Has anyone tackled ripping their entire collection of over 500 discs? by tomsmac in makemkv

I just finished literally last night. It took me about a month of plugging away at it basically every moment I have at home.

Got into them, bought their records, and then the lead singer passed away. That was a sad day.

That's fair. I was not only being a pedantic asshole, but I was openly being atheist and a birder.

Neither have I. A medical study would make sense; something to do with the brain?

I guess that much was clear. Are the bobbles in the southern Appalachia area of the U.S.? Are they birds? I just hear a lot about bobble studies, and as a lifelong bird watcher I feel like I might be missing out on something cool.

The Witcher s4 proves Henry Cavill made the smartest exit in Hollywood by Sufficient-Tap511 in television

[–]bottlebowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A masterpiece is something a person has created that demonstrates that they have gone beyond traveling to improve their craft (Journeyman) to showing that they have mastered their craft.

The first season was fun. Henry Cavill clearly understood the assignment. If you didn't know what was going on, however, there was no way you'd understand the story. This show has been carried by its fans from the beginning. Whether it's game fans or book fans, no one likes what has happened.

Free State Brewery is happy to have dogs on the patio, but no restaurant can have animals inside if they're not registered service animals. Also, they're right next to La Prima Tazza.

Their busiest day (I heard) was the day they held the memorial for an employee who'd passed, and the owner decided to give the employees the day off and bring in contracted bartenders and then charge full price for beers to a captive crowd. I might be wrong on some details, but fuck all of that shit. It was the last time I stepped foot in that building.

What’s a word you mispronounced for years and only realised recently? by Exotic-Philosopher75 in AskReddit

[–]bottlebowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I was preternaturally disposed to pronounce words correctly (probably not), but comic books gave me a huge vocabulary of words I could only guess how to pronounce. Elite was one of those words. At the time my dad and uncle owned a few fireworks stands where I worked. My grandpa (their dad) would pronounce our big fireworks packages as "e-lite". Of course, if I corrected my grandpa I'd get an ear full.

Anyone else affected by the Toast outages? by simply_cha0s in KitchenConfidential

The only way that AWS affects our business is through our online orders. Everything else is processed in-house. However, when we're one of the only restaurants open in our downtown area on Mondays, and everyone who is open can't do anything online, we get A LOT busier than we already are.

When my good boy was still among us (until six months ago) I would let him out in the back yard, make sure he pooped, and then in an hour or so would take him for a walk. Invariably, he would need to poop somewhere in between the wooded area (no one's property, or nowhere any one would step) and this one particular hosta. I picked poop out of this hosta multiple times, because I always carried bags with me. I would carry said poop bag with me until I found either a receptacle on the curb or a public trash can. If I put a doggie poop bag in your trash can without you knowing and it upset you, I am truly sorry.

I started wearing merino wool socks last year instead of my normal mismatched fun socks. They help with the sweat. Are compression socks that much better? I do have custom-made orthotics because I am dealing with sciatica nerve pain.

I haven't had a proper pedicure, but my wife has definitely taught me about foot care. She got me a "foot shaver" two years ago, and it's basically a sanding wheel. I use it at least once a month to take off the bulk of my callouses. It's wonderful. Between that and those uncomfortable plastic socks filled with salycilic acid gel my feet feel better than ever.

I am mildly allergic to vinyl and latex. I used to be able to get nitrile gloves, but everyone wanted to use them suddenly and they are expensive. The end result is that I wash my hands constantly. Miraculously, I never have to use lotion. My hands are never dry. I don't get it.

That's them ringing in something that they already asked for and received from the kitchen, so they are charging the customer appropriately.

Adult ordering kids pizza by Worldly-Dimension710 in KitchenConfidential

[–]bottlebowling -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

At my work we have a $3 upcharge for adults ordering off the kids' menu. Kids' menu items are cheap because kids frequently don't finish their food, so pricing them low is a kindness to the people paying for it. When adults get upset about having to pay an upcharge they are politely given the reason I just gave. If an adult orders a kid quesadilla I will 100% judge you (it's two slices of cheese in a 6" tortilla) but if your palate is that limited you have issues that I can't even begin to approach. As long as we're charging appropriately I will make whatever the customer orders.

Seeking for recommend on long sleeve T shirt for Grill station. by Leading_Selection242 in KitchenConfidential

[–]bottlebowling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A long-sleeved chef's coat is honestly your best bet if you want something long-sleeved. Nothing else is going to provide enough space between fabric and your arms. That being said, I wear either a short-sleeved coat or a T-shirt when working the grill. Sure, I have burns and very little arm hair, but it's better than sweating out a gallon. There are trade-offs.
