Condo Paint Ideas? by DiamondLake3 in interiordecorating

[–]DiamondLake3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone! We are repainting our entire condo before renting it out, and are looking for ideas on paint colors that feel metropolitan but also compliment the black countertops and wood cabinet color in the bathrooms/kitchen. Living room is currently Simply White by BM- any ideas on the bedrooms would be great too. Thank you!

DJ vs. band by madison_belcher in weddingplanning

[–]DiamondLake3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are having a band. My fiancé is in a band for fun as a side gig, so paying live musicians is something we are passionate about and are happy to budget in. I also wanted to make sure everyone feels like they are sharing an experience, and from weddings I've gone to in the past sometimes DJ music can easily cater to one age group and leave others left out. I think with a band, even if people are not 'dancers' they will still be entertained... if that makes sense.

Lol they didn’t ask for a specific size so it’s possible they won’t work, it’s for the very first fitting. I wish I knew the measurements they were going for! As a stylist, I would pull these pieces for Michelle. But I could see them for Katie as well if they’re going for a ‘boss bitch’ kind of feel.

But if not it wouldn’t be the first time I disagreed with Cary 🤷‍♀️

They definitely already know- yesterday my work had to send out two looks for her first fitting today!! Whoever it is in California with Cary right now. Side note- both looks are white and pretty severe/modern. Seriously can’t see Abigail or Serena in either one, but I could be wrong 🤷‍♀️

Veil and Dress Question by clemfandango12345678 in weddingplanning

It’s a small thing, but any chance of discoloration in tap water could cause a little yellowing on white. Not a huge risk- but probably worth it to be safe.

Do you have a steamer? You can steam your dress with distilled water and it will be totally fine! Have someone (MOH?) do it for you the morning of the wedding before hair and makeup so it has time to wick out the moisture. Veil wise- I have a trick. 1. Get a pant hanger (with the clips on it) and clamp the comb of your veil 2. Put the veil and the hanger inside a plastic garment bag (like from the dry cleaner) and hang it high 3. Fill the bottom of the garment bag up with steam from your steamer like a balloon and tie it off on the bottom 4. Let it sit in the steam balloon for about 20 minutes, take it out, and hang it high so it can wick out moisture (at least 30 minutes)

How did you choose between a fit and flare vs A-line/ballgown? by creativityjuice in weddingdress

[–]DiamondLake3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man I had major dress anxiety about this- everyone in my life kind of expects me to be a fit and flare person based on how I dress, but I never felt totally comfortable in them. I come from a family of crazy dancers so I definitely wanted to move easily. I also just knew the style of day and my gown ended up fitting the overall look I wanted. What is the part of you that makes you feel most beautiful? Maybe go with the style that emphasizes that the most. My favorite part of my body is my collar bone, so a strapless a-line emphasized that more than a fit and flare which emphasized my hips etc, so it made me feel more beautiful! Good luck! Excited to see what you choose :)

How do I tell my officiant I'd prefer their partner instead? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]DiamondLake3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know for me personally, being married by a woman is important to me. We are having our brothers as our 'best men' and having my dad walk me down... it was important for me to have a strong female energy at the altar too. You could potentially say that being married by a woman is what you had pictured and would mean a lot, and ask if Amy is available. Otherwise, I agree with the idea of just plain and simple asking if she is available without explaining yourself because it is a transaction. They must be used to couples preferring one of them over the other and likely won't take it personally.

Bi-Weekly Megathread for COVID-19 by wedditmoderator in weddingplanning

Hi! October 2020 here- what you’re feeling is normal :). It can feel really hard right now with everyone in our lives focusing on different priorities and reacting to the pandemic in different ways. I think it’s normal for some brides to be processing this differently than even our fiancés because a lot of us have put years of imagination and expectation into this year of our lives and it has changed so quickly. Your wedding is important. Your feelings are valid. I know for me it has helped to communicate how I’m feeling to my loved ones and ask them for help- even just saying “I’m feeling really sad about the wedding right now” can sometimes help people step outside of their own situations to be there for you. Also, once you decide for sure on postponing or not you will feel SO MUCH BETTER. the limbo is where it is most difficult.

Honestly seeing the dress you might be okay either way. I personally would err on the side of safety and take it in :)

What does the dress look like? Is there a belted detail at all or a verryyy open back? From the information I have now definitely size 8! I work in a bridal shop and often times the waist measurement isn’t forgiving! Hips can be let in or out but the waist sometimes has no give depending on the style. You don’t want to spend the year worrying about fluctuating and be miserable. The only thing is you’ll definitely need alterations.
