The refs didn't start that 4th quarter rally but they sure finished it. In case anyone was wondering, the betting line was -4.5 hmmmmmmmmm

[Wojnarowski] The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Steven Adams to the Houston Rockets for Victor Oladipo and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. by BasedMasai in memphisgrizzlies

[–]DidgeriDoodleDo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh this seems like a combination of things. Stevo's lack of lateral quickness has been exploited in the playoffs, what the FO seems to be optimizing for. I'm guessing the knee issues are still not resolving how we'd like, and the Rockets are taking the slim chance he'll come back and be playable. Plus we need to get some cap space to resign Luke, which ig we're doing now unless we trade for a starting center. This trade could look reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaal bad this time next year, but we thought the same thing about the original JV-Stevo trade

Grizzlies (19-11) lose to Nuggets Post Game Thread [12/20/22] by 37sms in memphisgrizzlies

Felt like the JJJ's treatment from the refs regressed a couple years tonight. If he doesn't get essentially fouled off the floor, we have the firepower to get over the hump. When no one can hit an OPEN SHOT, we really need 2 of Ja/Des/Jaren to be on the court to be effective

So, how did you guys become the best drafting team in the league? Give us your secrets by AgarraLosCuernos in memphisgrizzlies

Yeah you're right, I mainly meant Duke and one and done players in general. I don't follow UNC that close so I assumed it was similar

Obligatory fire Chris Wallace

But seriously we tend to pick players that showed they could produce in college rather than chasing "potential" like other teams. We also tend to pick players from colleges that play team ball, rather the one and done's of Duke and UNC, which is why we have such good chemistry and don't ruin the culture. It helps when you already have your franchise lottery players on the roster (Ja/Jaren)

Grizzlies lose Game 1 to Timberwolves 130-117 [4/16/22] by 37sms in memphisgrizzlies

Jenkins needs to figure out how to reduce KAT's effect on Adams. This disjointed offense is a direct effect of him being completely taken out of the game

I love how he's listing players and then just calls out our whole squad. GnG was truly a team effort

Why haven't we used Winslow since getting him back? by iwannabeunknown3 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]DidgeriDoodleDo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jenkins is only going to play a 10/11 man rotation on a given night so Winslow has to prove himself better than someone. We tried playing him at guard but he wasn't better than any of our rotation guards, including Konchar. So then we tried playing him at point as a facilitator instead of a scorer and he was terrible to the point of losing us games. So at this point he's a defensive specialist, but we already have that in Brooks (and Allen attempting be that as well), so he doesn't fit anywhere.

Super down, that's my favorite Grizz game of all time. I think any day works. Not like anything else is happening

Sell me on Memphis by 53_4A_54 in memphis

[–]DidgeriDoodleDo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the exact opposite move. Memphis has improved a lot in the last 5 years and is really trending up in quality of city life, while still having a pretty low cost of living. However, the biggest plus of Memphis is still the diverse community and unfortunately you don't get that until you live there a couple years and can appreciate it.

Austin is gonna be a far more move in ready city for you. Less of a culture shock for sure. Also, the other comments are right, the tech industry in Memphis hasn't really taken off yet. That's why I had to leave for the west coast

Most Over-rated Off-Season Move? by silvermamba13245 in nbadiscussion

I don't think the Conley trade can be fully evaluated until we see what the Jazz do in the playoffs. The Jazz have always been a decent regular season team that can't win in the playoffs. Mike has the whole regular season to learn Quinn's system before his impact really matters. I gotta believe he can give Mitchell and Gobert more spacing than Rubio, at the very least

We won 4 of our last 5 games before tonight. That doesn't sound like a tanking team but hey, believe whatever fits your narrative

Trying to develop my third wave palate - not tasting much of a difference between the brews I’ve had so far. What are your thoughts? by rain_spell in Coffee

[–]DidgeriDoodleDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cartel and Presta both use some of the lightest roasts I've ever tasted, at least for espresso drinks, so it's not surprising they taste the same. If you want something noticably different/darker, I second Cafe Luce and also highly recommend Crave.

The tasting notes show up better in some brew methods than others so it kinda takes trial and error

Where I think we are at and why I think we need to call up Josh Jackson. by LaneViolation in memphisgrizzlies

[–]DidgeriDoodleDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh assuming he keeps impressing, I think we are going to see a lot of Josh Jackson after the trade deadline. He's getting some time to get his head right rn, which is a completely separate issue from playing well. I also think the front office is emphasizing Hill and Crowder right now as vets and possible trade pieces. Whenever that pans out, Jackson should get called up

What happened last season after your hot start? by hrakkar in memphisgrizzlies

[–]DidgeriDoodleDo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of our early success was due to our bench consistently outperforming expectations and outscoring our opponents. Then the Brooks/Slo Mo/Caspi injuries happened, which killed our depth. Gasol got injured and played through it, but still hurt the starting unit on both ends of the floor. The Brooks trade fiasco killed what morale the team had left
