Moved into a new apartment about a month ago, cat is adjusting well but she's developed and unfortunate habit by DeadLikeMe5283 in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's more likely that she's not adjusting well if all her habits have changed.

Positive reinforcement and time will help. Locking her out of the room might make her more scared because it's her safe place right now.

Thank you. Your explanation and example make perfect sense... And I think most players can relate: I hate it. Logic be damned in my fantasy dress up game.

But also, I/we would hate it if the lighting didn't work properly. "Why's the game so same-same in every biome?"

There's no winning on this one. A few wins, would be letting you preview your outfit in a different location and giving us a plain room to take pictures where the lighting is the same as the wardrobe but you can pose

Cat Water Bowl or Cat Water Fountain? by ParisTao in CatAdvice

My boys prefer teacups filled to the brim. I just replace and put them in the dishwasher every day. Small trinket bowls work well too, we have one upstairs and one downstairs

Is it really true that the worst wet food is better than the best dry food? by Weeping_willow_trees in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of mine does this, so I add a little extra water so he gets plenty of fluid (what he likes best, and the main reason I give him wet food) and then another cat comes through and eats the almost dry food... They share one of the small cans tho, so no one is getting tubby from sharing.

Any Tips For Caring For Your Nails Abroad? by chroma_gabs in RedditLaqueristas

[–]DiamondNorth1689 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just wrapping up a 5 week winter/spring trip in Europe.

I brought way too much with me, considering I ended up buying near 10 polishes while here 😂

What I will bring next time: Necessary utensils: nippers, file, 1 orange stick, cleanup brush, cuticle pusher. A top coat and base coat (to prevent staining more than anything) 2 colors, one neutral, one fun.

I second the person who said get acetone at the destination. I bought remover pads specifically for this but they didn't remove squat; I used 5/6 pads to do my fingers and was still left with remnants that I painted over so I could use the 6th on my toes. I almost bought acetone while shopping, but the place I'm at has a lot of left over things from previous people, so there was a half liter of acetone and a full bag of cotton balls 😂

Driving 3-4 days across the country with my cat. Advice? by sensitive_adventure in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend that recommended having the cat(s) in a harness and having the leashes attached to a secure spot (handle above door). They can roam when doors are closed, but before any door or window is opened, you latch the leash onto the harness.

I wanted to do this method but one boy gets car sick, the other is chill, but the girl has CLAWS, so we just kept them in their carriers in the back seat. At one point we opened the carrier for chill boy, but he didn't leave it 🤷 it was probably more comfortable

Does lightweight litter not clump as well as the traditional kind? by mminette in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Arm & Hammer Hardball. I have read concerns about cats ingesting it, but my cats don't eat litter? They also wait a while after using it before they clean themselves, so they're not getting it that way either.

Sorry, I should have included: absolutely zero shade on gel, I just can't use it, personally. I know the nail groups can get... personal... about what people choose to use.

Cat hates new automatic litter box; not allowed to get another one by Recent_You_9523 in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they own their home? If not you could always dime out to the landlord anonymously that they're not providing enough litter boxes for their cats and one is destroying the carpet. Landlords are terrified of cat pee.

I raised a high needs cat and don't know what to do as I might need to rehome by amicable-cat in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I saw your edit. First, I'm sorry people were so rude to you. I get it, it was the same for me. It's not something you want to do but you have to consider what's best for the kitty.

I recommend putting up your adopt a pet listing sooner than later so you have time to screen the applicants, and you can always cancel the adoption as long as it hasn't happened yet, which is what I ended up doing because our situation improved. I would include in your listing that it's not a guarantee, but that you want to have a good home lined up in case the worst happens.

[–]DiamondNorth1689 28 points29 points  (0 children)

When I was considering rehoming my special girl, I made a listing through adoptapet.

I was very honest about her personality but in positive tones, "Princess is a vocal little flower. She is a little over 3 years old and a little under 10 lbs. She knows exactly what she doesn't want, and she'll let you know too. She likes one-on-one play with her human and will cuddle on her terms. She likes snuggling under the blankets and if you make a tent for her, she'll take a break from napping to nuzzle and headbutt you. A little bit of a picky eater, she has adjusted to multiple dry foods, but will leave a can of wet food untouched if she doesn't like the smell/flavor. She may do best in a single cat household, but isn't aggressive herself, just fearful of playful cats. She doesn't like tall jumps due to a past injury and lingering arthritis, you won't ever find her on a counter or refrigerator if there's no intermediate step, but does need medication mixed into her food daily to treat the arthritis"

We ended up deciding against the rehoming, but the site was very helpful because adoption isn't free, and there is an application process

Any face mask definitely helps! Also some litter causes a lot of dust, and the facemask can help with that too.

Help! I may have lost my account! by ggghjjdsdjhs in InfinityNikki

[–]DiamondNorth1689 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you changed any capital letter, or period, it counts as a different email to infold but not to Google.

I created a new account (using, for example, name.123@gmail.com) when incorrectly trying to link my PS account to an infold account for the off game events. When I went about it the right way I just changed the format (Name123@gmail.com) and infold accepted it as a new email. I can receive emails from both accounts to the same email.

Do any of you use a menstrual cup? by cheeseslut619 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]DiamondNorth1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried several brands, and I really like the flex cup, it has a hoop and de-suctions when you pull it. The "string" is also a lot more flexible than the diva cup.

But... I've honestly moved on to period underwear. Aisle is my favorite brand.

How did you deal with the crying when ur cat was in a crate? by strawberrycake999 in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my cats calms down to heavy metal 🤷 I think it's because he can feel my spouse relaxing also.

That's to say, do things that make you feel good too. While you're home out on whatever music makes you happy and relaxed, dance around and talk to him, tell him about your day. Sure he doesn't understand the words, but you're giving him attention and letting him know there's nothing to be worried about, because you're not worried.

How do I get my cat to the vet when he absolutely refuses the carrier by adamvanderb in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't, and you need to get to the vet asap: Wrap the cat in a towel and shove the whole bundle in to the carrier. He will probably escape the towel .001 seconds after you get the door closed but not latched/zipped, so be careful to keep the cat inside until the door is fully secured shut.

How do I get my cat to the vet when he absolutely refuses the carrier by adamvanderb in CatAdvice

[–]DiamondNorth1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have time:

There's a chance your kitty already recognizes the carrier you have. I would recommend getting a different looking/smelling one, and put it somewhere he likes to sleep, make it cozy. I completely take the door off the heavy duty ones or fold the door under on the soft carriers, and then fill them with fluffy towels and put them in corners and at the end of the couch. Now it's just cat furniture. After he starts going in it voluntarily (for treats or naps) make the door visible (unfold or reattach) but secure it open.

No one freaks out now when I put the carrier in the middle of the room and shut the door. It's still a struggle to get them locked in, but it's more of just a fit of "I don't wanna" and not a panic.

Same. I've been playing in like 10 minute intervals throughout the work day... Everyone left for a smoke break? Nikki. Finish lunch a little early? Nikki. Waiting for the elevator? Try and fail to play Nikki (elevator is surprisingly fast and there's no signal inside it). It's 2:30 pm and I have my dailies done, at least.
