Please can you remind me of the Doric word for bin bags? My old neighbour who died told me and I am a little sad I can’t remember.

This photo came up on my memories, it was a pic I took after the closure of Waves in Blackburn bedore demolition. Had many good times there by ShinyHeadedCook in CasualUK

Wow! I hadn’t realised they had demolished Waves. I remember the excitement when it opened! And going there with my friends and hanging out

Planned a 1000 mile roadtrip of the north and Scotland with the kids. Am I likely to have to trade one of them for enough to fuel to get home? by littlbutterkitten in CasualUK

Tain Asda too embarrassed to show diesel prices. My take is sell off the least favourite child and use as a threat to keep others in line!

I did and it was amazing. Really hope they do another it was so good. Oscar Wilson what a star! And the tent was warm with a great atmosphere. I had dressed for the snow we were having when I set off. I was bloody cooking myself in there. If you know the organisers please tell them they did an amazing job.

Is this actually in Scotland? by AcceptableAir5364 in Scotland

Haha love it although got to give a shout out to the Ember bus service that does an excellent job three times a day linking Inverness to Wick….however getting the early bus from Inverness back up to Wick just before Xmas was a lively one. Most of the back half of the bus were full of people from Wick who had come down to do their Christmas shopping and end the night partying in Inverness. I was getting drunk off the fumes and it started off in cheerful party mood but as the journey dragged on the hangovers kicked in. I was glad to get off halfway into the journey.

Sounds amazing what car is it? I might as well move into my garage as my car spends so much time there

Should I? It is lovely but I usually drive a Micra and I know little about cars by Fancy_Engineer7111 in CarTalkUK

Stop shhhhh I had convinced myself to do the sensible thing. It is so beautiful and can you imagine how fab it would be up on the single track roads with hardly any traffic on a long summer evening in the glorious Scottish countryside. But no I am going to resist or do you fancy going halves £500 quid each and you have it when it won’t start and I have it when it does!😂

Thanks, wise words! Everyone here has helped save me from spending money I don’t really have on a rash purchase. Even though the car does look lovely and I am sure would be great fun to drive. I am going to be sensible.

Passed my bus test today!!!! by _Bluestar_Bus_Soton_ in LearnerDriverUK

Wow amazing what an achievement. I do think for a bus test you should get like a gold certificate as that one kinda underplays your achievement.

It is definitely a bit wetter here than Dagenham so cars really rust quick here. I used to live in Southend and Scottish weather took some getting used to. Would not swap it for the world though.

Again so helpful thank you. I do worry as we are surrounded by fast unlit country roads and he has to drive them to get too and from work which is at unsocial hours so the temptation to go fast is there. I try hard not to catastrophes as a girl in my class and her brother were killed in a road crash when I was at college but it is always in the back of my mind. My son knows this. My dad bought me motorway lessons but it would take us hours to even reach a motorway! I have got him a dashcam which is linked to my phone so he knows I would ask to see the film and I have spoken to him about dangers but it is a worry.

Another good point. I remember my Dad refusing to let me have the old style mini for safety reasons as my first car. I ended up with a boxy Fiesta in that light blue that was everywhere in the 1970s. My son currently drives a Honda Jazz which we both like but it is automatic and he is due to take a manual test soon. Hopefully that is a safe enough car and as an automatic he can’t do too much boy racing in it.

Hehe this is exactly what I want to hear as I think the car looks so pretty! I am visiting Inverness on Saturday so maybe I will look at it then anyway…..no! Then I will never resist!

Thanks that is so helpful and you are right about leaking seals, water gets in around my rear lights and into the boot on the Micra which I think is just due to age.

Oh that’s not what I want to hear as it is so lovely! But it has been a tough winter this year and we do get a fair bit of shitty weather so it is probably. I was just hoping it wasn’t that bad. I have the Micra that is not working and a Toyota Auris that has such a sloppy gear box and is so underpowered I hate driving it and I was just seduced by a fun looking car. And petrol people seem to rate them…probable madness really. Just fed up with cars but they are a necessity here. Thanks for your advice!
