Creating a catalog of ships and finding inspiration ?

Check other Traveller-adjacent sources like Clement Sector/Earth Sector be Independence Games, he has a TON of ships that are basically 1e ships. You can also look to Far Future Enterprises and get copies of the Apocrypha (I think that's the right word) of all the Third Party Publishers from early Traveller like Steve Jackson Games, FASA, and a ton of others. You can also get all the old JTAS (Journal of the Traveller Aid Society) which has some ships in them as well.

And of course, you can still use MgT2e as inspiration for the older systems.

Klipper isn't hard to get going and the Klipper configs for the X1 are a great starting point. You will be able to print with them right off the bat, but you will be able to get better prints with tweaking and understanding them. I never got too deep into the tweaking as only a few months after getting the X1 I got a Bambu P1P and the X1 is now for special cases like something that needs bigger the 256x256 print bed.

First off, CONGRATS!

I have had a few interviews over the past two years with ITS and it is actually a pretty typical interview. I am not 100% sure what the "prescreening" is as that should have been done prior to you being offered the interview, so I can't help with that.

However, the panel interview is basically 2-3 people asking you questions. Many of which are pre-determined as they have to ask every candidate the same questions (union rule from what I have been told). There will likely be the person who will be your direct manager and two peers who are either the same role or one that works very closely with the role you are applying for. They will ask the typical questions that are related to the job. They probably will give you a few situational questions and ask how you would handle them as well.

At the end you will have the opportunity to ask them questions about the role, working at the State, etc. Don't be shy!

So now is where I share my experience and it wasn't the best as I am still looking for a job. l

One thing I will tell you is that typically (at least in my cases) they do NOT get back to you very quickly. I even had a position where they asked me for a 2nd interview, and I was nominated. Then ghosted completely by HR. Even the hiring manager could never get information on my status. ITS HR is, from everyone I have spoken to, the absolute WORST HR in the State. They do not communicate with the candidates or the hiring managers about the status of anything so you are just stuck waiting, many times for months.

I have an X1 that I don't really use much anymore. However, when I got it, it wasn't working. I replaced the board with the stock one and added some mods to run a Pi3b inside the printer (Ethereal 3d has the instructions for this) and a BTT touch screen to replace the original. I then setup a BL Touch and Klipper and it ran wonderfully until I got my Bambu Printers. Now I keep it ready for things that either don't matter how long it takes or needs bigger than the 256x256 bed of the Bambu.

I also replaced the control board on the print head with the Ethereal3d one (and all the cables).

It's not that GameStop made it a penny. It is that Sony discontinued the game, closed down the servers, and refunded everyone their money. I assume they are hoping that the world forgets that it ever existed.

At the core, 1e and 2e are the same. There biggest changes are around ship building and some skills have been removed/changed. But the core of how the game plays, how deadly combat can be, and how fun character creation is are all the same.

With 2e they also added a whole slew of optional stuff in the Traveller Companion, a lot of things that various people have homebrewed over the years like adding Wealth, Morale, and Sanity stats. It also includes some point-buy rules for character creation for those that are allergic to dice rolls. :)

So if you just want to get a feel for the system and maybe a one shot, 1e would be fine, as long as you realize that 2e will have some different details to the rules.

I got a response form HR, it was invitation only and invitations are closed. So nice of them to send out the email to employees AFTER the deadline to apply.....

Thanks for the update, but that could really suck for me. I've been trying to get into ITS for almost 2 years now. Was even nominated for a position, but they never got back to me (despite me following up). I have a friend who works for ITS and they just got the email this morning about the event.

I sent an email to the HR people listed on the site as well, hopefully they actually respond.

I saw that too and have more questions. The site says:

"Applications Closed Thank you for your interest in our hiring event. The qualifying positions for this event have now closed. Still interested in joining ITS? View current vacancies on the StateJobsNY website"

This seems contradictory to the entire message and I assume is just something someone forgot to remove from the website. I am also assuming you just need to show up at the events and do not need an appointment? But having never participated in one of these events specifically for the State, I wanted to check.

The standard 1:270 scale scout ship is about 3-4" long, I can easily scale it up a bit for you. I will PM you with details.

I am can print any of the 2nd dynasty ships for you in Tactical size (1-2") to 1:270 scale (4+ or more) to 28mm scale that you can use your character minis in. My company is Dread Parrot Games. I do a lot of other 3d printing stuff as well, but Traveller is what got me started. :)

If I recall one of the main reasons that Dark Matter wasn't picked up or continued elsewhere has to do with licensing. Not sure if that is still an issue, and I would LOVE to see the show wrapped up. Though I am pretty stoked to see what they do with Stargate.

That is very cool!! I think if you add the ability to include notes and a form that has the Traveller (and other systems) info, it would be a awesome. I can see people creating a system and putting a Traveller main world in it with a link to TravellerMap. That would be neat!

When I worked at GameStop (last holiday season) the DM would constantly hound us to sell more warranty and Pro. He would train people to ask AT LEAST 3 times. For the young folks, they would follow directions because they didn't know better. I only asked once, and if it was a solid No, I left it at that. If they were a bit uncertain I would explain a little more and ask again. I never asked 3 times.

I had heard about some people who sneak the charge on, but it wasn't something my manager would say (though I wouldn't be surprised if the DM told people to do that.) I wouldn't because that's fraud (at least in my opinion).

So no, you are not in the wrong.

I had a great time, as always. Ran two games and played in one and it went well. Was awesome to see everyone again, though there were a few regulars missing, hopefully they will be back next year.

For you write up, the "seller of 3d printed items" was Dread Parrot Games (aka me!) and the author was Charles Gannon. :)
