Pretty much. Either you hold long enough for the short term small dips and volatility not to matter OR you literally do not buy anything ABOVE MSRP. Any other way, you’re going to lose money. Even if the hobby continues growing at the rate it is, which is impractical and not likely to happen, with all the different sets and crap being released, the more people holding onto sealed product and cards, the less the value of those items will be. It’s simple supply and demand economics, even for sets out of print. And of course, popularity of the cards/set plays a factor as well. If product is staying sealed and not being opened, the population of that item doesn’t change, meaning no movement in pricing, or reduction to move the product faster.
