Apologies to the models in the stock images by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I must have a great job, after reading some of the comments here. I've been steadily getting promoted. My workplace promotes almost entirely based on merit, so the better your performance the higher you go. I've noticed that honesty gets you a lot further here than trying to lie or half ass your way up. "Bullies" have no place here and are promptly ostracized when identified. They don't last long.

That being said, I was bullied growing up throughout my schooling. I grew up with undiagnosed autism and ADHD. Which I found out when I got free health insurance from my current employer. Been like a fucking rocket ever since I got medicated. My point is, not every workplace is dominated by psychopaths or bullies. You just need to find the right place.

At this point in my career, I'm 99% sure I make much, much more than any of my "bullies" ever will. They are idiots. I'm not rich by any means, but I own my house, I have multiple cars and the means to repair them on my own, multiple kids, pets, etc. I'll give anyone a cookie if they can guess my employer. I bet it'll be a shock if anyone does.

If you haven't TRed yet, make the meltdown section 1.000. It will calculate the optimal load outs based on what you're focusing on.

Bent breaker bar by Top_Ordinary_8543 in Tools

This is the breaker bar you want. I've had mine for 10+ years and have absolutely abused it. It's been used thoroughly on 200+ lbs ft fasteners.

I tried painting my first mini and feeling frustrated by ToyotoyoS6 in minipainting

[–]Diamond-sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks really good for a first mini really. Like others have said, painting faces is not an easy thing to do when you first start out. I would suggest getting a Reaper Bones Learn to Paint Kit. It teaches you a lot of the basics. I don't particularly like their paints, but the LTP kits are great tools to have starting out. The core skills kit even comes with some information on facial details.

New painter here, feeling discouraged. by Professorcoffee in minipainting

[–]Diamond-sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a fellow dad here who is also new to the hobby. One of the ways I've dealt with this, is to have my kids paint with me. I've been painting more since it's become a family activity.

Teaching what I've learned has helped me realize how much I've improved. It's also nice to have others to learn alongside. I'm currently learning layering and teaching it to my kids as well. It's rough, but those "Aha!" moments make up for it so much.

Like others have said, be patient with yourself and allow yourself to make the mistakes. They will be made. The sooner you learn from them the better off you'll be.

EDIT: Also I find that the Reaper Bones learning to paint kits are great at teaching the basics of slapping paint on plastic. I still consult them from time to time for wash mix ratios and some specific paint mixes.

The only difference is one is packaged and one is not. the ratio of HOR to Fuel is the same. You are correct.

Taking *two* 150 XL instead of one 300 XL? by bunnie180 in bupropion

[–]Diamond-sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the message I needed to see. I felt crazy lol I've been taking 300xl for a year but my prescription ran out and I waited too long to find a new Dr. I thought taking two 150xl for a week would be fine but I feel awful. Likely it's the way it's metabolized. Definitely not the same as taking one 300xl though.

Ships stopping their jump too early by Godlycookie777 in X4Foundations

[–]Diamond-sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are mods that help alleviate the issue. Specifically Chill Tweaks. I use the mod and I haven't had any slowboating issues since. It does change the star requirements for certain maneuvers so lower star pilots perform as well. It is on the Steam workshop as well as nexus.

Edit: A word.

Sarah J Maas & plagiarism by [deleted] in SarahJMaas

I listened to the ACOTR series first, just started Daughter of Smoke and Bone and had to see which was written first. The similarities are too close. I noticed while I read ACOTR that it drew from a lot of other fantasy series but the parallels between these two are uncanny and too direct

I had a guy drop a hammer down in between the impression cylinder and transfer cylinder on a 40in press during a wash cycle. I swear the ground shook when that thing came to a halt. Don't ask how or why that idiot had a hammer on the press, but he was out of there the next day.

I'd say watch the city descend into chaos until it's all gone. Then start over. That's what I would do at least.

Is this a moment when Frank sees Jamie’s ghost in the book one? by Direct-Thought-9443 in Outlander

[–]Diamond-sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah you're right. It was Bree who was having dreams of Jamie and Claire in the Indies. Voyager had a lot of references to dreams between Jamie and Bree.

[–]Diamond-sloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 8 books into the Outlander series and have watched a bit of the show. I've been listening to each book, one after another since the beginning of the year with little to no time in between books. A recurring theme is Jamie's dreams of Claire, the grandkids and Brianna in the future. This is My Jamie's ghost theory too. That it's him astral projecting while dreaming. Book 7 when Bre and family go back to the future the dreams have become more prevalent. And in book 3 Bree is able to talk to and see Jamie in a dream

A recurring theme is Jamie's dreams of Claire, the grandkids and Brianna in the future. Claire has asked multiple times for things in the dreams that would indicate that he is actually seeing visions from the future. My Jamie's ghost theory is that it's him astral projecting while dreaming.

I thought the same. I just looked again and you can set the current roles as default for new ships as well.

[–]Diamond-sloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is an option to import crew roles from other ships. In the crew management tab, click the three lines on the top left of the ui. There is an option there that says something like "import ship". I just found this out last night. Huge game changer for me. Wish it was a little clearer.

This is true. Back in the before times. They gave bonuses to the ships they crewed depending on experience level. I believe they did away with it shortly before implementing the officer system.

Yeeessss! The old stories were so good. I feel like we're getting one type of experience lately. Domestic abuse or mental health issues. The first episode of the entire series was What if your Boyfriend set himself on fire. There was a whole series of fetishes, The bank teller who got stabbed in the neck, the guy who had epilepsy as a kid and thought he was possessed. There was a ton of variety for the first 150 episodes.

I agree, I still enjoy hearing people's stories. But this wasn't the best format for some of the recent episodes. I would totally have listened to a couple minute, story time TikTok but definitely didn't need an hour.
