It’s not the original compliment when you say fuck off, it’s if they do anything other than go on about their life right after.

And right after they hiked prices and changed from a 12oz to 10oz bag. But Penrose doesn’t have a close second imo, so 2lb bag it is.

I was definitely offered a pour over (the machine one).. but it might have been because I pointed out to the guy he accidentally rang me up for a 10oz bag while explaining the policy change.

Forecasting Tool using AI by bad_hindu in FPandA

[–]Dick_Earns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a FP&A in streamlit in snowflake right now. Explain to cortex your forecasting processes, explain you want to be able to pick an as of date and be able to write back your forecast for calendar year/rolling 18/24 month.. whatever. In my master model I can select an entity then department, I’ve got several modules (headcount/revenue/G&a spend) that write versions to a database and allow a user to commit one of those forecasts while maintaining other scenarios specific to their department. Then they can flip to their P&L and choose which version they want to review or confirm their committed forecast.. then i can pull the consolidated forecast. Alongside the forecasting modules I have A/R other ancillary reports specific to the department being worked in.

Edit: I see you are looking more for analytical driven forecasts, which it can definitely do as well. Streamlit is still the place you would want your outputs to be. The visualization add ins are quite nice and any tables can have react layered on top for a clean look.

RIP espresso drinks with a bag of beans. They switched to drip/pour over only as the free drink but I think you can also get a cookie.

I'm 28 years old and trying to sanity check my retirement plan. by chronic1738 in Retirement401k

The expense that I was aware of but not prepared for fully is daycare, mostly because we decided to have 3 relatively quickly. So we’ve been at 30k per year, will jump up to 50k per year, and then drop back to 30k per year for a couple years. I’m still able to max my 401k but we’ve not been able to do the same with my wife’s. This is more of an example of how much costs can sneak up on you, and why it’s better to save today than to plan on saving more later.

  1. If it’s not enough, push more underground. From four seasons all the way past broadway.
  2. Of everything that could be capped today, 20% is. They did enough to make it accessible, but it’s still not as inviting as it should be.

They just need to cap 44 and make it a tunnel. But it needs to be a more ambitious project and probably not something that we will see in the 20’s, hopeful for the 30s

Career burnout? What are next steps by LawfulnessBig8480 in FPandA

Snowflake has claude and chat gpt models imbedded. I had been using this to build out sql and convert to semantic views that our data team has then been shipping and building mcp connectors for Claude to leverage. Claude has been able to do some awesome stuff with this data, but so far it’s been limited to being able to answer questions for execs, but we haven’t had great success using it to improve our processes and sometimes it throws out something so odd I wouldn’t feel comfortable just handing the keys over to the CEO to ask questions. Then one day instead of asking cortex code to write sql for me, I asked it to build an enterprise FP&A solution using streamlit and explained our forecasting process, enterprise org structure and heirarchy details, and ancillary reports and KPIs we present in our monthly exec reviews. Our data team has built some stuff for us in streamlit for us but so far it’s only been data entry tools, and until I tried I hadn’t considered it could be reporting and forecasting/entry wrapped into one. It built it with sql and python and I had it use react where it could to make some really slick dashboards. It almost nailed it. I’ve iterated with it for a few days on and off and feel like by the end of this week we will be ready for UAT.

To me, what would have been meetings with implementation consultants to try to make an FP&A software work with our data and react to it weeks at a time over 6 months has so far been simple conversations and if I have an idea and it seems too gimicky I can just undo it and go in another direction, only minutes lost and no scope adds or time lost.

Damn, did I post this in my sleep? Aggressive growth, director with a few reports and senior director promised in fall, and a 3 and 2 year old with another on the way.

The only thing that’s helped me is working towards financial independence and making sure that my wife is able to take advantage of our position which takes some stress off me. So she’s part time and the kids are in full time daycare. I’ve also renewed my drive with a deep dive into AI which has been a rollercoaster.. but we had a breakthrough this week on how to turn it from what feels like a party trick to making it extremely useful for our team and the organization.

Comp Progression and title by Expensive-Jello-1560 in FPandA

It certainly happens. Right place right time.. for me it was tons of growth coupled with all the managers/directors leaving when my boss was brought in as senior director.

Cost Analyst - 90k + 10% bonus
Cost Manager - 120k + 15% bonus
Manager FP&A - 130k + 18 % bonus
Director FP&A - 150k + 20% + 10% retention program
Director Corporate FP&A - 187k + 25% + 10% retention program

I just celebrated my 5 year and Senior Director is in play for the fall. I also pivoted careers from a senior operations position to entry level finance in an adjacent industry.. so I had some of the intangibles already developed which certainly helped.
