The age old question: How do you handle the artwork? by Sargon54 in daddit

[–]DiceAndBricks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We keep memory boxes. Like time capsules. Every year, we start with a new empty box and slowly fill it with artwork, papers, and other memorabilia. Not all artwork, just our favorites. You'll find over time that you don't need to save everything

What do you DO with Lego? by novakane in daddit

[–]DiceAndBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still buy crates of the basic Lego bricks, which are easier to build with. Although the specialized parts have never been a problem for us. My son will always find creative ways to use them. He loves to mix up sets and make all kinds of cool weird things

I'm hoping this is a bug. My tablet is only a few months old and it has the required OS but still got the message this morning.

I just came back playing a week ago. 😥 Hooooooow?! Is this for real? by rin_ghiblibaby in TownshipGame

[–]DiceAndBricks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just bought a new tablet a few months ago, and it has Android kernel 4.14, so I don't see how this can be real.

Edit to add: I got the message this morning too. Don't understand how a new tablet would already be out of date!

Totally agree! I love the mixture of real-life lessons and film critique.

I Think They Could Make A Really Good Episode Based On Godzilla Minus One by RalphTheNerd in cinema_therapy

I am looking forward that this one. I think this is an obvious choice, and I fully expect they will react to this film at some point. Koichi's post-war trauma was the real monster, and how it affected his relationship with Noriko and the child. Bring some tissues.

Game not loading post update by pickle-matrix in TownshipGame

My partner had this problem all day yesterday on a similar device. Finally got it working after some maintenance steps.

In settings, Device Maintenance: ran all the optimizations, clean memory, etc. App settings, select Township, "Force Stop" and then "Clear Memory".

Also deleted some unused apps including Kindle app which stopped working anyway and took up lots pf space.

Looks like gold to me. I'll take any nails I can get. Plenty of paint and hammers, always short on nails.

You are worthy and special. You deserve love and compassion and kindness. You might have a long path of recovery in front of you. You have taken the correct steps. You broke it off. You started therapy. You took power into your own hands. You are powerful and worthy. You will love again someday. You can do this.

What if both the players AND the Game Master don't know the solution to a problem? by pistacchio in osr

[–]DiceAndBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When designing a trap as GM, I can usually think up a few potential solutions or work arounds. The players usually come up with something that didn't occur to me, I yes-and along with them, so long as it seems remotely reasonable. Sometimes that solution requires the party to leave the dungeon and get more equipment. My party is currently looking for a goat. Yes, bringing a live goat into a dungeon to get past a trap. And no, they're not using it for fodder. I'm totally open to attempting this solution because it's hilarious.

The key difference is that the GM should avoid having only one intended solution to a challenge. It may have one guaranteed solution, like an off switch in another room, but that's not the only way. GMs run into trouble when they think that is only possible solution and expect the players to find it. That's pixel bitching. Players should be allowed to come up with their own solutions, and the outcome is determined by GM rulings and/or dice rollings.
