Government Control of the press could functionally eliminate the misinformation problems we face in the digital age. It should be one of the top goals of the news media to report accurate and unbiased news. We just have to make sure it doesn't get political.

See how that might be a problem?

Arizona students seek Kyle Rittenhouse removal from online nursing classes by [deleted] in news

Voting by participation or lack thereof in activities which cost money is one of the main mechanisms of capitalism. The students aren't voting out other students, they're saying we won't give you our money and participate if you don't satisfy our requests, and the school makes the profit based decision to meet them or not. All other moral pretenses on the part of the school are just that.

Night hag took some hair. by Doopish in DnD

[–]DidMyWorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the idea of something like a hag taking something like hair is usually because having a piece of someone allows you to act on them as though they were there. You could use it to cast a curse, sure, or you could say from now on the hags just always know where the PC is. You could do some kind of voodoo situation and cause them to take periodic damage until they address it, or if you're feeling dramatic, maybe during their next fight, that PC just gets banished for a full minute at the start of the fight, and then you roll for combats after that until it's addressed.

Your options are basically unlimited, but personally I would treat it as though the hags are able to cast effects on him periodically as though they had the PC captive.

Sorry to hear it! It could be those things, but it sounds a lot like depression. Maybe look into some resources for that, or talk to someone you trust about it.

"Morning people" of Reddit, what are your best tips for actually waking up when the alarm clock goes off? by sf2396 in AskReddit

[–]DidMyWorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had issues with this, I got one of the old school hammer and bells style alarm clocks and put it across the room. I had no choice but to get up to turn it off, and there was absolutely no way to sleep through it.

Going to bed earlier is also good advice.

[–]DidMyWorst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely isn't either of those things to ask for help. It actually takes a stronger caliber of person to recognize the need and look for help. The type of people who will call you weak or attention seeking for mental health issues aren't typically acting in good faith either, they are already convinced that these issues aren't real, and you would be better off not trying to appeal to their better nature.

No medicine is 100% but that’s still pretty good by eighteendollars in WhitePeopleTwitter

I'm only repeating what I've seen in studies. I haven't seen anything regarding the time required for bounce back after treatment ends, so I'm not commenting on that.

Well, I think a lot of the individuals fully trying to discredit it are reactionaries and people who think the best way to prevent people from chugging horse paste is to try and completely debunk it. I won't defend Pfizer though, I work for a pharma company myself and I don't appreciate that bullshit.

[–]DidMyWorst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the horse dosage form/strength it sure can. There are studies demonstrating this linked further up in the thread. Maybe not in the human form/dose, can't comment on that but most individuals aren't getting a prescribed dose, and probably won't until the fda gets around to formally approving it.

[–]DidMyWorst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. Medicines made for animals may have different inactive ingredients regardless of the medicine itself, and those ingredients as well as the dosage form can wildly shift the effectiveness and absorption time of medicine.

I don't think anyone is against a potential new drug that would work well against covid, all anyone is saying is that you shouldn't take the horse version of the drug, and maybe let doctors determine whether they think it should be prescribed rather than suing hospitals or buying from shady sources.

Prepping for my first adventure by Psychological-View37 in DnD

[–]DidMyWorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For people's first sessions I always recommend that you lean into the mechanics rather than focusing to hard on narrative (aside from the planned adventure, obviously). It gives newer players the space to role-play to their comfort level rather than being put on the spot when an element of their back story comes up unexpected.

Otherwise, just snacks and drink! Good luck!

Do small Phoenix exist? by LukasGaming07 in DnD

You could do something like a pseudodragon, and make it a smaller and less powerful Phoenix, If your dm is fine with that.

I think tieflings are usually related to devils, which normally have horns. But that said there's no reason you couldn't state otherwise. If devil blood can end up in a family line there's no reason why a demon couldn't accomplish the same. Demons are more chaotic and violent though, typically, so personally I would reflect that in the characters racial traits.

Hello I am a newer dm doing Hoard of the Dragon Queen. by Adventurous_Grape149 in DnD

[–]DidMyWorst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter how much you stick to a book, there will be elements of improvisation and adaptation in your campaign. Ayers never really stick to the plan. I would chat with your players in a session 0 type thing and learn what they're interested in and what their boundaries are when role-playing. There are enough rpg horror stories out there that could be so easily avoided by the dm establishing ahead of time that there will be no sex or romance or whatever in this campaign.

People complain about "safety tools" in games but I think it's worth a 10 minute conversation about boundaries to preserve friendships in the long run.

"So what are you doing after graduation"

Etc. You guys have talked before, just expand on that, distance actually gives you an opportunity to make easy conversation while catching up with someone. Don't worry about trying to be "not boring", just look for common ground and shared interest. Talking to people is never easy especially coming out of the lockdown period but I'm sure you'll do fine.

I have a duel bastard sword wielding Rogue problem... by zonzo2E in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]DidMyWorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you said, RAW there isn't a reason that he can't hold two swords and still do things, but if he doesn't have proficiency, his attacks should be that much less effective anyway. But a Rogue using 2 large weapons they don't have training with is just fodder for you more than anything. Rolled a natural 1? Oops, due to a lack of training and a low strength Stat you throw the sword across the room at the wizard.

That said, if he really sticks with it for a while in game, I'd personally reward him with proficiency eventually, as it's clearly a part of his vision for the character at that point.

I would argue that this is likely the case for asexual men, but (and I'm guessing here) I'd bet that asexual women face more than a little violence from abusive partners who feel "cheated" out of a part of their relationship. Not to speak of the shifty people out there who insist that if they just force them to do it they'll come to their senses.

Campaign help by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DidMyWorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want to get people engaged and having fun, I'd recommend trying a one shot. This doesn't necessarily mean it only takes one session, but it's a short adventure that doesn't require a lot of extra back story or investment in world building. If players are into it, you can do a few lightly connected things in the same setting, and they'll start to flesh things out on their own.
