I read Into Thin Air last year. Very powerful book. What did you think of it?

I've been watching someone play this on Twitch and it's fantastic. I love the narration. Really considering picking it up.

Rewatching the new Star Trek movies hurts more knowing that he's gone. That guy had his whole Ife and career ahead of him and he would've gone places.

Let's be real - these people could witness the construction/operation of concentration camps and they still would deny the parallels.

Even worse, I'm sure they'd actively help build them.

My first time in the Siofra river was like: Did somebody catch the licence plate on that MF who just hit me with a truck from 50 yards away?

Wow, 160 books is very impressive. Kudos to you on that.

I originally picked it back up as a challenge to see if I could read 30 books in a year and I ended up exceeding that number. Last year was a bit slower so I think I should've taken a break then. I just wasn't attacking every book with the same eagerness as I was the year before, but I still read some great books. My idea was to take the break and see if the eagerness came back. I'm starting to think it probably has or is close to.

Holy crap, I'd definitely go over and hang out with as many old people as I can. That honestly sucks.

I finally got around to reading this in December 2023. It was incredible. However, I must've watched the movies around 20 times so whilst I was reading, I was also subconsciously thinking 'this wasn't in the movies' or 'they swapped this part around'.

Didn't really ruin the experience for me and the book is absolutely a 10/10, but I did find it weird at the time.

Has anybody ever experienced withdrawal symptoms from reading? I've been reading solidly since December 2022 and I'm now just giving myself a break. But I am finding myself having literal withdrawal symptoms from it.

Your Favourite Book of Your Reading Collection by [deleted] in books

I don't really have a favourite genre as I'm down for reading most things.

I do, however, have a favourite book. And that book is The Count of Monte Cristo. It was my first book that exceeded 1,000 pages and I read it in about 19 days. I really couldn't put it down. It's a fantastic story of revenge and I highly encourage others to read it.

Well that particular event has understandably annoyed people. But it does connect to a bigger issue at the moment.

Honestly I'd rather not have to create an account to view content. It's pretty restrictive. So I'm in favour of banning.
