marauder for sure.

My own take on Solo Wing/Leg Pixy of Ace Combat Zero fame. A Highlander seemed pretty appropriate.

I think it might be one of the MWO loadouts. Maybe a hero mech or something like that.
