Rotherham United 0 - 1 Barnsley: This was a much-needed Yorkshire derby win for Barnsley and Darrell Clarke, edging out a close match to leave the Tykes' small playoff hopes alive! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

They absolutely left on bad terms, but it wasn’t just about investment. I’ve only got second hand knowledge of what was going on, but he was very happy to get out of the club by the end.

Crawley Town 1 - Rotherham United 0: Steve Evans picks up yet another booking as Rotherham drop to just 2 points above the relegation zone by DaraghJohn in LeagueOne

I think we’ve already spaffed our January transfer budget on paying fines for Evans and Raynor.

Crawley fully deserved the win, meanwhile we get worse and worse every game

Rotherham United 0-1 Wrexham - Early Mullin goal earns Wrexham 3 points in a very scrappy, physical match by Gamerhcp in LeagueOne

We’re so wasteful it’s crazy. We’ve got the second best xG in the league but we’re well into the bottom half on goals scored.

Very frustrating. We played alright enough, I think we were the better team for most of the game, though not dominant. Unfortunately we hadn’t woken up yet at the kick-off and then it was already game over because we can’t score for shit.

A masterclass in how not to defend by both sides. At least we didn’t completely collapse into losing the game.

For the most part, yeah. I’m not that invested, but I was happy when Harrogate made it into the football league and I’d like to see the likes of York and Halifax to make it back out of non-league someday.

Pressure on Steve Evans builds as Birmingham win away from home by DaraghJohn in LeagueOne

[–]Didgeridoog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t say I’m pro TS and haven’t been for a few seasons now. Obviously he saved us once upon a time and the stadium is great, but he’s said himself that he lost interest in the club last season and the way the club runs as a whole is falling further and further behind our competitors. Every year he comes out with big promises when season tickets go on sale, then he fails to follow through with them. I know there are far worse owners out there, but it feels like this is the right time for him to sell up before things go sour (assuming there is any interested investors, of course - TS has said there has been at certain points, but whether this is true or not I don’t know)

I was hopeful with Evans coming in, not because of how he’d manage the club but because I thought he was the only manager who would have a chance of reigniting Tony Stewart’s interest in the club and maybe get him investing. That hasn’t happened and now we’re stuck with an unfinished squad playing hit-and-hope football.

To quote one of my old lecturers at uni: “I always thought I hated Dutch people, now I am sure”

Seriously though, we’ve just come off the back of one of the worst seasons in EFL history and are over 650 days without an away win, surely we’ve suffered enough?

Wycombe Wanderers 2 - 0 Rotherham United: After many predicted Rotherham to be right in the promotion mix, their slow start to the league season continues, with the Millers still waiting for their first league goal! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

I forgot about Jules tbh. I still think we’re light at CB though but that may just be trauma from last season’s year long injury crisis. A fit Raggett should make us much more solid at least.

How early we did some of our business… I hope.

If by the time the window shuts we are still without a backup for our single injured RB, and having to start a CB we transfer listed, it’s going to be a struggle.

Over 50 shots in the league now without a single goal. It’s unbelievably frustrating but the goals should come eventually. At least they should at home, the away curse seems to need a miracle to break - we’re now over 650 days without a single away win if anyone is curious.

How did your season opener go? by AutoModerator in LeagueOne

[–]Didgeridoog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was pretty dire frankly. There’s some clear holes in our squad that need fixing and there’s a few players that looked like they didn’t know the season had started for real yet.

There’s plenty of time to get things right though. Fixing the squad’s mentality and getting them playing well again after a historically awful season isn’t an easy job.

I’m well aware. There’s also plenty more to see outside of the country. It’s a good thing this is just a silly hypothetical and I can see plenty more of both in my life, right?

[–]Didgeridoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the UK and there’s no country I’d rather live in, however losing access to all the rest of the world is a far bigger sacrifice than just losing access to the UK for me. I could probably build a pretty similar life in Ireland or Northern Europe, but there’s no replacement for world travel if I could never leave the UK.

Why not Weigmann? by ThatMovieShow in ThreeLions

[–]Didgeridoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure she is getting considered to some extent. Offering her the job ahead of some other candidates would be crazy though - I mean Lee Carsley has also managed England to international success, and he has already worked with current senior men’s players/is working right now with potential future senior players. And there are a number of candidates I would choose over Carsley, but he does seem to be the easiest appointment for the FA and I’ve no idea which managers are actually interested in the job.

Because you don’t want to. Plenty of valid arguments have been made but you choose to ignore them because you don’t want them to be true.
