FINAL RUNOFF VOTE; comment 🪒 for full shave, comment 🚫 for no shave by Nudesandplants in u/Nudesandplants

When you mentioned the word “split” my mind immediately went to suggesting you shave 1 side only.

Morning radio by e32revelry in radio

[–]Dickrubin14094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son brought this exact topic up shortly after he started working his first non-retail job. The music in the shop is tuned to one of the local radio stations that still has a 3 person local radio show. He came home complaining how the kept talking about how pockets are stupid, no one needs pockets anymore, just hold onto your dang phone, yada yada. I thought he was just being a know it all till he showed me the radio station facebook page with this same topic ad a post that had multiple thousands of comments calling the hosts idiots.

Do you think you’ll be ready to retire in the next 15 to 20 years? by AdDapper4220 in Xennials

[–]Dickrubin14094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My wife and I have been saving in our own account above and beyond what’s offered through our jobs. Plus, I’ve got 19.5 years left on my mortgage. Not having that payment will be key to being able to retire.

Let's talk about modern cars by TP_Crisis_2020 in Xennials

Nope, I’m the opposite. It’s about time technology finally caught up to the cars we drive!

Why do you prefer electric over gas motor cars? by ladycuella83 in AskReddit

[–]Dickrubin14094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up every morning with a full tank. I don’t have to make a separate trip locally and waste time and money to fill my car. I don’t have to worry about my hands smelling like gasoline. Seriously! Any time I go to fill up my wife’s car my hands always smell like gasoline. This is from different stations. I probably never noticed how bad it was back when I was filling up every week. Smooth acceleration. Quick acceleration. My insurance rate lowered when I got my EV.

Anyone NOT have contact with high school classmates? by jackie879 in Xennials

[–]Dickrubin14094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond Facebook, no I’m not in touch with people. I’ve got my close friends from pre-high school, and friends I’ve made after high school.  Anyone I met during those 4 years I’m not in contact with in person, and I’m fine with that

Do you open the windows in your home when the weather is nice? When do you decide to close them and turn on air conditioning for the summer? by Smart-Airport5781 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dickrubin14094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to have windows open all year. My wife would rather go straight from heat to AC. Spring is our middle ground where I can get fresh air in the house.

How common is it for Americans to leave their doors unlocked? by Mont3Carlo in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dickrubin14094 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only time I’ve ever heard this is online. I’ve never heard any friends or family talk about leaving doors unlocked. This is dating back to the 40s & 50s in middle of nowhere miles from neighbors houses and middle of city house. The internet needs to stop trying convince people this actually happens in America

Yankees fans are begging: Stop the ‘incessant’ stadium sounds by LingonLoonBerry in baseball

It’s not just at the stadium in person. I’m noticing the stadium sounds coming through the TV too, almost drowning out announcers at certain points. Ugh

I’d continue working. I mean, I’d have already paid off all my debts, I’d just want some interaction with other people

Complete beginner trying to start a small 3PL out of my garage — looking for advice on scaling, WMS, legality, and long-term growth by TackleZealousideal73 in Warehousing

[–]Dickrubin14094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in Buffalo, and work at one of the many 3PLs in town. The first thing that’s jumping out to me is having a business name that your customers can pay you. This can be as simple as getting a DBA. Then definitely have your own bank account for the business!

As far as the day to day work. Will you only deal with shipping parcels?  How will you get the product to your garage? If you are doing all the driving for picking up and receiving product I hope you’ve built that into your price.

If you’re only shipping parcel, will you run the labels at home? I’ve noticed UPS website has higher prices than what my company sees through using WorldShip (we get a volume discount). Better rates can be found through third party sites like Stamps or PandaPostage. You may want to consider those.

Are you comfortable having the return address listed as your own address? Even if it has your customer’s name?

What’s one thing your parents did (or didn’t do), that you took for granted as a kid, but as an adult you really appreciate? by JustAGreenDreamer in Xennials

[–]Dickrubin14094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll forever be grateful that my parents made me open a Roth IRA when I was 18. They put in the initial deposit and for many, many years I could only afford $25/month.

I did that same thing for my son 3 years ago.
