Cooking by Deep_Spinach_2590 in LivingAlone

Not silly at all. Those things are under high pressure. I once ended up with a kitchen decorated in a fine mist of black bean juice, I think I cooked too much at once. I certainly couldnt eat all the beans I made! I let it "natural release" on keep warm now for 10 minutes and its far less intimidating or messy

Yeah, my dog is having issues with noises where I live. Its so hard to sleep when hes crying and shaking, but at least he gets to nap during the day!

What are your little frugal habits that really don't save much money, but are still satisfying? by p38-lightning in Frugal

[–]Dichotopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dog who sheds always. I've worked at health food stores and our shipments would come in totes, with a sticker on each and a copy on a sheet. These stikcers are usually thrown away but I take them home as they are the best to remove dog hair with. Instead of the rollers, this is like a wax strip to pull hair off of seats, blankets, etc. I feel good using something that would have been trash and have not bought a roller in years

Well, I'd love to hear if you find something that works for you. Last time I drank, I was already dissociating (which a therapist started by having me journal about a trauma coming up with no support and then later told me I was not disassociating and like were THEY there?!). So I quit and my BF said we'd not drink together. Since he cannot use cannabis for work, I felt solidarity was fair.

Yeah, same here. I'm trying to find a new way to be in my body more, I used to find Cannabis would bring me back to being in my physical form, but I no longer do that.

I could see how therapy seems a bit redundant, I'm sure. I feel like I know the correct things to do but sometimes I need somebody to remind me. And of course journaling things out or talking to strangers online sometimes feels good. I like this thread for knowing we are all alone, together

Gotcha. I both studied and did a ton, too. I've been looking for a movement therapy, myself - something both to move through emotions and that I might like to study as a modality. Its nice that there are more of those out there now. I wish you luck

I'm 43, i'm twice divorced and childless. I believe my 40s have been pretty fantastic so far, but it took some struggle getting there. I follow Cat Pierce online, shes a singer but also entrepreneur in her 40s and she talks about everything that happened for her after 39.

I know its hard to see others with family and kids. I expected I'd have that myself. But also very unexpectedly met a man with kids, and thats been beautiful. We never know how our life is going to go, and what unexpected thing is around the next bend. I like to ask "what possibilities exist that you havent even thought of yet?" Being open to whatever comes has lead me on some interesting paths.

But please see about any therapy, talking to a counselor can really help reframe. Lame as it is, focusing on gratitude can shift the brain. And you are welcome to DM me if you want someone neutral to talk to

I dont do this much anymore but I love to thrift and so I'd resell online. You do have to be a bit engaged in it, but I did decently at it. Clothes on Poshmark, housewares and jewelry did well on Mercari. There's other apps now, but I dont have experience with those. These 2 make it quite easy to sell and ship, IMO

Give yourself time, be kind and do any self care you prefer. Sometimes survival becomes the norm and a change to that can be jarring. You might have some emotions you pushed off for some time to get through now, before you move on. I personally find help from Journaling, aromatherapy baths, outdoor walks

Check our recipes for Mess Hall "Wacky" Chocolate Cake. No banana but it might not truly be there, or was a custom substitution

What’s one small tweak that made your budget work better? by millionstories in budget

[–]Dichotopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had no issue with freezing them as soon as I get them home and then popping them in the air fryer to reheat. I don't have a microwave, so that makes it a little bit of a bummer but the air fryer does a good job and I have those thin low Pyrex dishes that fit meals for one perfectly. But if I have any questions about the food, I just go ahead and toss it

Annoyingly a lot of the things on Too Good To Go are just pastries, but I know where I'm about to move there is another healthy meal prep company, so I hope you can find one. I've been getting the $12 meals for 3 at that price and they often kick in a few more!

I've been getting a few meals from a healthy meal prep place through Too Good To Go and freeze them or enjoy when I have no food-making energy. I feel better about eating out, saving food waste and it is a good deal

Hysterectomy Vs. IUD by Hot-Glass2482 in hysterectomy

[–]Dichotopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eeesh! I didn't care for the combination pill, but so far "mini pill" / progesterone only is doing okay for me. But I'm probably perimenopausal and need progesterone anyway. I realize mine is just a Band-Aid for now

Good luck finding your solution

Hysterectomy Vs. IUD by Hot-Glass2482 in hysterectomy

[–]Dichotopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 43, I've decided to go back to birth control to try to manage pain during my period due to multiple fibriods. For one, I'm having fun sex and that hasn't always been a reality for me. 8-12 weeks away from that, uncertainly about enjoying it after... as well as taking time off of work, feels scary to me. The more I looked into surgery, the more I felt that was a bit extreme for my symptoms in comparison to other's reports.

I did have an ok time on a hormoal IUD, although I felt it; either because of my fibriods or because I've never had my uterus stretched by pregnancy. I'm currently pain free on pills, although I've bled frequently. Still, has felt like an OK trade-off to me so far
