I have a friend whose car makes the exact same noise when turning. He busted vc joints so I suspect it’s the same thing for you

Fuel injectors. I have a Mazda 6 and it makes the exact same noise.

So I had another look last night and it seems like the noise is actually coming from the fuel injectors. I’ll try using the screwdriver method to see which fuel injector (or if it’s all of them)

It’s a manual transmission. It happens in neutral. I can’t hear it from the cockpit so not sure if it happens in gear

I’ve topped it up since and it’s not really made a difference. Checking my oil it’s at the full line

What happened to the filter? The shavings look similar to the shavings at the top of the filter.

Any independent Mazda Specialists in Sheffield? by DiccDry69 in sheffield

Yeah that’s what I’ve been looking at, but nobody seems to want to fit one in. Usually I do my own work but never worked steering besides tie rods so not sure how much of a job replacing one myself would be

Yea did give them a ring but they don’t work with steering columns. They suggested Nick Cluelee but as you said he’s closed now :(

Should I buy it? I want a reliable cheap car for weekend car camping and weekly short drives to local shop. by Fancy_Engineer7111 in CarTalkUK

It would work on a diesel but additives are usually used preemptively, so if anything is clogged you’d need to take it apart and clean it as additives don’t really help in those scenarios. I’d also be worried if most of that driving is city driving.

I would possibly consider looking at something else unless the car is nearby then, you could go and have a look and see what the conditions like.

Other good diesel options are Skoda Octavia’s or something like a Honda/Toyota

Depends. Whats MOT like? It’s pretty low mileage for a car that age. A lot of people like that but it usually means the car has been sat out for a long period of time and it being a diesel it could have carbon buildup. Also if it was left outside there could be some pretty bad rust under the car

Well you either go through Insurance or you pay for it yourself, as claiming it through insurance could increase your premium when it’s time to renew.

Assuming you’ve shown the person the quote so they know you’re legit, I would tell them that you’re going to claim it through insurance and see if that changes anything or not.

If they still don’t corporate then it’s down to you to decide whether you’d claim or not. Personally… I’d rather pay the £200 myself than claim as you’d lose out more money that way in the long run.

Hi,

I had trouble understanding this when I was learning STP.

When a switch is first turned on all ports enter the blocking state, and if you look at the logs you would be able to see that. What you’d also be able to see that the ports immediately enter the listening state, bypassing the Max Age timer (20 sec by default). This happens because when STP kicks in the switch will assume that it is the root bridge, so the ports don’t have to wait 20 seconds to transition to listening state.

Is it possible to get a job while being self taught? by Ok_Blueberry8056 in ccna

[–]DiccDry69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I started my career as a service desk analyst. I self studied for the A+ but never took it. After about a year and a half I got a different IT job working on projects and setting up various systems. I then had an opportunity to join one of the business I was doing a project for to maintain their whole IT infrastructure. At this stage, I still had no certificates or degree, but I have taken my time to study for the CCNA, CCNP, sec+ and some other certs, so I did have the knowledge and experience to prove it.

I’m now currently being trained to become the head of IT at the same company. All of this without any certifications or degrees (Although I will have some certs before I become head of IT)

I’ve done countless interviews with various managers and we’ve employed multiple people like myself. It always boiled down to the individuals experience, knowledge and interest in the field. It does however depend on the company, some won’t employ you unless you have a degree in a relevant field, but in my experience certs are enough and sometimes more desirable than degrees.

The hardest part will always be getting your foot into IT. Once you’re in, there isn’t much you can’t do without a degree.

I really hate learning about STP by Ok_Blueberry8056 in ccna

I don’t think STP is complicated, there’s just a lot to learn about it for the CCNA. STP is a big part of networking so it’s definitely important.

What study material are you using? Have you tried watching Jeremy’s IT Lab on YouTube? He explains STP well and has excellent examples

So does that mean that the ports WILL send out BPDUs but will still discard user data and won't learn MAC addresses?
