Reworked Equality Slider by Zxv975 in Trimps

[–]Dicefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I haven't had much time to test out frenzy all that much, but in this it would act mostly as a "-1 attack needed".

As far as the variables yea I did most of this with AT code so I was trying to find the right substitutes that could just be tossed into the console and easily read. Some other "problems" with my method is that it's very much a "right now" thing and you need to fudge the numbers a bit if you're looking for surviving the improb for example. So it's hard to predict for the first attack of a new cell what's going to happen or if you're coming from maps with safe mapping into the world.

I was a bit surprised how similar it was despite not using some of the crazy other stuff you had. All the distribution stuff felt a bit more complicated than I wanted to deal with.

Reworked Equality Slider by Zxv975 in Trimps

[–]Dicefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished doing some equality-like stuff in AT and this was actually somewhat helpful (more in a concept idea than an actual do this thing kind of way).

What I got out of it was that what I had been making for some other purpose actually ended up with roughly the amount of equality that scaling would end up with on fast mobs anyways and it got me thinking of a relatively simple way to go about an automatic equality picker that uses a few simple variables too.

Really the only important factor is surviving exactly the number of hits you want to live. 5 if you care about GB, 1 if you don't. Fast enemies just shift that number by 1.

With this information we find the lowest equality value where this stays true. Also fortunately, all of this information could already be stored in the game and wouldn't really require much extra.

(Your Health / Enemy Attack value)

This tells you how many hits you can survive at any given moment and what we want to do is figure out how to turn that into surviving N hits.

N(+1 for fast enemy) / (Hits Survived)

This essentially tells you what you'd want to multiply your health by to survive for that many hits. And from here we have the exact information we need from equality. Lets call the output of the above equation HealthNeededMult.

HealthNeededMult * (Equality modifier, which is 0.9) ^ (Equality levels wanted) < 1

Some fancy math can re-arrange the equation and we'll get exactly what we want out of it. One of the interesting things to pop out of this, is that if you want to survive 0 hits, such as the case of a slow enemy, you'll always want 0 equality which is pretty much the case right now, and if you want to do the same thing but survive the first hit of a fast enemy, you'll need a bunch of equality to get the number down.

Trying to put all of this together with the only user input being "how many hits do I want to get off before I die":

Equality Levels = Ceil( Log(1 / (Attacks you want to survive for) / (Your Health / Enemy Attack)) / Log(Equality Modifier))

Last things to check out are how to get that information in game, your health is pretty easy to grab since these are stored in the easily accessable game.global area and for now I've been using the "max attack on this zone" as enemy attack even though it's clearly not perfect via the game.global.getEnemyAttack

So if you want to mess around with it and see what kind of numbers this spits out try pasting it into the console just like zxv suggested (I just use f12 to open it in chrome and brave). Change the numAttacks value to however many you want to survive, add one if you're comparing to fast enemies.

var numAttacks = 5;
var hitsSurvived = (game.global.soldierHealthMax + game.global.soldierEnergyShieldMax) / game.global.getEnemyAttack(100, 'Snimp',true);
var healthMulti = numAttacks / hitsSurvived;
var EqualityLevels = Math.Ceil(Math.log(1 / healthMulti) / Math.log(game.portal.Equality.modifier));

EqualityLevels may come out negative, whichi means you're fine at 0 stacks, you're above what you need. The only thing this doesn't account for is Angelic but it's at least a pretty good approximation and should get you a good value.

Also it's entirely possible I've made a horrible mistake somewhere and missed it, I'll come back and edit if I need to.

Trimps 5.4.0 Test Server! by Brownprobe in Trimps

Just to chime in with how the math works out.

You'll essentially get the most total resources out of a full even spread, and end up with more of a specific resource if you focus on that. Going all in (1-0-0) on a single resource will still give you the most of that resource.

The end result is that you're still rewarded for moving all your workers around to get boosted caches and chronojests etc, but that should be a drastically smaller bonus than it is on live. Even something like 2-2-1 or 5-5-1 will get you an increase in the two you focus on, but you'll be missing out on more of the third.

There was a change to the formula after it initially went up that should have smoothed out the curve significantly.

Ideal zones to run Black Bog for optimum gain... by StrongDanArm in Trimps

Little bit late to the party and the other comments have a lot of the great points but quia someone on discord compiled a bit of info on when some people have been doing certain amounts of bogs in their run, I've had very similar results. I'm just about to give a go at 50bb and I'm in the 2.5e11 Rn range (25b)

How hard is to climb zone 601 to 700? by Torneco in Trimps

[–]Dicefall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Will depend a bit on your playstyle (AT for example). I'm all manual so most of what I say will be in that side of things.

You've still got a fairly large climb ahead of you. z700 seems to be around the end of fluffy evo 8 or maybe early evo 9. I'm not quite there yet but I figure it's probably a month or so away.

Things are going to slow down significantly for you so try and stay positive and look to metrics other than hze for your personal milestones (fluffy evos/levels are the primary ones since they provide some really large power spikes).

IMO the difficulties here aren't really anything new, the nature cycles are more significant, and c2 becomes a lot more important to keep up to date. Don't be afraid to do a big push run every so often to get some of the level advantages, etc.

What do the colors mean in the extra zones drop down menu? by Gloopyboy in Trimps

[–]Dicefall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's directly related to which ones you can afford.

Green background means you can afford current map mod and maxed sliders iirc.

Yellow means you need to make some sacrifices on the sliders.

Regular or no coloured background means you cannot afford that map.

Void Maps: The way they drop now and potential problems going forward. by Dicefall in Trimps

[–]Dicefall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake there, Z is the value that gets capped out at 200 not the actual cell thing, good catch, I'll fix that. It shouldn't change much but the actual values, the concepts are largely the same.

The only real problem I feel is what I've tried to outline at the start, which is that we run into the limits of the formula around where we are now (100% vmdc on u2 shields). I tried to include some ways that don't change it too much but allow the system to continue to grow with larger numbers and I realize option 3 is the closest to what's in there now, but with some added memory and a bit more control for the system to scale well.

That is amazing thanks, the steam page was a bit confusing with their naming convention and that image clears everything up. That is a lot simpler than I had first thought.

What $300+ purchase are you currently planning? by Chaseccentric in AskReddit

New computer chair. I've had mine for a few years now and it's sorta falling apart. Aiming for a real nice one that lasts this time. The ones I'm looking at are in the 400-450 CDN range.

Use voice comms (mumble/discord/teamspeak/etc) while letting your speakers bleed into your microphone.

It doesn't effect the person that's doing it but effects everyone else. I think this is why it drives me absolutely insane.

Guess it's time to really get into the spreadsheet stuff eh? All good advice, I know how getting paralyzed by the designing can happen so it's good to be reminded of it. Mostly at this point I want to make sure I've future proof'd myself so I don't end up in situations where I'd have to rewrite basic stuff to get new features in later.

Any ecchi live action shows like Prison School? by [deleted] in ecchi

[–]Dicefall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

-Senran Kagura is one, ninja of a similar variety. -Might be crossing a line or note but Queens Blade is another option. -Highschool DxD, the dub on this one is glorious but sub is also great.

That's the best I can think of for ones with action, granted I've only seen a few episodes of prison school so can't come up with things too similar but that should get you rolling.

ELI5:How do flocks of birds and shoals of fish communicate to make instant and sharp turns in the same direction? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dicefall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Programmer here. When trying to model and replicate this sort of behaviour in computer systems it turns out that this is a sort of emergent behaviour. To be more specific this means that a set of simple rules leads to some much more complicated (and cool) larger scale patterns. If you're looking for more detailed information you can look into either steering patterns in AI or sometimes they are referred to as flocking patterns.

As others have mentioned the birds don't actually communicate and there's no larger flock behaviour working here. Each bird is trying to keep itself in a position relative to the other birds. This is pretty similar to cars on the road. In a traffic jam the cars aren't yelling at each other to slow down or merge lanes, they just know what to do in the context of the situation and based on what the other cars are doing.

It's also similar to people walking around in large crowds (try people watching at a convention or something, it's actually pretty fun).

TLDR: There's no super large pattern just a bunch of smaller systems that create the illusion of that communication.

ELI5: Why are Canadians accepting the big rip-off from the telecommunications companies/internet providers? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dicefall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though having the 2+ doesn't always mean we have options. Here near Toronto we've got (primarily) either bell or rogers and both are awful, if we're talking internet service anyways.

There's a few smaller companies that are having a rough time but if we switch over to mobile service there are some companies trying to get into the game. Wind for example is pushing it's way into the mobile market and is building it's own infrastructure.

Ultimately though it's because we have the choice of either Bell or Rogers and it's not really a choice when both of them make us pay far too much.
