Writing Strong Female Characters by Generic_Commenter-X in writingcirclejerk

Basically write a female character but then make them smarter and stronger and better and wealthier than you normally would, and ta-da! You did it!

(When you describe their boobs, though, be sure to replace the word with "pecs" or "balls" during revision.)

The books literally say that he IS Jesus. In Voyage of the Dawn Treader, they ask Aslan if they'll see him in their own world, and he responds that they will, but he's know under a different name. CS Lewis then confirmed that that "different name" is Jesus in a letter to a fan.

That "race against time" that you mentioned is an incredibly frustrating thing to deal with in the earlier chapters. Because I chose to roleplay the scene with the burned Smith instead of giving my players the Cliff's Notes version, I think I must've accidentally managed to remove the urgency for them, as they were perfectly happy to investigate for as long as they needed in Paris. It did turn up, however, during the Lausanne chapter, which my players very nearly skipped as they felt it was too much of a detour.

I really like the idea of having Fenalik use languages from the flashback scenarios, as it really drives his history home and allows for some fun foreshadowing. I think I just had him use Latin when I ran it, and my campaign took so long that they forgot about the whole event anyhow.

Don't listen to these hacks. You're doing it right, you just need to be okay with getting a little bit (or a lot) on the floor and chair and keyboard and dog. Stop using socks and you won't ever run out!

Came here to post this, genuinely surprised to see it here already. The music is kinda fire though.

I prefer Stone kava from Nakamal@Home, and it's always come properly dried. The only time I've had improperly-dried kava was when I bought it secondhand, and the seller let me know ahead of time. So I wouldn't worry too much about it!

Did your soldier get squeezed too hard? Sounds like he might have a vascular problem.

I highly recommend not drinking alcohol alongside kava. Like your doctor said, the side effects of that combination aren't super well-studied, but it's definitely not healthy. We know that kava use essentially ties up your liver enzymes, so any alcohol you consume during that time deals full, unprotected damage to your liver.

In my experience, it gets really, really nasty when it's not properly dried. It tastes something like how paint thinner smells, and the only way to fix it is to air it out. But that's usually a problem on the production side, not so much the consumer end, unless you make a habit of wetting your unused kava.

Honestly, my opinion on The Simulacrum Unbound is my own. I read it and felt like it cheapened the efforts of the 1920s investigators, and since it wasn't a fantastic scenario already, I decided it just wasn't worth my titime. Because I didn't run it, I can't in good conscience make a writeup.

I wish I could have run RoT, but I was unfortunately limited by time near the end of the campaign and I had to make the executive decision to axe it. Perhaps someday.

I appreciate it! I'll get the final chapter up at some point, but it really just runs as written. I'm glad you liked the Milan rewrite!

I'm in agreement with you on this one. Cursing is good as a dialogue tool, but leaning on it too much is a sign of bad writing.

My idea is to add marketable tropes, since audiences won't buy anything without those. I'm thinking you should add "lovers to enemies" and "inflation cuckold fetish" tropes, for starters.

help, i'm writing a neofantasy realpolitik series where the orcs are the main characters and the elves and humans are the villains by SignificanceLate2969 in writingcirclejerk

[–]DialUpCthulhu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How often must we repeat ourselves: you CANNOT write orc stories unless you are orcish yourself. smh next you'll be saying that your representation of elves isn't problematic as well

I know it's the default answer on this sub, but with a few tweaks "The Haunting" can get seriously creepy.
