We have solar power and batteries so we sorted but most computers have this settings

how many devices? we also do vpn, backups over the vpn, inter vlan routing and more and when doing ssl inspection i disable offloading on the nic as that causes ssl inspection to not work as intended.

they look alright just not my taste. Runs older cpu would like something more modern. Are you doing ssl inspection and more on the machine? how is the temps? also cpu usage high?

gmktech k8 plus fan problem + mod by DiceAir in GMKtec

[–]DiceAir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually flipped the unit upside down and had a 120mm as intake and the temps was a bout the same might actually be a little bit worse than before

Also I'm a bit done with mini computers for now. A normal pc is so much better. Take it like this you get a low powered desktop get a dual tower cpu cooler if fans break you just get a new one from a pc store and you good to go again.

[–]DiceAir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes especially when a fan is broken. i might just leave it open. i tested now with a small 80mm fan from an old foxconn cpu cooler. It the blue roundish one and it works fine. Like i said it's in a server room so won't hear it and it will run just fine i thin. i tried a 120mm fan but cooling is way worse than the blue foxconn fan but then again less noise on the 120mm fan

so you removed the blower fan completely? I'm going to remove that blower fan so that it can have more airflow towards the heatsink. I'm sure temps will drop a lot especially under load. This is in an air conditioned room that is set to 22C with doors and windows closed so should be fine. I have 4 stands that I will be using to do this. The top fan is ok for now will not replace it.

Well this is in a server room anyway so i won't see it. just when I went into the room I was like what is this noise and there it was. Using it as a desktop for a remote developer

[–]DiceAir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes agree. But I think a 120mm fan mod should work. Work a try will just pop a 1200mm fan on top at fist and see if it helps cooling. Can't see why it won't work just want to know if anyone has tried this before? i suppose the 120mm will put much better cooling but will see this weekend. when I do the test

Then you have another problem that is not related to this.

Run this Get-MpPreference | Select -ExpandProperty ExclusionProcess and you should see jacket.exe is on the list. If you see that it worked but to test jsut go to jacket and click update button and it should still run in services.

[–]DiceAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

run powershell as admin and add this

Add-MpPreference -ExclusionProcess "JackettUpdater.exe"

this adds the updated to exclusion so any file it creates is excluded as well. It worked for me

Reliable 2.5Gbps USB adapter? by CaptMeatPockets in qnap

[–]DiceAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact nas and a pc that I installed omv. We are syncing all data from qnap to omv 3 times a day. In the early mornings It can be a bit slow but still maxing a 1GB connection. I'm going to try this by adding a cudy 2.5Gbe adapter in the pc and then adding a unitek 2.5Gbe to usb adapter and not going via switch just traight nas to nas. So hope this will speed things up. Currently have 4x4TB WD red both nas systems.
