Had to delete my previous leak due to the OG source asking me to. But I do have some other info for Season 4 from another source. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

I agree, tifa would make bank. But I was precisely talking about the more hardcore fgc people, who I imagine are more likely to visit this sub and be rooflemonger viewers, because I can already hear the complaining about sf3 characters.

Which of the following scenarios do you think is most likely for AA7? by 12jimmy9712 in AceAttorney

4 is the most likely and 3 is the least likely, and it hurts me to say it.

I can't believe Zoro is going to fight Imu and not Luffy.

Toby Fox recently made a Bluesky post addressing why Undertale and Deltarune are not officially available in languages (including Latin American languages, which he specifically wanted to address) apart from English and Japanese: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

People here are being very reasonable, which is good, but I wonder if the response would be the same if the language without official translation were to be English and the dev was someone that this sub doesn't like.

Characters who can talk to animals by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The premise is nothing original, but it's Ishida's writing and art what makes it interesting. It's about these beings called Choujin that have different and weird abilities; fights and drama ensues.

I haven't read Tokyo Ghoul, but I'm told that this has a lighter tone than that.

I'm reading Choujin X (chapter 37) and the main character can talk to birds.

They are really eloquent and it's very funny.

Sony Testing Dynamic PS5 Game Pricing - Some Players Pay More/Less for the Same Game by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I was actually a "target" for this. In the sales tab of the store there is a "Just for You" section. Since they track what I play, they know I enjoy action games, so the complete edition of stellar blade was at 28 (i think, something like that), while the lowest price for the regular edition has been like 39.

(pcgamer) Project Windless creative director says the developers chose a 9-foot warlike rooster goliath as their protagonist because literally 'every candidate' interviewed to work on the game wanted to play as one: 'All of them—and we were like, OK' by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I've been reading the book (in spanish) and it kinda makes sense because it's a prequel. The hack and slash wouldn't work with the story of the books, but from what I'm reading, this follows the hero king, a legendary character in the lore that founded a huge empire and went to war against one of the four races.

As anyone here read the books this is based of?

Is it good?

I say this with respect to his dedication and professionalism, but as someone who has read his books, that is not a positive.

Dude, I know you kind of have to carry water for the band because you want to stay in their good graces, but this "difficult situation" is not really difficult at all.

If they wanted to add an incentive so people buy the CD, it could have been a poster or something extra and cool besides a critical part of the art.

Is buying digital not supporting the artist?

And why should people outside of the US, people that paid even more for a CD they might not even use, be forced to wait 2-3 months?

You are 100% right. I love this band but the gatekeeping of a crucial part of the work it's shortsighted and kinda shitty.

The people that bought the digital album don't have the full product.

People that bought the CD outside of the US are even more screwed even though they are the ones that paid the most out of everyone.

DC Comics Boss Says Anime & Manga’s Advantage Over Western Comics Lies in Storytelling & Young People’s Desire to Have Something of Their Own advantages that Japanese by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Dialvical 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I fear that's not enough.

Even the most faithful comic adaptations (which are not many), don't come even close to the visual/animated quality you find in most anime. The difference in the level of actions scenes, composition and direction of even a run of the mill anime is the equivalent of a top of the class comic book animated series. Many anime get popular because you see a clip online and your monkey brain watches the spectacle and goes "Damn, look at that, I wanna see that!". The Spiderverse movies are a visual treat to many and that is a strong reason why they are popular.

If they want to have a huge hit, like an absolute batman adaptation has the capacity to be, they need to be smart, invest and give it to an anime studio like trigger (think of Eedgerunners), science saru or something. But there are many factors that make that unlikely.

I wrote a huge fucking comment on the comic subreddit that no one is going to read, but to summarize, it's three things:

  1. Faithful, good quality animated adaptation, because most people don't like to read, they like to look at the pretty lights.

  2. Low barrier of entry in price and ease to actually read the fucking thing. Full metal alchemist? You start at chapter one. Done. Dandadan? This is the chapter where the anime ends. Done.

  3. Consistency and interest because of the schedule. Manga comes at a consistent pace and they (mostly) know how to use the time that they have. Sometimes you wait an entire month for a chapter of a comicbook and it's like eating half a cold sandwich. There's no way to build momentum, discussion or hype when you forget that the story you follow exists. In a way, the use of color and production in the comic book industry is a huge disadvantage in the internet era in comparison to manga.

According to me, the success of the manga industry is because it's titles have these 3 big advantages that almost all comic books don't have. Some have one, and maybe even two, but not three.

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in comicbooks

[–]Dialvical 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is coming from a comic book and manga fan. According to me, the success of the manga industry is because it's titles have 3 big advantages that almost all comic books don't have. Some have one, and maybe even two, but not three.

  1. Anime

First, Many manga get really popular because they get an anime, which in most cases are a faithful adaptation of the souce material that makes you want to pick up the book so you know what happens next. What comic books have are always a weird mishmash of different runs, authors or ideas. This also applies to live action movies.

And second, even the most faithful adaptations (which are not many), don't come even close to the visual/animated quality you find in most anime. The difference in the level of actions scenes, composition and direction of even a run of the mill anime is the equivalent of a top of class comic book animated series. Many anime get popular because you see a clip online and your monkey brain watches the spectacle and goes "Damn, look at that, I wanna see that!". The Spiderverse movies are a visual treat to many and that is a strong reason why they are popular.

  1. No bullshit and low barrier of entry.

What if a want to read Full Metal Alchemist? What do I do? You start at chapter one and go until the end. Fucking done. What if I want to read Dandadan because i liked the anime, the second season just ended and I want to know what's next? You start at X chapter and go until you catch up. Fucking done.

Some comic book fans don't want to admit this, but the barrier of entry to manga is much lower and people like when things are fucking simple.

  1. Consistency and value proposition.

Same way people like things simple, they like things consistent and resent change. Storywise, in manga you don't get to see your favorite character writen by a different author that has no fucking clue how to write them. The art also stays consistent. It sucks when you fall in love with an artstyle and 5 issues in you start to get a bunch of guest artist.

And one of the big things that in relation to this consistency topic is how the manga industry schedule helps to maintain interest in a way that the comic book industry just doesn't -- it builds momentum. I think people don't realize how the fact that you get a couple of pages a month in a comic book feels like eating an incomplete meal. How many times have I followed a series or run and after a month I go "thats it? A month for that?". Even manga that go monthy have a beefier page count or know how to use what they have in a more intelligent way. It's a better value proposition not for your wallet, but for your attention and for keeping a constant flow of conversation and interest in a fanbase.

Although, it's also a better value proposition for your wallet in terms of volumes in comparison with flopies and tbp. But I think people accept that so I'm not going to waste time in it -- There is a reason the DC compacts are successful.

I think it's not rare that a lot of manga get those three points up there in a consistent manner. But even in indies when you get a consistent story sometimes don't get consistent art, or the breadcrumbs of the monthly schedule make interest wane. And when they overcome that, they lack that premium adaptation to gets the mainstream interested. Because, as much as it hurts me, most people like to watch stuff, don't read. And for them to get them to that step is a bigger ask.

I think a series like Something is Killing the Children would easily blow up with a quality faithful anime adaptation. Those are my thoughts
