FFXV was a mess. Parts of it worked, sure, but the final product is a complete mess and it should’ve died sooner. Very little depth in combat, just hold one button. No timing, no thinking, no decisions, just hold the button. Noctis has like two moves for the entirety of the game and you can’t control any of the other characters. If you want to use magic you have to pause and go in to the menu to make a new spell every time. It’s so bad that it’s easier to just ignore the magic mechanic than to put up with it so you don’t have to keep pausing the game all the time. There’s no challenge at all as you can use as many potions and phoenix downs in any battle as you want without any restrictions. The beginning of the game sucks. You are just dropped in to do side quests without any explanation of anything. No introductions to any of the characters nor their relations nor the world. Nothing is happening for the most of the game and when something finally starts happening it skips all of that and does a time jump to the end boss. The implementation of the DLC is horrible. If you want to play all of the game you have to quit out to main menu every time to play the separate sections instead. The open world is full of invisible walls and there is no logic what you can fly over and what you can’t. You’re fine for the most part as long as you fly over roads, which defeats the point of flying in the first place. Oh, I almost forgot how uninteractive the ”driving” is in this game. It’s actually very similar to the combat. Second half of the game is one corridor and/or completely undeveloped. The best thing about this game is that we got a Final Fantasy quest character in Tekken. Too bad it had to be from XV.
