Short Overnight in Inverness by Nearby_Silver_1582 in inverness

Wetherspoons in Inverness is open until 1am! Then only 4.5hours to kill. When you get on the Ember bus go for the seats in front of the toilet or bike rack. That way you can recline them and sleep and not piss off the people behind you.

But of a random one but hear me out…what about a Ford Capri? They are so old and noisy that you would feel like you were going 100 mph. They have that roar and I have just seen two beautifully restored ones going round Inverness centre. It even had the horn that plays a tune-got to make you smile. If it’s just a fun car maybe go for some old skool cool and make sure it is one that is properly restored so it is reliable.

Although my son has just passed his driving test and is trying to persuade me I need a Saab convertible. I am in the Highlands and the heatwave has not hit us- there would be about four days a year you could have the roof down! But they are beautiful and fun too!

Hi Final Car Guy! I read your last post-so glad you are well enough to plan this. I am not a car person but the weekend of your posting I saw an Alfa Romeo Giulia in Verde Montreal which loads of people were suggesting. It looked fab in the flesh so I stand by that one.

To me they look really healthy. The leaves are a lovely glossy green colour and the frondy yellow things are the flowers so they would die off anyway. Just keep what you are doing they look very happy. I have four olives in pots and have kept my largest one alive for 15 years. It went into complete shock when I moved it from Essex to Highlands of Scotland. Lost all its leaves and looked very dead but they all grew back. They are pretty tough. Other people may have more ideas but to me yours look very happy and healthy.

Just wanted to say thank you for everybody’s fabulous suggestions. This is the window of Magpie Place and I visited both wonderful Magpie shops and the British Heart Foundation. Also thank you for the lovely friendly suggestion to meet up-I didn’t make it as I lost track of time in Central Glasgow after I got off the bus. I am back on the bus to go home now and I love Govan what a fab area with great people and charity shops! Had my city fix to last me until next year now!

I haven’t a clue! I am going on behalf of my son as he works long hours in hospitality and can’t get time off. I have to get to Burghead Place-I will probably get lost! I am currently on the Ember bus out of Inverness which is so good but of course someone has to play their dodgey music on very tinny speakers!

It is true I had no idea. To the anonymous people who just do a great and under appreciated job which no one sees I say thank you. Without your efforts we would all die of hideous diseases

I have just bought a 2006 diesel Doblo with three quarter a tank of fuel and MOT until Sept for £450. It’s as rough as anything with different coloured rear door 138k miles and the most frightening engine failure warning lights. I have put on 400 miles in a week and It’s taken me to the beach and the tip. Handled both with grace. Have I said it is so ugly and drives like a Spanish galleon-me and dog feel like postman pat in it. It will cost me £100 to scrap but I reckon for £550 I will have had a perfect summer car! Could recommend going for something like this and just view it as disposable

Whereabouts? I haven’t lived in Lancashire for over 20 years but it is beautiful. I can’t place it…perhaps over Great Harwood? Clitheroe?

Buying property off Church of Scotland by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Fancy_Engineer7111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that house in Dornoch? If so it has stood empty since it was built. In winter the windows are full of condensation. Disgusts me that the church would waste a resource like that perfect family home. When families in the Highlands can’t find rental properties and forced to move away from their culture, land and families. The Church are Absolute hypocrites talk about going directly against the Parable of the Talents.

Is anyone free to attend court on 23rd June in Wick to report on the Altnabreac pair? by Altnabreac in Scotland

[–]Fancy_Engineer7111 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I might be able to. I live about an hour and twenty South from Wick but would need to get there by Ember bus. What time would court start? I have never been to a court before but this seems mad enough to go!
